Im only speaking to the quality of the lobby area as I went through here to get to the Miami spur which is great itself. But it is a very impressive hotel, very calm and quite, clean as well. The staff are quite professional. Looking forward to an excuse to stay the night

Having not been to Umhlanga Sands for some years, I was very impressed by the improvements which have been made.The rooms are nicely done, was clean on arrival and served my needs, but some small attention to detail issues which were picked up. A big problem is the flooding of the bathroom every time I showered, no matter how I tried to get the shower screen aligned.The lawns and pools were lovely, the staff friendly and helpful and the entertainer in Cocos on Wednesday (Suzanne?) was brilliant! Of course the views - unsurpassed!On the down side, we wanted dinner after our conference, and arrived back at the hotel at 9pm, only to be advised that the Spur was already closed. No major issue, as we just went next door to Mugg & Bean! Similar;y, trying to get a cup of decent coffee in the morning before we left the resort was an issue.Otherwise - it was a really good stay and I would certainly recommend it!

Still one of the best hotels weve had the pleasure to stay in. Excellent facilities and nice restaurants on the premises. Services outstanding, nothing not up to standard.😀

If you are looking for the perfect location within Umhlanga wit hgreat entertainment, an awesome view, the sound of the sea and good food this is the place to be. Highly recommended for families with young kids

Got told off by white gentleman staff for not having mask on while having milkshake. He followed us out and made a racist comment. Such strict rules when u outside and not close to anyone is not on. Ppl around all complained of him picking on certain races

Beautiful hotel, every room has a view. Rooms are updated regularly as is the lobby and restaurants. I enjoy my time there every time Ive been there, I would recommend to anyone planning a trip to Kzn, wouldnt stay anywhere else. Compared to the rest of the hotels on the promenade, this is definitely the best value for money. Its a 4 star hotel, which in South Africa means that its a 5 star hotel for anyone coming from overseas. You cannot go wrong with this place.

Absolutely stunning views. Hotel is well kept and newly renovated. Staff are accommodating and always ready to help with a smile. Together with having a wonderful stay, its important to have people who are caring just as much to have an amazing vacation. 👏 to the Umhlanga Sands team! Definitely want to visit again soon.

The rooms are so well thought out, they feel spacious and luxurious. The staff are friendly and they have a great program of activities. While the beaches were closed, they ran a shuttle to Durban beaches so guests wouldnt be inconvenienced

Only visited briefly to get ice cream from Milky Lane (they were out of ice cream but thats not Umhlanga Sands fault)...But the holiday vibe that was present in Umhlanga Sands has made it very clear to me that my next Umhlanga trip will be to the Sands.

Its a small heaven, the perfect getaway when you need a space to re-energize. Perfect place to accommodate your needs, family/friends/ couples getaway.

Always clean and pleasant, staff are friendly except the guy who answers the phone. Other than that our family go their at least 3 to 4 times a month. Lovely restaurants. We do wish that they would open the pools and games area for locals out of season.

Lovely kid-friendly resort, beautiful views and practical but luxurious rooms. The only thing it doesnt have is a stove in the kitchenette, but there are plenty of restaurants close by, and food delivery services as well. Im sad that we didnt visit sooner, but will definitely be back. I would recommend booking for 3+ nights if you have kids. Wed stayed for 2 nights and that was much too short to enjoy everything the resort has to offer.

We visited mug and bean , the service was average. There was a long wait to get our breakfast from order, we had to always ask and wait for sauces, butter extra plates. The food was good , the service needs to improve, we visited the place since it was 2 of our birthdays, we did mention it but that is where it ended

We enjoyed our stay tremendously. Although the country was in lockdown level 4 on arrival the Saturday, the staff and management did an amazing job to immediately open up family games and outings as far as possible after the lockdown was adjusted to level 3 on Sunday.. We really appreciate the positive vibes, even after a week of upheaval in Durban and surrounds. You really excelled in accommodating us in the best way possible. The Wilson Family

Beautiful newly refurbished rooms with a beach feel occupied the 4 sleeper as a couple, the other 2 single beds are in the kitchen(no stove) which is user-friendly if you travel with children. The beach is a few step away and restaurants( Spur & Mugg and Bean)in the vicinity

Staff are really helpful and assisted and checked up on my 7 year old after she had a bad fall.Great location, modern and spacious 6 sleeper unit.Just a bit let down by all the issues we had with the rooms when we arrived, but nothing serious that wasnt addressed quickly.

I have always loved my holidays at Umhlanga Sands, and have always admired how it is managed and run as a holiday resort. The new renovations were well planned and executed. Our suite had a few problems and I have alerted them. The entertainment is simply tired and has been the same for years.This time, however, other guests spoilt it for me. The resorts Covid protocols were completely ignored by some and they piled into the elevators leaving the rest of us very vulnerable.

Enjoyed our stay. Beautiful resort. We will definately come back again.

Located right up in the most beautiful part oh the umhlanga promenade overlooking the beach. Lovely resort to spend your holidays with family. Very neat n tidy. Apartments are beautifully designed accommodating self catering as well. But its in the heart of Umhlanga with restaurants, shopping malls, and other amenities. Secured parking for guests.

A resort with numerous restaurants on the premises for different taste buds. Friendly staff and very clean accommodation. Resort also close to the hub of Umhlanga. I would definitely stay here again.

Simply love this place. It always feel like holiday and the resort is 5 star indeed . Everybody is friendly and lots to do for the kids . The hotel is situated right next to the beach and the resort feels like you are overseas ...We always come here , 2 - 3 times per year .Simply Amazing👏

We stayed here for a week. It is a really nice place. The unit is really nice we stayed in unit 50. Love the big balcony looking out over the pool with a nice sea view. Enjoyed the out door jacuzzi make sure to book your 30min session early in the morning or u wont get a spot. Always playing nice music by the pool area. There is also indoor jacuzzi, putt putt, walk climbing a games room for kids. So lots to keep everyone busy. The beds were really nice, the L shape couch was comfy. If I can give any suggestions, please supply more than one frying pan, maybe a few Tupperware and please supply a little knive to peel fruit and cut veggies. The one big knife there was in the draw was so blunt. But all in all we had a great time. Thank you so the friendly office staff and manager!

Rock solid, our goto for pizza, chicken burgers and subs. Quite fair and fitting that they have outlasted every other eatery in what is sadly becoming a failed mall.

Alert Level 4 was reinstated during our business trip to KZN, but managed to visit the Spur in the resort. There are many other restaurant options and they all do takeaway as well. The lobby is clean and strict covid-19 regulations are followed, taking their guest and staff health seriously. 10 ⭐

The staff are very helpful and friendly. Accommodation is favorable and clean. We keep on coming back. Great entertainment, with a variety of restaurants. Children are welcome. Thank you management and staff.

I absolutely love this place with modern look to the units and for lovely eating space and the activities they have for the kids.

Very disappointed with management as we stay at Cabana Beach Resort and they have a partnership going on between the resorts; however with everything happing in KZN at the moment Cabana Beach Resort kept their end of the bargain to let people from Sands still use their facilities (shop, squash courts and Wimpy) however Sands did not keep their end of the deal as we were not allowed to order coffee from Mugg & Bean (the waiters were not even allowed to speak to us or bring the coffee to us as security (with orders from management) blocked us of. We phoned the Mugg & Bean to place an order and they were happy to help but then security blocked them so that they could not give the coffee to us!So thank you Mugg & Bean we do wish you were located in a better place where you could serve the community as you wished to do!
