Nice enough place , nice enough food. But the thing that puts the place over the top is the staff , they are just excellent. Really have to give props to Freddy who works there - He makes it feel like you are visiting an old freind.

We needed a pet friendly establishment to sleep over on our way from Johannesburg to Cape Town. We also needed parking for our vehicle and caravan, and I have to say we were surprised with the pool area where the dogs could run around freely.... The vehicle and caravan were save and looked after by the night guard.Our room was clean and had all we needed and to get a good rest before we were back on the road.The cost for the room was acceptable and in line with the quality of the room.

Arrived late and staff was so friendly and helpful, left early morning and the security guy was on his post. Well done

Rooms really nice. Staff very friendly, efficient and helpful. Menu a little limited and almost no vegetarian options. A little too much traffic noise.

This is an old hotel, puts you back in the mid 90s. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.

Restaurant, after checking with reception, had limited wines available and DO NOT blame it on Covid! The meal prices advertised on the internet does not correspond with the actual prices!! False information. Will I recommend the lodge?....NO

This is the most affordable option, with an incredible team. A great stop on route to PE. There is WiFi. They also have a great bar. With good prices.

Place is good, but expensive for what they have to offer. Breakfast was very basic and there wasnt much guidance or assistance in the cafeteria. Otherwise a good experience.

We had a pleasant stay at Colesberg Lodge. Our huge family room was clean and had all we needed. Breakfast was delicious and plenty. All I missed was a coffee machine/plunger.

This is an ok place. Passages are large and noise carries easily. Hourly rounds by security while chatting woke me up every time. So I didnt get a decent rest before my second leg of my trip.

Nice seeming fun with my cuzin friend

Its not the best place youll ever sleep at but its seemingly the best on your way. Been there more than once. Hit and kiss kind of an affair. I think cleaning is a priority and breakfast is a bit slow if youre used to speedy service. But aside from that Id still recommend the place and I will return.

The rooms were clean and had everything we needed for a overnight stop to and from CapeTown. The staff is friendly and the food was nice. The only issue we had was getting breakfast in the mornings.

Okay to sleep over when driving to Capetown

One hopes for a clean room, toilet and bathroom facilities, and build from there. The Colesberg Lodge offers that as a basic offering and then lets you ramp up from there by adding on TV, air conditioning, secure parking etc etc. A traveller on a budget or in a rush can choose the level of comfort /convenience. For families or tourists there are suites, a dining pool and dining /pub facilities.

Surprising gem of the North Cape

Its ok clean bedding and shower but i was really upset that i had to pay for parking !

We got badly delayed on the N1 and only arrived at 11pm. The staff bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed, even finding real milk for me as I cant drink cremora so late with no issues.Breakfast (pay extra, but definitely worth it) was delicious, range of cereals, delicious fry-up, toast, tea & coffee, juices.Great atmosphere, good value.

Ive stayed here so many times, but am disappointed to find the standards dropping. I didnt get the room I requested & they didnt communicate this with me. Bedside lamp not reaching the plug, WiFi doesnt work in the room, the lamb I was longing for was served cold & raw. Hardly any stock in the bar. Having said that though, Zandri & Franklin are absolutely wonderful. I will return mid October, & hope to see some improvement.

After an eight hour drive we arrived to find they gave our room to someone else because we arrived to late. When we made the booking we explicitly stated that we will arive between 9pm and 10pm. We arrived at 9:15. The person behind the desk refused to let us speak to the owner or give us the number. We had to drive around in the middle of the night trying to find alternative lodging for the night.Edit after Ulrichs response below:When I made the booking I asked 2 questions.1. Can we check in between 9pm and 10pm? Response from receptionist: Yes, we are open 24 hrs.2. How and when should I payResponse: you can pay when you arrive.Never once was it mentioned that I should pay a deposit or anything. If it was the case I would have made payment then and there.We left after your staff ignored us after we repeatedly asked to speak with management.We might have stayed long enough for you to find us alternative lodging had anyone been willing to admit that that they messed up and apologized. Instead they blamed us for arriving late. Your response also places the blame with us not making payment.A simple apology and not trying to shift the blame to the customer might go a long way.

We got there quite late and they were glad to give us accomidation and show us to our room...but it was all downhill from there, our beds were nice but the tv did not work,the remote had flat batteries in and the airconditioning set to its lowest did nothing the lamp above my bed had a broke globe in and there was nothing communicated with us about any meal offers,in the batroom there was a shower head avalable but no curtain which resultedin everything becoming wet(with no bath mats to keep you from falling), they rang us awake to do the beds because they thought we were already out while we were booked for 2 nights, after going to the museum and going back, the gate broke, we had to wait a while to go back in. After that i decided we would not be staying another night, they could only refund us 50% of our second night and not even the R30 you pay for safe parking per night. On our way out the gate broke again. I would not go back there again.

Colesberg Lodge has basic yet clean rooms, all seem to have air conditioners. The slightly higher rate rooms also has TV and a desk.Staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is save and secure behind high walls, an electronic gate and all hour security.Access from the parking to reception is however from the back, with uneven terrain and akward steps, which make it difficult for people like myself that walks with an aid. A wheelchair would be hugely problematic if the entrance from the parking is used.

We didnt even have the pleasure in trying out this lovely place due to bad customer service. First impressions of the place - staff extremely rude and unfriendly. The receptionist put the phone down in my ear and has no idea how to email. Zero stars from me!

The lodge has an old historic feel. Although its been refurbed some time ago its in need of one again. Accommodation is adequate for a small-town. The place buzzs with tourists on route to the Cape via the N1. The lodge is a suitable lay-over point between JHB & Cape Town. The bar and restaurant tables has been exquisitely constructed from railroad sleepers. The pool area is an excellent place to unwind and have dinner.

What a bad service experience one got from this lodge on 06 and 07 Nov 2017....no fridge, no microwave, no dustbin, no iron or ironing board, no glasses(forced to drink soft drink with coffee mug) and no chairs. What pissed me off is the fact that I paid R1100.00 per per night for this abovementioned experience. I am going to tell anyone whom I come across about this bad service given by Colesberg Lodge to me.😕😕😡
