The food was great and service was acceptable. We ordered sushi and prawns and it did take a little long to prepare, but it was worth the wait.Takeaways can be ordered and if on Discovery Vitality you can receive cash back on some meal options.The restaurant is wheelchair friendly and has seating both inside and outside. It has no internal restrooms so the malls restrooms need to be used. No kiddies play area.

One step short of me actually going to place the order myself at the kitchen although 5 waiters standing right next to our table.no bread? Food was overdone burnt old slither of baby hake. Our experience (we were a group of 9) at your restaurant was the poorest ever at an ocean basket outlet. Chips were refried and served and was hard and burnt. The fish was dry burnt at the bottom and it was regrilled over and over again and 3 pieces were just put together. The pans in which the food were served was cold. After complaining it was said by the manageress we are sorry. The worst experience weve had.

Stopped in whilst at the mall... The service was ok, but the food was GREAT.. had the calamari, prawns and mussels, all were fresh and cooked to perfection.

Used to be a favourite of mine, but my latest experience was not good at all. Had the platter for one, which consists of a portion of fish, some mussels, some prawns, some calamari. It tasted like only the fish had been freshly prepared. The rest of the seafood, especially the prawns, were clearly not fresh.

What a disappointment. We decided to celebrate an 80th birthday here as we have always had fabulous seafood and service but this time....we had rubber instead of fish. Nothing left to say.

Our meal was delicious but as an evening dinner the interior was freezing the door constantly left open so the draft irritated all in its wake and an annoying waitress welcoming outdoor guests but speaking constantly to a suitor and not pulling closed the sticky door.

We were served by more than three different waiters and their service was poor. I asked a soft drink without ice and the other waiter that I did not order from served me one with ice. My colleague was also served what she did not order. The food took long to come. It was not a good first time experience. But the food was good that is the reason two stars.

The seafood meal (platter for one) was pretty standard. Good service. Vegetable mush was what it was - Spinach mush was preferable. Seems like I got the last of the leftovers (from the size). Doesnt mean I was unhappy with the meal.

Visited ocean basket last year sometime and food was not so great. I have been there twice this year and wow big improvement food is awesome. My wife and I are really enjoying the food there now. Well done guys keep up the good work. And the good food.

This photo is a filling face of stuffed meat, sold in wuquercrestrial or snack bar in Brazil L. It has nothing like that than was served in the ocean, there is served the table, nor with the photo of the menu it looks like.

We had lunch there today and were the 2nd couple in there.We waited more than 30 min for our food.Two coulpes that came in about 15 min after us got their food before us.The food was ok but not the rice.Will think definatedly twice before I go back to OB George Mall.

I have had very good and very bad experiences at this specific ocean basket, however tonight we had an exceptional waiter named Christopher! He really made the evening lovely and the food was absolutely fantastic! We had a platter for 2 which is definitely worth the price! Overall really fantastic!

Went there last night. Extremely dry fish, could throw someone dead with it. Staff looked very new, understandable for the season. Didnt get our order right, took half my beer back to the kitchen. Love ocean basket in general, but last night was a disater.

13.1.2020 Despite the Fish that was far off (confirmed standing Defrosted for 3 days )And served an hour after the order. Manager Kushla could give a rats behind side to assist the matter with integrity. It is such a shame that lack of professionalism brings well known places to the ground!

The service was good however avoid eating here if possible. If you happen to think that being so close to the ocean would make the seafood good here , unfortunately, you are mistaken. The prawns were undercooked and still had the dirty black vein in them which meant they werent not even cleaned before they were cooked. Rice was undercooked and the mussels were drowning in garlic and still didnt taste good. Sorry guys, you need to jack up the food at this establishment.

Well, I was surprised, though not pleasantly 😕 We have dined at so many different Ocean Basket restaurants and always had a pleasant experience. This time however, our waiter was non existent, he took our order and we never saw him again. The food really was of poor quality, the fish was dry and tasteless. I will not go back to this specific Ocean Basket again. Unfortunately I will also not recommend it to anyone else.

We love the Ocean Basket. But not this one. When we looked at the bread plate to put our bread rolls on, it was covered in some greasy substance. We then observed a waiter at an empty table taking clean knives and forks out of the glass they were in and wiping them with two fingers to clean them, then putting them back. My appetite disappeared. My wife ordered an apple and mint drink, she got passion fruit - which was not even close. The fish was OK, but the veggies tasted very wierd. Im too scared to go back there - who knows what happens in the kitchen!

The restaurant is not busy, but the service is poor and slow.

I always eat at Ocean Basket around the country but this time the service was below par, I waited 15min before I was approach by a waiter and the same waiter forgot my castle lite draft beer when it come after I reminded him it was 1/4 full. I had to wait for bread rolls while also waiting for my main and to my surprise it was served with my meal. The food was lovely hence the service spoiled it all. Managers were no where to be found.

As far as Ocean Baskets go, this branch is always top notch. We have been here many times and compared to other Ocean Baskets like the one in Strand for example, their food and portion sizes are fantastic. This has nothing to do with the George branch, but we dont enjoy Ocean Baskets wine list at all. Badly selected commercial wines and only sweet Rose. They need to consider that each province has different tastes.

Even though we were the only two people in the restaurant at that time, it took too long to get our food and it was very disappointing that our food was cold, after that long wait...

If you are into seafood this is the right address! Great food well prepared and at a fair price. The platters can always be recommended! Seating inside and outside on the stoep. The waiters are well trained and provides an efficient service. The wide range of sushi will also satisfy the sushi fans. Cash and cards are accepted.

Initial experience wasnt good. Ordered a fish soup which took long to get to me. Then the soup hardly had fish pieces in it and some stringy fish bits. Waiter was up and down but not to my table.After I complained and manager came to apologize things got better.

The service at ocean basket this evening was fantastic. A young lady by the name of siphokazi (excuse the incorrect spelling) was absolutely excellent. I hope she can continue the good work and excel in her job at Ocean basket.

This franchise is definitely miles ahead of all the other Ocean Basket restaurants i have visited. The service is of a good standard with the food being well presented and tasted fantastic. Popular with the locals and has plenty of seating.

After a long day on the road, all you want is a good meal to re-energize you. Been to many Ocean Baskets all over the country KZN, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Western Cape. So disappointed tonight. Waiter got our drinks order wrong, the food was mediocre and then to my horror, I saw one of the waiters filling up the cutlery at tables but instead of wiping the cutlery with a cloth, he wiped them with his FINGERS!!!! NO, NO NO. What is going on?Please train your staff. This is so unacceptable. This can ruin a companies good name. 😞🤔😕

Nice to watch the cricket on the tv screen. But then the waiters decided to watch soccer and switched and stood watching at the entrance. Would have stayed longer but decide to have coffee at home.

Fresh food just waited a bit long

Very disappointed. Eat every Friday night at Ocean Basket. Knysna got worse every time. Tried George. Every time the food was good but this evening we asked for Bite of the ocean. We dont like the fish and every time we asked for hake instead. We know we must pay a little extra but this evening they chargedcus R50 per persion extra and it was only a small piece of hake. To me that was unacceptable and just decided tonight I will never eat at Ocean Basket again. To pay for 2 Bite of the ocean and 2 cups of tea R380 is really unacceptable. After years I have decided I had enough.

Service was terrible, at one stage we werent to sure who our waiter actually was, had sushi as a starter and then our menus got taken away. Waiter talked very soft, had to constantly ask her to repeat what she was saying. Sushi was ok, calamari was close to a dunlop tyre, half the kingklip was nice, chips tips were burnt. Looked like the food was thrown from the roof onto the plate.

Sauce used for prawns is not of this same receipt as in other good OBs, CT Waterfront, Ushaka and Hatfield.

The worst experience ever, size of prawns sub standard, they wanted us to pay for the lemon butter in which the prawns were grilled, fish were partially raw and management and staff the worst and the laziest. What a let down.

Service is absolutely atrosious. I will not recommend this branch to anyone seeking a nice calming sit down lunch or dinner. The waiters are non existent and spill the cuppachinos every single time. 2 years and still spilling. The setup is not very pleasing and the place feels cramped. You never see the manager and the food is not up to par. Twice I have received raw food and 90% of the time my rice is raw. Its not fun. I walked by the restuarant a few weeks back and the manager/area manager/owner who ever it was, screamed and shouted at his staff all bundled together in the passage where you enter the centre. quite disturbing to say the least.

We had an enjoyable meal which was the fried hake and veg. This however is the first OB branch where we were charged for an extra tartar sauce which was disappointing as they only provide one small container for two people which is hopelessly inadequate.
