Decided to do some grocery shopping at Checkers, onto to get home when I wanted coffee, it wasnt among our packets, then I started to notice more items were missing, went through our till slip to find around R300-400 worth of groceries never made it in to our trolley. Phoned up Checkers and they found our packet even though I know full well I checked that counter and saw no packets left when I walked away from the teller. Anyways, drive back to go collect my packet only to hear Im not the only customer with a lost packet and I had to read off my till slip just to find mine... And this just seemed like a normal thing to this store... Not once have I been to a store to get my lost packet only to find Im one of many who had missing packets that night... Im sorry but Im not going to support a shop where I have to drive twice at night to go looking for my missing groceries.

Best part about checkers is thry are open 12 hours a day.Pricing is good and alway s has a wide range of all household goods and fresh and packaged food

Only two tills open. Had to stand 7 deep on a Tuesday morning to buy 4 items.

Very little cold meats available. Had to call 4 staff to assist at bread counter. Only 4 cashiers on tills. Queues long and slowly.

Tonight on my way home from work, I stopped and bought a ready grilled chicken. When I got home and opened it up, before I even touched it, I could see that it was overcooked and dry. In todays times R72.99 is alot of money to me and I am sure alot of other people. I was so upset. I will never purchase a meal from there again.

Good supply but seldom someone tp to ask for help

It is a nice store, has most of everything you need. Fresh produce is sometimes not great. Butchery area lacks for me. Overall it is a nice store that has great hours and friendly customer service.

I started shopping with them a few months back and Ive never had a bad experience until this afternoon. I bought some items as well as milk tart which was stale, dry and plain old.

The shop itself is large and has lots of parking space, the problem lies with the staff. When doing till point cash withdrawals, they send you from one till to the other claiming they do not have (the money is not coming out of your salary🤨). And I dont expect much enthusiasm from the tellers, but being rude is not how I expect to be treated as a customer. I avoid going to this Checkers branch.

Till attendant at the till next to where i was paying stood up from her chair and forcefully pushed her way out. In doing this she brushed against me. This is most definitively not social distancing

Poor customer service, I was standing in the 10 items or less queue, there was no this till is closed sign because the people in front of me were being helped, I get to the front the cashier tells me the till is closed, and tells me to go queue at the kiosk, after standing for almost 20mins....I ask her what about the people behind me because its a long queue and we all been waiting for a while, shes just answered like shes not bothered and tells me we must go to the kiosk, I think this was wrong she was supposed to help us, the shop was full it was after 5pm, and only one cashier on the 10 items of less till, so I just left the store because I only had 2 items and the line at the kiosk was very long and I am not going to stand in line for another 20mins....I go to this store almost everyday, but managed not up to standard most of the employees just do what they want, and this is not the only time Ive experienced such bad service.

Have been to this checkers branch a couple of times, and every time the staff is friendly and the shop is well stocked. At the door youre hand get sanitized plus everyone is wearing their masks.

Absolutely zero social distancing policies in place. From staff coughing violently and talking loudly to each other up-close, to customers queuing way too close, with no management guidance. I wont shop here until there is control!

Checkers Newton Park used to be my favourite grocery store, but they have really gone backwards quickly. On a couple of occasions, I have accidentally bought perishables past the expiry date or that have gone bad before the expiry date. Also, I have accidentally bought canned items that are damaged. When I have reported this, nothing was done.Someone at Checkers Newton Park is not doing their job. I have been a loyal customer, but my loyalty has been taken for granted. Time to move on.

Disgusted with the shop. They allow staff in who are sick no management on the floor sick staff allowed to serve customers. I am suing checkers for neglegance on managementPart of not monitoring there staff screening. Terrible.

Lovely, freshly baked & cooked food. The shelves are well stocked and staff is ready to serve. The checkers is spacious with a variety of products to choose from. Location is great near schools, restaurants and at shopping centre. I truly enjoyed getting my baby girl her snacks their for sports day... She loved the goodies I bought her from the checkers with my E-BUCKS CARD.

The checkers has really gotten bad. Pricing of specials never correct. Staff not helpful or friendly. Always waiting to be served at deli or bakery and butchery the slowest. Fresh produce not fresh.I always have to double check before I buy anything for freshness or expiry dates. Dont ask for cash at til..its like you asking them for a huge favour..I live 500m away but rather drive further as service and product better. Someone really needs to relook at management.

Disgusting fresh produce!! Rotten tomatoes on the shelf. Rotten potatoes in the bags. Avocados where off we had to cut out so may off piece to selvedge what we could. Bread is mouldy!! Actually the bread is always stale and old. The meat is disgusting, twice Ive bought chicken and its been rotten!! And Ive had to through it away!! How the hell can a grocer label this as fresh and sell the disgusting food?? An inspector needs to good check this place out. NEVER BUY CHECKERS MEATS!

Relatively poor service as far as checkers go. Always nice when they put out the mark-down deli food. Good selection of fresh produce.

Pathetic service and unfriendly staff. How can you say with an empty shop you not taking immediate orders. Maybe if you had more than one staff member providing a popular service there wouldnt be unsatisfied customers. Maybe if you actually had nicer staff members to communicate that information you wouldnt have problems. Same problems, with the same damn store, just a different day.

I enjoy shopping there. I rarely shopped at Checkers before I joined Cash Back. Since then I changed my opinion about buying at Checkers. I would advise anybody to shop at Checkers at 6 Avenue, Newton Park.

Always a pleasant experience. Especially the pancake lady. Maybe she could have a wee drop of lemon juice available as a condiment to make her amazing pancakes perfect?

I visited your store today during the lockdown and was so disgusted that your personnel were not wearing masks. You also allowed some of the public to to enter your store without masks. I shall never ever shop from you again. It shows that your management feels nothing for the public and staff.

Ive always been buying at Spar but am slowly busy moving over to Checkers now as their meat is also mch better than it was.

We bought REDUCED ITEMS...and the Manager said he was like a WIPER cause he had to override the regular prices at all the till points....He has the energy to move left and right pleasing all the customers.

Just down the road from my company and they always have what i need. And their chocolate chip cookies at the bakery is the best!

Waiting already 10minutes for manager and no staff member knows where the manager is. Still waiting at till 12.

Staff not very friendly. They seem to be on a go slow. No one seems to know who is in charge and any query is an effort for staff.

I avoid this shop unless it is the last resort. The staff are miserable, slow and rude and if something is advertised as being on special you are sure to find empty shelves no matter how early you are to jump on the sale. Complaints to management has had absolutely no impact whatsoever
