The hospital great an enormous number of people every day. The staff has to cope with some time difficult patients. Overall they do the best they can. I am thankful they are available
I have to go there monthly to fetch medicines. Not the greatest of experiences as the process is sitting in snake queues and having said this, I have been amazed how quickly they get people through the particular process I go there for, so well done to the staff there on their efficiency despite such a manual process. The issue is really the state of the hospital, the fans and air-cons dont work. The old broken air-cons are still left in place and the newer ones (also not working) installed next to them ? The walls are in poor state etc all very run down.
Ive been treated at Addington Hospital a few times, was admitted there and been to the caualties a few times as well. Their service was okay - compared to other public medical centres. I have heard bad stories about the place, but when I was there, I was attended to with care - 90% of the time. You get people that are doing a job for the money and you get people that are in a job for the passion. I was lucky to have been treated by people that were passionate so you see the care and compassion eminating from within.
Its best to head to the hospital early in the morning to avoid the large number of people who visit the hospital daily. Dont forget your visitation card. I got there at 6 am and already there was a large number of people ahead of me. The staff in the pharmacy are the most efficient and professional in the hospital.
Visually uninspiring. Rodents at the door, filth at the entrance. Crowded with patients who, because of their situation, had to give up their dignity. My thoughts also go out to the health professionals who have to work under these appalling conditions.
Addington hospital on a whole have been very unhelpful. My mother was in an accident and the lady from orthopedics came and took her wheelchair and she was so dizzy and sweating and weak she would have fell anytime, I was not with her at the time as I went to get her meds but ridiculous behaviour also the attitudes and blatent disregard for people is apparent. I stood at the glass in the Pharmacy dept for so long while they all sat on boxes and laughed and joked. When my mum was admitted they ignored her when she wanted to use the toilet when I saw her I had to go fetch the bed pan and make her go to the toilet. Pathetic service
Service is not so good as other hospitals that I have been to, its just their technology is behind and its an old hospital, if there could be an upgrade, Im sure it wouldnt be that bad
The public sector is getting better but still has a long way to go in service delivery and being systematicA few systems in place could eliminate lots of queues and bottle necking
I went to hospital for my gallbladder removal, my appointment was on July 1st and my operation was on July 2nd, so my operation went well. The Doctors, nurses everybody was so helpful to us. I was admitted for a week after the operation, so everything was fine.
Our health care customer (patient) care is at risk generally in SA. The hospital have no blankets for their patients, I understand those health care workers see almost the entire KZN but can they just not come to hospital to give poor people bad service. They knew what they sugned up for. Ooh the rudeness of the casuality staff is dispeakable. The hospital itself needs major renovations. Right at the entrence there is a leaking hole that has nit been fixed.
The staff is friendly and helpful but the facility is old and theres no equipment.
Gave a half score for one clinic can be excellent and another unhelpful. As a Christian, i do admire how the Muslim doctors are dedicated in rising the standard again....
I was in hospital for 7 days with Cellulitis and I was impressed with the improved care. Unfortunately I still dont eat the food. But I had fruit to eat and supplied my own cereal.
I remain aggrieved and the fact remains that this hospital have some of the most unfriendly and rude staff, especially the psychiatric clinic. The pharmacy has a few hiccups, but are definitely the most efficient and friendly. Today 10 December 2019 ,I again had the displeasure to visit Addington hospital, with the usual, unfriendly non helpful staff, however there was a signing light head of psychiatry, Dr Kadar (Kadder),friendly, helpful, courteous and apologetic for the bad service provided at the psychiatric department
Never judge the book by the cover...Construction is old... but the people in the wards are cared for. Morning prayers to all are sung by the nurses. Heart warming
I have never experienced poor service than the one I experienced there...
Not clean at all. Staff are not pleasant towards the patients. Toilets in a very bad state. Cant wait to get out of there.
The nurses think they own they own the place. Please get medical aid people you certainly dont want to end up here and die with a sickness you didnt have
Place is old looks 3de world very run down most staff not very friendly only a few where nice! A very sad place to end up when u sick !
Its not a posch hospital its provential but the treatment and communication with staff and doctors was excellent although many are student, but they were trying their best with what they have to make sure every patient get treated, keep up the good work guys hope government put more infrustructure in place, and then who needs medical aid, once government comes out with a decent plan for medical aid all will be treated equal, thanks
Extremely poor service from this government owned hospital. Many have died here due to their incompetence and lack of urgency.
Oncology department is in terrible state. When my mum wanted to use the female toilet this morning, it was locked. God knows why. We had to walk further down to the other section just to use the other one.Staff was working very slow. We had to wait 4 hours just to get attended to. The ceiling paint is falling apart. The toilets by the reception area are always filthy and smelly.Call this a hospital? Im surprised it hasnt been condemned. Even after 6 months, no improvements have been made.Has the health inspectors paid them a visit, or have they been paid off as usual for over looking the faults?🤔
Horrible hospital that needs alot of attention. Extremely long wait even if you are dying
For a public institution the waiting time was quick.
Good and clean. Very friendly staff. Good service.
People see this place as a hospital on the outside,to be truthful...its a complete mess ,,,most of this place is not organized and as I have witnessed first hand how they treat the people I am disgusted,,,there is no problem with the dentist department for some reason thought,I feel like this place doesnt deserve a star,,I am not an ugly person ,I am just being honest with my personal experience.BEWARE of Addington Hospital.
Whoonga Addict factory.
Lifts dont work. Staff not helpful. Not well maintained. No clear signs or directional info. Overall if I could give this rating a minus I would.
The outside of the building looks 5 🌟, the inside is despicable. Needs to be upgraded with immediate effect.
Took my buddy here for an emergency. Scary
Good hospital but theres shortage of medication
Really think the government can fix this up. Old is one thing but dirt in a hospital 😕
Who does not get sick
They only allow the patients not others
The service in this hospital has decreased and degraded... an urgent renovations is needed...Nurses are rude no drive or passion for what they’re doing they are really in the wrong profession...management staff is no where to be seen
Thank you to doctors n nurses for being so attentative
Going downhill fast
They are not helping to their ability
Not bad just very busy many wheelchair bound folk to b served @phcy blocking thoroughfare
Death trap. Filthy. Staff have a dont care attitude. SAVING LIVES DONT MATTER TO THEM. Why are they in this profession in the first place. Curse them all for their bad attitude
Health system falling apart, negatively affecting patients.
Evidence that socialism doesnt work
Give patience attention!
Although the wait is long due shortages of doctors and sisters, you receive top quality care at Addington Hospital.
Its has poor and bad service. Really bad.
Going down in status especially the matter of the lifts, not good for those in wheelchairs needing lifts
Always their for thd old and pensioners.
Excellent job
No supervising when collecting your files.bad bad.
All medical care taken care under one roof within a short space of time.
This hospital needs major maintenance.
Need to go very early for repeat medication etc
Theres no care poor service
Over crowded...poor hygiene
Pathetic. Theyve spent over 300 million on the exterior, while inside is a crumbling mess, with the worst possible service.
Nurses are well trained
Good public service
