Was attending antenatal clinic since earlier this year, excellent service from staff. Then recently gave birth there and was well taken care of with my baby. I totally recommend to any pregnant lady. Even the pharmacy staff is very efficient, even the security guards are very helpful.

It is a great concern that the Media has informed the public about the Medical service at the Hopital in the wards. Take note of the pledge by our South African Nurses. Wonder if they should remind them again what their pledge is all about.Nurses Pledge of ServiceI solemnly pledge myself to the service of humanity and will endeavour to practise my profession with conscience and with dignity.I will maintain, by all the means in my power, the honour and noble tradition of my profession. The total health of my patients will be my first consideration.I will hold in confidence all personal matters coming to my knowledge.I will not permit consideration of religion, nationality, race or social standing to intervene between my duty and my patient.I will maintain the utmost respect for human life.I make these promises solemnly, freely and upon my honour.

After two days of trying to locate our mom, that was transferred from King Edward to Wentworth on a Friday by a Netcare24 ambulance, without asking or informing the family .The medic told the caregiver from the retirement village who escorted our mom ,that they are taking her to Wentworth and she has no say in the matter. We had to call the home to find find that she has been moved to Wentworth. On 30 July 2019 the family wanted to hear on progress of their family member, this could not be established as the switchboard contact no of the hospital has been unanswered the entire day, only at 7 am on 31 July we where able to speak to an operator who confirmed where the family member was. Again no nurse or doctor bothered to call a family member to keep them updated as to condition of the patient is and where and why they moved the patient again. Later in the day the family drove to the hospital around 15:45 and were able to trace in which ward the patient was. Seeing that the family had to search for the family, the visiting hours were almost over, however the sister on duty who was very friendly and apologetic about the situation, allowed the family to go and see the family member, however a lady from the local security company whom was following the family like they where about to steal when the bell rang to indicate that visiting hours was over, told the family to leave. We got extremely angry with her attitude seeing that the sister on duty alowed the family a longer visit due to no communication from hospital staff where the patient was. This same security lady, had the nerve to go and call 5 male security guards to assist her in confronting the family. Not any of them bothered to confirm first as to why the family was visiting longer than the normal visiting hours.Neither did they bother to confirm with the sister on duty as to what the arrangements for the family was. I am totally disgusted by the arrogance of the security personnel on duty in Ward C5 not to mention the lack of communication between the hospital and the family..I addressed a email to the PRO the following day, she was kind and business like to acknowledge my complaints and confirmed the complaints Is being investigated .This was dated 01 August, today is 16 August and a return email on me requesting feedback, is still your complaint Is still with the various departments

Where do I begin!!!Twice Ive had the displeasure of taking a family member to this hospital. Disgusting, pathetic, the disconnect of staff and patients, unfortunately, this is closest facility and being after hours, we had no other choice. The accident and emergency Ward is anything but, we waited over 5hours without anybody attending. Some of the other patients have been waiting since 8 in the morning and its now past midnight. Do they not value the lives of their patients? Is their attitude, Well get to you when we can. As doctors, theyve taken an oath which they cant uphold. They have no system, no structure. Wake up Wentworth hospital, you guys are playing with peoples lives!!!

First time i have ever been to this hospital to admit a family member. Staff were friendly, helpful and very kind. It is not the staffs fault that the government cannot upgrade the services like getting computers to speed up admissions etc. Windows broken, painting to be done, no directions to and departments. The only thing bad is that nurses should see to patients furst if only a few before taking a lunch break or they can have a 5min snack break. Otherwise service was good. Government should be ashamed of themselves for letting this kind of hospital degrade so badly. People in government should be fired or get lower salaries as they are not doing their job.

Wentworth is a district hospital in the eThekwini health district.Wentworth Hospital services the following catchment areas:- Hillary, Seaview, Wentworth, Austerville, Yellowwood Park, Chesterville, Cato Manor, Bluff, Clairwood, Montclair, Jacobs, Lamontville, Umbilo, Woodlands and Merebank. Wentworth Hospital operates on a referral system with patients being referred via their local clinics or regional hospitals.Wentworth Hospital is unique in that it boarders on a nature reserve. In January 2003, Dr. A. Reddi – Head of Department of the Cardio-thoracic Surgery (now based at Inkosi Albert luthuli Central Hospital) undertook a project to list all the indigenous trees found on the premises of Wentworth Hospital. The objective was to label these trees with the KwaZulu Natal conservation Service tags nailed onto them for easy identification, hopefully increasing awareness and appreciation. Each tag cost +- R6.00, the cost was borne was the Cardio-thoracic Surgery Department before they transferred.

I rate the service at Wentworth hospital a - 5 star.A family member was supposed to be admitted to above hospital last night. Had referral letter from Specialist. Arrived at hospital, waited in waiting room for almost 4 hours while fat, lazy nurses sat around talking, joking and texting on their phones. Finally the family member could not bear the pain and we brought her home. Went back early this morning, only to be greeted by an abrupt and arrogant male at the info desk. He told her to go get her blood pressure taken and then sit in the doctors waiting room. We got waiting ticket no 102. Again three and a half hours later we left because the family member could no longer stand the pain and sit in an over crowded waiting room. I only saw 3 doctors consulting, and by the time we were leaving they had tended to less than 30 patients. One fat nurse came and sat down behind us in the waiting room soon after we arrived and was chatting to someone. In all the time we were there, she never once got up. Is that what she is paid to do? Its is such a shame that state hospitals have been reduced to this. It seems the fattest, laziest, rudest and most uncaring staff are hired to sit around all day and ignore patients. Wentworth was once a great hospital but now its a departure lounge to the mortuary, thanks to its uncaring staff. In the good old days. when one had a referral to be admitted to a hospital, one was taken to a ward, made comfortable, had the usual Bp and stuff done and then waited to see a doctor. Nowadays one spends hours and even days sitting in an overcrowded waiting room. Viva cANCer!

Disgusting experience! Took a family member to the emergency room, unhelpful, rude staff-security(Laughed and made jokes even when they could see the severity of the person- semi-conscious). A man was waiting for a doctor for over 14hours, sleeping on the floor ontop of a plastic bag. (Was told there were no beds available, we saw two vacant beds) Senior doctor had the bedside manner of a taxi driver. Asked him to please put the drip back into family members arm, he said go ask a nurse, (He was sitting down texting on his phone, while nurses were busy) Nurses lost the family members file (In the space of 8 hours). Family member had an inflammation in their brain, was told instead that the person suffered from an overdose of medication, thats why was semi-consious, blood test came back clear. Was then told the person is suffering from depression, they cannot help, we should just take the person home. Waited 8 hours just to hear that they wouldnt assist us. Well done Wentworth Hospital, thank you for showing us exactly what type of people work there. Poor people suffer because of your total disregard towards human life. Well done.
