Very relaxing, hospitable hosts. Good pillow selection, comfortable firm mattress, plenty of blankets and means to stay warm and fans and air conditioning to stay cool! Really enjoyed our short stay, and we will definitely be back.

We love staying at the Barracks. Good walking distance to the restaurants. The rooms are prestine with good quality linen. It is starting to feel like home to us!

Mike and Annelie looked after us extremely well. Nothing was too much trouble even helping us to move our car and carry the luggage.Rooms are well appointed and The Barracks are worth the stay.

The rooms are spacious with DSTV, Bath and shower. The host is very attentive.

Great service great food and accommodation

Enjoyed my stay there, very friendly owners. Best lamb shank I have ever had. Dont expect a 5 star modern building. Its a lovely quaint building with all the original floors, doors and windows from the original English Barracks. The history on the wall of the dinner table is amazing. If you love historic places to stay you will love it there.

Mike is very welcoming, place is as neat as a pin, very comfortable. If you stay here consider having supper here, the food is amazing. If you need a break from the hustle and noise of the city this is the perfect place to stay. I would definitely stay here if Im around Colesburg again.

When I arrived I was handed a glass of sherry. What more can I say? Dinner was delicious (lamb chops and home made ice cream) and the hosts were very understanding of parking needs. The room came with a hair dryer, dressing gowns and comfy pillows. I would stay here again.

The Barracks is a gem! We were greeted warmly and Mike went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. We will definitely become regulars!

Good over night stay

The Barracks definitely did not meet our expectations. We had an issue with the cleanliness of the room, bathroom and crockery. I will most definitely not recommend them. Parking is also an issue. The place is over rated and over priced.

Absolutely an incredible place to relax after a long drive! They are pet friendly and our two dogs had their own large patio to run around and stretch their legs! The owners are very friendly and welcoming and the room was incredible. Definitely worth the price!!

Very friendly owners. You get to sleep in the original barracks of the town from the 1800s. Delicious breakfast. Perfect for you N1 stop over. They have a friendly malamute too.

We arrived late after a very long trip from Pretoria and were exhausted. The hosts werent friendly at all and I had some frozen meat that I needed to put into the freezer which they could not accommodate. They were very funny with us and even asked my husband in private who this lady is with him(me, his wife). The place itself wasnt worth the price as it lacked some homeliness(e.g. there was no curtains in the bathroom).

If no stars was an option...Filthy room - hair in the basin for one. When we suggested that the room was not properly serviced there was no apology, merely a strong suggestion to find alternative accommodation.Dirty bedside laps, dirty light switches, layers of dust. Old tattered furniture. Just horrible!

Not quite what the website describes. Room was nice though, spacious with a small kitchen and aircon (a must have in colesberg!) Parking was a hassle and you have to love dogs here.

The hosts were really friendly and helpful. The Barracks is a beautiful historic building, and the owners did alot to keep tje period character. Its is on a quiet street with a great restuarant just 100m away. With DSTV, airconditioning and spacious bathroom with lovely amenities I whole heartedly recommend a stay at The Barracks.
