Close to home. Best place to train ☺️

The experience is generally good. However, could the volume of the music be turned down???Id like to hear my music emanating from the earphones in MY ears, without having been forced to hear the clubs music.

Pitty we had to go back to level 4 lockdown. I was enjoying being back at the gym. Covid-19 safety measures were in place.

Good gym. Fairly busy. The kids club is excellent because they actually do exercise with the kids.

Its massive, clean and they adhered to all the covid protocol practically

Great gym. Very clean, equipment is well maintained. The machines are modern and up to date with the latest equipment.The front desk staff are lovely.Favorite part is the classes. Wow they are great! The instructors are wonderful and friendly. Highly recommend trying out Rumble with Eric (boxing style class, its very fun)They also have a steam room and a sauna. Both are clean and modern.

Always friendly and clean. The equipment is well maintained and plenty of options. Best to go in the day if you prefer a quieter session. Good open space downstairs for a smoothie or meal too.

Probably the best gym in KZN.Extremely well run and managed.Always opens on time.Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.They offer fitness classes daily like no other gym. The gym is kept spotless.Always lively music playing. The pool is kept crystal clear.Lovely chill lounge area with its own health restuarant.Other gyms will have to go very far to come close to what Hillcrest branch offers.They make a healthy lifestyle an absolute pleasure.

This gym is great - Ive been a member for a year now, and havent found a reason to complain. Great care has been taken for the comfort of members, with the inclusion of things like couches, cellphone chargers, wifi, and a Kauai inside that stocks fruits and energy bars as well as smoothies and meals. The pool and machines are always sparkling clean and very well maintained, staff is friendly and learns the names of members - I am greeted by name on most visits. The classes offered are well-run, and offer a good variety

The machines are always being cleaned, and the showers are always clean. The staff are always friendly and helpful. And the classes offered are great for all ages and level of fitness.

A vit busy, but, not much waiting for machines. Showers were clean and hygienic.

The staff are asleep on their feet. It is like they are on a go slow. NU at Virgin Active in Capetown give far quicker and better service! This is the last time I stand ignored in a queue like I am a ghost, even though they have two tills and only ever operate one, no matter how big the customer crowd. Virgin Active in Hillcrest ought to give another franchise a shot at foodservice with staff who act like they are grateful to have jobs and customers!

This a VA gym facility located in Hillcrest Corner. Convenient. Adequately resourced with gym facilities such as the sauna, steam room and yoga

Up to date equipment. Good flow and layout. Clean and pristine. One of my favourite Virgin Actives in South Africa and I have used loads of them in practically every city.

I realise the staff are probably required to greet everyone by name, but to often be greeted by name before even swiping my card, is going the extra mile (I dont go often enough to be known).Friendly staff, modern look, always spotless and well maintained - All in all a great place to train (or get a smoothie in!)

Great variety of equipment, top class gym, huge and clean. Even when packed I can still get a full workout done in 1 hour. Very helpful staff members.

I would prefer slightly more of the common free weights items such as the standing calf machine, abdominal machine, sit-up bench, pec deck and maybe an extra squat rack. Otherwise, this gym is nicely laid out and the staff are friendly. I love the dumbbells setup.

I love my local Virgin Active! The classes - Grid, Pump, Heat are great for any fitness level and the trainers are all amazing!

Instructors are amazing at their job, admin staff go out of their way and the general feel of the gym gives one a sense of purpose and encouragement to carry out your workout to your full potential

Good gym. Staff are friendly and the gym is generally clean.There are no fans in the gym (except for in the spinning room) so if you are doing a cardio workout its often to hot. The cardio area, in my opinion, has been placed in the wrong part of the gym. There are large windows in the cardio area which results in the cardio section heating up due to the sun. The air-conditioning (which is one unit for the entire gym) feels as if its not even on. If you request the staff to turn the temperature down they simply tell you that they cannot do so because it will make the rest of the gym freezing. Since the weights and group class areas are out of the direct sunlight it is much cooler in those sections of the gym. I understand where the staff are coming from since they cannot win in that situation. They will either have the customers doing cardio workouts complaining or they will have customers doing weights complaining. My argument is of course that the people doing weights should just bring jackets because there is nothing you can do to cool down if you are to hot, but I wont go into that.Another unfortunate design/layout flaw is that the Kauai is placed directly underneath the cardio section. The Kauai is not enclosed so there is often smoke that rises into the cardio section. The open plan design is aesthetically pleasing but is definitely less than practical. They need to put extractor fans in the Kauai kitchen to divert the smoke away from the cardio section.The Watt bikes are also poorly maintained which is a bit of a let down since these indoor bicycles are so popular amongst cyclists.Overall the gym is good but not great. I was expecting more from a Virgin Active since the fees are very expensive. But if you mainly go to the gym to do weights then this is the perfect gym for you.The Virgin Active needs to put fans in the cardio section which will create air flow, provide relief when the temperature is high, and it will also divert some of the smoke from the Kauai downstairs. This is a seemingly simple fix but, despite my suggestion on many occasions, there is no change in the cardio section.I hope you found my review helpful:-)

Nice club. Just dissapointing Virgin Active does not have the digital measuring device. (Kloof branch had it). Device measures BMI and uploads it to yourl Virgin Active portal (well it used too). Sad to see how far behind Virgin Active is in this digital cloud based era.

Excellent gym my only gripe is that men should be banned from standing at the wash basins shaving there heads and private parts leaving hair behind. This grooming should be preformed at home.

I wish I could say the same about virgin active hillcrest staff I have not been treated well even today one of them spoke to me like Im a piece of trash...but indeed its a nice gym and I will keep on trying maybe just one day I will feel how other members feel...
