Food was really yummy, and just what we were craving. And you can get shop for all you groceries before you leave. Their bakery section is quite good also.

Most items sold at Continental Bakery is extremely high priced. They overcharge on deli items, sweetmeats, confectionery, meat products etc. Not a good place to shop if you are looking for reasonably priced goods

I visited the establishment on the 21st of March 2021 with my mom, hoping to have a light meal and perhaps take a tasty tour through the butchery and bakery section to purchase a few items, however we were sadly disappointed. As expected, we had to wait to be seated which is absolutely fine as we always adhere to protocol but while waiting to be seated we were not acknowledged or greeted by the staff or managers. We were completely ignored and overlooked, but still patiently waited as we understood it may have been an oversight. After being patient for several minutes and then witnessing the greeting and friendly approach to other customers coming through, it was evident we were singled out and purposefully ignored. A very sad and humiliating experience for us. Totally disappointed and surprised to have experienced this situation.

Used to be one of my faves but was disappointed by my meal today. My penne pasta was basically mash. Not sure how they could even serve it! Very disappointing.

Get your freshly baked pies, lasagne, cakes and rolls here. Tastiest butter chicken pies Ive ever had. Very convenient and clean place with friendly service.

R250 per kg for lamb ribs (or was that only during week of unrest), fat and bones are almost 50% of this weight. I have never in 30 years of cooking seen so much fat on a single lamb chop. Are these cows on steroids. This is robbery and an insult to YOUR customer. Dear owner, I know you have a business but you a human being first and you should not exploit us like this.

Its an upmarket butchery, bakery and eating place. The decor is tasteful. Standards are high, so are the prices.

Had an amazing experience. The Juma (Friday) lunch was absolutely scrumptious and one of the very very few places that I ate dhall ghos, that was so deliciously prepared. The meat inside was of gigantic proportions, exactly the way should be!!. The rice was soft and fluffy, accompanied by all The tasty accompaniments. The biryani was deeelish as well!!!Anyway that was just the lunch, I have had their Burgers previously, the flatbread and pizza. All freshly made and ready to indulge.The sweetmeats are my favourite indulgence!!! I could survive on them for days!!!.Their quality and standards are stil as consistent as they always have been since their very small shop on Ridge road that used to love visiting.The cold Meats are excellent and their Kassegrille is legendary. Many have tried to copy what Continental has mastered.All in all an amazing stop this upcoming break!!!

Amazing selection of baked goods,their freshly baked breads and buns are really amazing.On the butchery side their mince is good other items are not so grand and over priced.Staff are friendly with good attitude....... Cashier is a little too friendly though.

Pies had chunks of fat in them. Definitely not the way they use to be. Owner wasn’t interested and knew they were adding fat in the pies.

Really nice stuff. Not for you if you are a diabetic (too many temptations). Prices are high. Parking is not always available and there cab be a line. The restaurant has a buffet on Fridays we check I suggest. The bakery is also wonderful.

I love the variety and love shopping here. The only thing that troubles me is the aunty at the till that always makes mistakes and takea forever.

Hmmm.... the word that came to mind when I visited this place for the first time today was “fresh” not a word one would generally associate with a butchery, but this place can be the exception. Upon entry one is greeted with a display of decadent delights in the form of traditional sweet meats. One would be forgiven to think that this was only for display but the giveaway is the tongs and a stack of medium sized cake boxes. We entered into the somewhat smallish eating area/restaurant with no attention from any staff and found ourselves sitting at an 8 seater table. After still not receiving any attention I decided to walk over to the counter to establish the protocol to order some bites. In no time a waitress attended to our needs. While waiting for the prep, I decided to explore and found myself at the other end off the establishment at where the food gets prepared. I was greeted by the man in charge who was more than accommodating when I explain the whole google local guide review and graciously allowed pics to be taken. I found out that Continental moved into this area 5 years ago. The smell of freshly baked bread reminded me that I was indeed in need of sustenance and I got back to my table ate my breakfast wrap and went on a small shop over in the butchery section. Got a chance to sample their jalapeño chicken wors which I ended up buying. All-in-all and great place, well laid out and an excellent variety to choose from whether it’s just a nibble or something to bust your hunger, this place is well worth the visit. Con... well parking is always a sticky issue in most places Durban but a little patience and alls well.

You guys have lost the plot somewhere between ridge road and argyle! Really guys, totally disgusting. Public, please dont get caught with the whole pride on freshness. Really upset with this bakery.

Good place to have your coffee fix in the morning. There deli and BBQ area is quite nice offering selections for all. However, like most coffee shops they need to keep creamers for those like me who are lactose intolerant.

The milk tart has been amazing for many years until about a month ago. The base/crust has become extremely thin and soggy. Please revert to the original recipe/quality or risk losing many long term supporters.Message to owner: let me know when the milk tart issue has been resolved as I have thrown the last two milk tarts purchased at continental away...

Lovely coffee shop area with the best coffee/hot-chocolate selection. Staff are friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend this place for your morning coffee runs.

Drove past the bakery one of the days and advert on the window grabbed my attention stating 2 large margeritas R79.90. Thought it would be worth a try, but we t in only to find out that the special expired months ago! It is very deceiving to falsely advertise specials that have expired over 2 months ago! If the advert does not have an expiry date and is advertised on your shopfront, surely the special should be upheld until the advert is taken down. If the special is not on, take it down or block it out! Simple as that! No false Advertising and certainly no write up on the tase of the pizza! Business etiquettes first! Very disappointing!

Having been unable to find what I was looking for in Durban, I called Continental Bakery to enquire if they had availability of the baked goods I was seeking. Not only did they have, Pam offered to keep some aside for me. I arrived about 5 minutes after my promised arrival time (because I was heading in the direction of their old premises on Ridge Road, as opposed to their new store on Stamford Hill). My order was handed to me as promised and I left after having a brief chat with the cashier. Very friendly service and good quality baked goods. I would certainly be back

From a previous unpleasant experiance 5 years ago i can say that they have definatley upped their game . The pies are still tasty and filling . They served it with a shot of sauce which was absolutley delicious . Please consider selling this in your stores.Quiet pricey though but everything was tasty amd fresh. Was wishing for pizza and drove through the Florida Windermere area looking for some oven baked pizza to try, and accidentally;wrong turn, found this place. Was actually climbing the pavement to get away and looked at the building which seemed like a very clean butchery, but on further inspection served oven baked pizza! Where we were climbing was actually the parking so seemed like fate all at once. Was daughnting as we first walked in, and felt a little half hearted about entering the shop, and was pleasantly surprised. Butchery on one end, bakery on the other and restuarant to cap it all off. The pizza was amazing; halaal, and we tried the different but delicious burfi milkshake, and a bar one milkshake for security, both were awesome. Service was a little slow but all in all it was a good experience. Will return to try some of the other tasties on the menu and possibly get some meat!

But portions are extremely small that I have rated it 1 star!For R60.00 I got 2 eggs, half filled bowls of baked beans and fried potato (5cm diameter bowls) 2 sausages (3cm ea) and a QUARTER PIECE OF TOAST... YES! Not 2 slices of toast! A QUARER the size of ONE regular slice of toast!!!

Love visiting here. Ill try to list the things they stock, but its so much! Butchery with all kinds (no pork as halal), marinated meats, sausages, anything. Lovely frozen goodies like samosas and pizzas. Full bakery with desserts, pies, pizza, cakes. They also boast a full restaurant and cafe serving 3 meals, all fantastic, and good prices too. ALSO a small grocery section to buy boxed goods (ready-to-cook meals, sides, desserts), andlots of other imported goods. Have to come and see for yourself. The best part is their new Nutella gelato bar!! Try the pistachio 😍😍

The food is generally good. However, waiting times for food preparation (even when empty) are really long. Service leaves a lot to be desired...Also, “Wednesday burger nights” should be advertised with all the provisos - Nothing else on the menu is available and no chips are served with the burgers.“Steakout” on Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun does exist despite being advertised on the menu....Cold coffee on offer as well if that interests you.Some closer management attention is required here!
