Warm welcome from receptionist Amellia and security on duty last night at the hotel... They ensured we were comfortable. Greatly appreciated. Rooms was clean, neat and comfortable. Pizza at the hotel is awesome.. A must try. Gateway walking distance away which adds to Convience.

Overbooked. Didnt get my onlined booked & paid for room. Took alot of discission, some heated. Forced to compromise as no alternative available.

This place is aptly named with boistress sounds of taxis,shopping trolley carts being pushed, hooting constantly disturbing your sleep.The bed mattress is something that could be used build roads with, harder than rock and will ensure proper body pains in morning should you have the misfortune of sleeping on it. The air condition does not work at all. The tv is some kind of knock off as the entire screen has a strong purple tinted and that makes watching it very difficult.The hygiene was good though so atleast thats one thing they have right.Id strongly advise using another accomodation

The mall is across from the lodge just 100mts walk.Lodge has full wifi, solar power electricity.Lots of restaurants and take away.Beach about 3 to 4km.Lots off restaurants and take near the beach within walk distance about 150mts to 200mtsFor emergencies hospital is next door to the lodge.

Only spent one night here. But the service we got was excellent. It is located next to gateway mall and this location makes it convenient. It is very clean and the staff are friendly. Thank you for the warm welcome.

Absolutely in the heart of buzz activities, there is nobody napping, its buzzing in the mall, and all the restaurants are full. Its live as normal. Must say the Covid-19 health protocols are being abided by.

We were received with warm smiles from every single staff member, from security, cleaners, kitchen staff. Breakfast was a huge surprise with inventive all covid 19 protocol in place.

Very clean room and friendly staff

I was staying here for over a week and on the last day colleagues and I went out and our bag was stolen. The late night staff (mainly a guy called Dennis) wouldn’t let me in because I didn’t have a mask and they also laughed at me collectively because of my misfortune. My only help was the Uber driver who waited outside with me and convinced them to let me in. Horrible end to an otherwise beautiful stay.

The service was excellent I didnt stay there for long but I really love the environmentRoad lodge is few steps away from Gateway . Which makes the accommodation very convenient. And also the accommodation is affordable.

Only breakfast served and the breakfast wasnt good at all. Parking looks like a scene from a horror movie and not enough towels. Not worth the price of nearly 1k a night. Rather go somewhere else

My husband and I booked in from 22-24 March 2019 and we had some complaints. I emailed the general manager and before the day was up, they responded to us in the MOST kind way. We got back to our room and there was a letter and some bottled waters and nougat and we received and email from the general manger and they offered us a complimentary car wash and breakfast. My husband and I really appreciate this kind gesture. We are very thankful. Very pleased! GOD Bless

Although we all understand that maintenance is required .....letting rooms that have just been painted with ENAMEL is criminal . The pervasive paint smell kept me out of sleep , woke up with a massive headacheThe rooms are not bad for the price . Wifi available. Parking is a problem . I arrived late and had to park in the public parking as the basement was full.Apart from the unpleasant paint smell , I would probably return....location is great with Gateway shopping centre on your doorstep . All within walking distanceService at reception was incredible

Clean and basic hotel. all basics are present. breakfast choices marginal. But to its advantage: it is very near a wonderfull shoppingmall with lots of very good restaurants and in the evening enjoyable bars and terraces.

Yet another terrible experience at a city Lodge group hotel. It seems that the check in times mean nothing to the employees.On two occasions alone this year I attempted to check in at 2pm as stated by the hotel, only to find that rooms are not ready. As I write this review I stand in a crowded reception area at Umhlanga Ridge Road lodge with a group of disgruntled would be hotel guests all waiting for rooms that never seem to be getting ready.Poor service all round. I guess when they say one star they mean one star

Improvements can be made, for instance the telephone being in rooms so it becomes easier to access the reception for help and storage cabinets.

Close to mall and restaurant, clean and great value for money

Bad place to stay. service is very poor. our room door was locked and they could not even us. we had to wait 4hours. specially the guy in reception ( DANNIE) HIS SERVICE is very poor.

They dont take good care of their clients you have to battle before they change your bedding. The bathroom has dirty toilet seats and they dont clean the shower properly. I was not happy at this mhlanga road lodge at all.

They have now seemingly given up on giving good accommodation. All smoking rooms have been removed leaving you to smoke off premises or in the basement. Staff and security only enforce this rule and no other. At 02:40am on 19/02/2020 the patrons in a room near mine were shouting in the passages and slamming their door even though there is signage stating silence after 10pm. When I complained management said they did not hear anything which I find hard to believe as Im on the ground floor and the corridor doors were open. Which means the reception counter was probably unattended. The WiFi is so unreliable and unstable its almost not worth offering to guests. It saddens me that after supporting them for 13 years I can say Ill never support them EVER again!

I booked for three days off which i did stayed, unfortunately i had to to stay for another two days went downstairs to extend the receptionist was Thabisile she didnt a good welcome & she refused to extend me because its not allowed to pay everyday in the morning she cant extend me. Fair enough its her job, on the sameday i phone as a new guest to enquire if its allowed to pay everyday in the morning they said yes i can, clearly she undermined me.

Nice and convenient place to stay at. Gateway Mall is a walking distance and Umhlanga Beach is just a kilometer away.

It was a struggle to get anybody at reception to look out for a cancellation and I needed 2 rooms for 6 nights. Only two people made a real effort. The cleaning staff was extremely lazy and on one occasion even put the Do not disturb sign in order to avoid cleaning the room. I find it unacceptable that there are no toilet brushes in the bathroom? The rooms are NOT being properly cleaned!!!The cost per room is reasonable but an electric kettle in the room would make sense and the limited parking space is an irritation.The main issues- Reception staff should make a bigger effort to satisfy customers, add a toilet brush to the rooms and replace the cleaning contractor.

My stay at the Road Lodge was very nice. My room was clean and comfortable. Im a non smoker and only smoking rooms were available. The odor was tolerable and didnt bother me. Wifi was free and fast.The best part about this hotel is the location. There are several food and shopping places, and its about 15 minutes away from Durban airport. I paid $13USD for an uber from here to the airport.

Clean, neat and tidy! Within walking distance to shopping mall and Virgin Active gym.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and that was well appreciated. The bed was very uncomflrtable, and I slept very badly, waking up with a terrible back ache. Also, the airconditioner is old and made a terrible noise all night and I could not sleep. I could not put it off, becasue it was just too humid without it. If I did one thing to improve the guest experience in this hotel, it would be to upgrade the aircons to newer, more quiet models.

Not great at all. Room is musty. No kettle in room and the air-conditioning isnt working too well for Durban weather. I would not come back. Staff are friendly, but only because it would seem they have been subdued by constant complaints. A gentleman checked in shortly after I did. His room is still occupied so he seems stuck without accommodation 21:00 at night

Everything is so good the staff is super kind but the ACs dont work but its fine and you can get to go to Gateway Mall when you want to the security is good .

Absolutely disgusting!! The shower was fested with worms, the towels were smelling so bad and the drain of the shower was smelling too!!I will never recommend this place to anyone, I checked out immediately when I discovered the worms

Great place if you spending the night. Centeral in the umhlanga area and quiet. Didnt have any problems here
