Great vibey venue, with dishes to tantalize the tastebuds and food too beautifully presented to eat! The owner being a bubbly, hands-on piece of gorgeousness doesnt hurt!

Welcoming and friendly staff. They made us feel right at home. Breakfast was unbelievable, beautiful presentation and amazing flavors. Not the everyday breakfast. Theyre moto: Fast food isnt good .. Good food isnt fast! We didnt wait long for our food and it was still great.

Dreadful customer service. Waited almost 2 hours for our food and kept having to ask the staff what was going on. We were a table of 6 and had booked lunch for a friends birthday surprise. Most of were having salads so there was no reason for it to take so long. The owner told us, after we complained to her, that it was actually OUR fault that we had to wait so long for our food because we had only made our booking that morning!! This was such a ridiculous excuse - she just could not or would not take any responsibility or accountability for her staffs poor service.Although the food was good, the experience left a bitter taste in our mouths and soured what should have been a happy & fun day out.

What a brilliant little gem this is, just short ride outside Cape Town. Alex, a very proud Malawian was very helpful and attentive. Definitely worth spending a Sunday to visit them.

If you have lots of time and you willing to wait between 1 hour and 90 minutes for food then I will say go for it, 3 different families walked out couldnt wait, owner just sat chatting to friends and insisted she warned there would be a wait when we complained. Kids were starving and the place wasnt even busy, so they get a thumbs down, they spoilt my birthday lunch. The manager however was very good explained the real reason for the one and a half hour wait.

Absolutely amazing service from the minute we arrived. There is rooster called Basil that really owns this place and is quite the character through a visit here. There are bunnies on the lawn and a super cute kitty. The food was very well presented and deserts were superb especially the liquorice ice cream. The restaurant has a homely feeling beautiful decorated and clean. Entertainment for the night was a one man band that was loud enough to enjoy while soft enough to talk over. This is a champion experience. Well done to the owners and staff for creating such a gem.

I have decided to give this restaurant a two ranking because what is the point of having pretty great food and a great manager- if the rest of the staff and owner are so oblivious to their customers and the need for proper service? I kid you not, we waited an hour and 55 minutes for our meals- 15 minutes of that was just for the waitress to actually give us a menu. I went to the roosterkoek place next door for a midway snack. The waitress was really not serious about her job, everything took her a long time, she was easily distracted and actually completely neglected to bring us the bill. And the place was not even at capacity! The owner kept making excuses instead of taking responsibility for their incapability. While I was there another customer refused to pay for their drinks because they waited an hour before the waiter came back and said we dont have any more pizza. Another customer completely lost her temper because she had been waiting so long for her food. It was a terrible experience. But hey, the food is nice and so is the play area for the kids.

A beautiful place with absolutely delicious food. Dont be in a hurry if you visit. It was well worth the wait.

The saying goes: “It’s not inside, it’s on top.” With The Old Forge it’s not outside it’s inside. It’s got just the right feel, relaxing, good background music, good service, a great menu - well priced, and Darling beer on tap or choose from a selection of their wines - this is not a ‘have a quick bite and move on’ place. Sit back, relax and enjoy. Alternatively, outside lends itself to having a starter with a good beer or their house wines. I would have like to see more local wines available by the glass. We kept our meal light so really enjoyed the Panfried Chicken Livers. Without a second thought I’d be back.

What an amazing place, it was so much fun on Easter weekend and the kids loved having a clown/magician around, there was a jumping castle and lots of games and treats. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is super cool. Live performers are also there from time to time and it adds a fantastic vibe. Thank you and will be back 🍷👌

Though this is not a coffee shop, they served it in style. The menu looks great, unfortunately I we were not hungry enough to try it. We had baked cheese cake which was served with fresh fruit and a dollop of cream. It was delicious 😋! I look forward to returning and sampling the menu next

We were a group of 8 older boys from Fergies pub in Table View that came for lunch yesterday. What a magnificent experience, superb food, service and a wonderful, welcoming attitude & vibe!! I cant rate The Old Forge highly enough, we had a variety of dishes between us and every single guy raved about their food, washed down with good local Darling wine of course:) Definitely will be back as many times as I can, an awesome day out with a tasting trip to the Darling Brewery to kick off proceedings. Superb job Nina & Derek, and a huge thank you from the Fergies old farts!

WOW what a stunning exquisite Valentines evening and meal. Certainly the most exiting and tasty meal with hints of exotic flavours that we can ever remember. An absolute treat and spoil deluxe!! Thanks so much! Well be back with our friends! Certainly worth driving a 100 km for!

We had the most awesome meal and experience. Decor is eclectic, quirky, South African and tongue in cheek. Chandeliers, candelabra and trophy heads on the wall. Hosts and their friends made for a most memorable evening. The one man band sang a lovely mix of music and barely took a break. We spent 4 hours there and left at midnight. We have recommended everyone travelling in the area to stop in for dinner.

The bigest Surprice ever. I drove past and the Name Board It was around 1pm, Past the Sunday Lunch Time. I Called in and asked if they can still serve us. A friendly yes. Such a Nice interior. Amazing friendly matradee. Then the Jackpot, Everything was cooked to perfection. Generous Portions and tastfully Presented.. And the final surprice was the more than Fair, Total of our Bill. I Recomend this Restaurant 100%+

A beautiful setting with great decor. We spent a lovely afternoon out on the lawn. Just a pity about the service.......our waitress apparently new, but not too clued up.......even wanted to take my plate away when I had only got through half my meal. Dirty plates were left on the table for ages. So much detail is put into the lovely old silver used at the table , but then you get plastic, almost empty salt and pepper cellar which does not match the rest of the style.........little things that count! However, the burgers were ordered medium rare and they were perfect.

Not to be missed. One of those places the locals love as much as the tourists. Outstanding food, fantastic decor, laid back and superbly run.

It took two hours to receive any food. We arrived and got a bottle of wine, then no one came back for an hour. Eventually we were able to get someone to take our order, and they warned us that the kitchen was backed up but it would take max 30 minutes. We said that was okay and waited almost another hour for the food to arrive. When the food did arrive, it was missing one of the dishes we ordered (though it still showed up on the bill and we had to ask them to remove it). They werent especially apologetic. They came and said sorry but didnt do anything to make the situation better, I think a complimentary drink to have with our food would have gone a long way since the bottle of wine we had ordered was long finished. The food was good. I think once they figure out the staffing/capacity issues it could be a good place, but when we were there it was clearly understaffed and it wasnt a good experience.

- Waited for more than 2 hours to receive our food- Manager had attitude- Food was nothing to rave about. Not worth the wait- Pizza had cheddar on it - disappointing- Mussels tasted weird- Doesn’t even deserve one starReally spoilt a little trip to Darling.

Well looks nice but closing time says 2200 but at 2030 kitchen closes... just tell people that and won’t wast time going after the sun goes down.
