Weve been to Jamaka twice, staying in a different spot each time (30-something last time, and 17c in January 2021).One thing about Jamaka Ive always appreciated is how large the farm is. There are many campsites to choose from, many of which are along a beautiful flowing stream that is a life-saver in the hot summer months (we literally spent an average of 5 hours in the water each day just to stay cool). Some sites are bigger/smaller than others, so pay attention when making your online booking. Also on offer are chalets and cabins for those who prefer not to camp. The hosts are very welcoming, friendly, and super helpful in pointing you in the right direction when looking for your site, and as to where the hiking trails start. You will also meet some quirky animals at the reception area (ie. a horse who is obsessed with the sprinkler, and a large goat that faithfully keeps watch from the lawn.)Jamaka is a citrus and mango farm. I am not exaggerating when I say that they sell THE tastiest organic dried mango slices and fresh orange juice I have ever had. They also sell farm-grown rooibos and buchu tea, as well as snacks, drinks, and other useful bits and bobs you might need during your stay. There are a number of shared ablution blocks distributed between the campsites, all of which have been very clean and neat when weve visited. There is also a covered communal wash-up area. In season you can also indulge in some delicious hot snacks, ice creams, and milkshakes at the little restaurant near the main swimming area (be prepared for a long wait, though). Speaking of swimming areas, there are 2 large pools (one with a zip-line that the kids were crazy about), and a smaller pool which is great for the parents with small toddlers. The hikes were very enjoyable and afforded a good view of the valley. The trails differ in terms of length and difficulty, just ask at reception before you start out. This is definitely a place geared toward families, so if you are looking for absolute quiet and tranquillity, then consider visiting during the off-season months. Otherwise, we highly recommend a stay here for friends and family.

We camped at Jamaka and it was top class at very fair pricing. The owners went to a lot of trouble to make one feel close to nature. Its an honest no frills campsite. They offer a wide variety of camping spots - you never feel cramped for space - with electricity. The ablutions is practical and neat, just remember to supply your own toilet paper (the small convenience shop will sort you out with white gold if you forgot). As for activities: two great pools in the mountain stream for swimming and foefie slide, paint ball, easy hikes for the family and even soft serve ice cream and milk shakes! Jamaka will definitely see us again.

Very nice place, cottage 9. Everything you need is there, even an in house fireplace. Beautiful view over mountain and valley. Although it rained buckets, was cold and even hail fell, we managed to walk up the mountain, down along the river and up a stream gushing down the hill. Well tended camping and cottages. Would be great in summer. Fabulous river to swim in! Thank you, we( 3 sisters) had a good visit

The camping at Jamaka is exquisite. They have a number of fully equipped cottages you can rent, ample camping space and even log cabins* for those who want something between camping and cottage. All very close to the river, aka natural pool. They had ice cold drink, fresh juice, soft serve and pizza right there!*Note, these log cabins are equipped with a kitchen (utensils, glasses, basin, little fridge and microwave) and bunk beds. You will need to bring along your own bedding and towels, and use the campsite bathrooms. (However, a HUGE thank you to Jamaka for supplying us with everything we needed and couldnt fit onto our moto!)The road up and through the mountain was breathtaking. Gravel and lots of fun. We encountered a couple of 4x4d caravans along with your typical Fortuner roaming around. But the gravel is pretty manageable (on our day anyway, might be different if it rained) and the occasional sedan was also noticed on the road. Do your research and contact the campsites to stay up to date on road conditions. We rented a very durable motorcycle from Dusty Route Adventures which was nice and light, and exceeded all of our needs and expectations.Jamaka staff were friendly and very helpful. We appreciated all the chats and advice and would definitely visit again!

Super friendly host, Jannie welcomed us. The camp area has increased to a whopping 80 sites- and at no stage, other than from # 55 onwards, do you feel cramped. We visited during quiet time, river front (when flowing) sites and the beautiful mountain right around. A quick 24 km ride on the back road , to Clanwilliam. Basic ablutions, might not cope during busy periods . Only fridge and power for lights, no kettles, aircons or microwaves. Solar for bathrooms and wash up.Swimming holes with dammed river water.

Great camping adventure.Expansive camps sites available, with electric points nearby and various ablution and wash up blocks spread around. There are also braai spots per camping site. To cool down, there is a lovely pool fed with ice cold mountain water as well as shallow streams that flow along the site.Best to go with a 4x4 or a car with good suspension, to deal with the 18km gravel roads upon entering the camp site.A great and fun time to getaway from the urban rush with some friends and family.

You can even sit right next to it and do your conference calls, but it is a hike up with 270m ascent so not for everyone.Lots of leopard prints and poo but no sightings.Epic kloof down the Rondegat river, a must do for all you hardcore canyoneers.

The original Wolfberg crack. Bushman caves, Rooiberg traverse a must! Machine gun not for everyone but highly recommended (looks bigger from up close). Beware of the German oracle. Rare opportunity to capture and release the Namaqua Burrower scorpion, as well as picking a mango or naartjie with prior arrangement with farmer, otherwise you’ll get caught on camera. Fooffy slide and cold water immersion not for the faint hearted. Puppies and panda bears every 6 months if you’re lucky.

We had a lovely time on the farm and loved the hikes and the swims in the beautiful river. However, we were very disappointed with the cottage itself, and expected a bit more comfort for the price - single beds (when a double bed was guaranteed), a very old and dirty braai grid, no candles/wood/fire lighters, some lights not working, cracked windows, peeling wall paint, no towels, 1 small roll of toilet paper, broken kitchen utensils, old dirty couch etc. Totally overpriced for what we got. The area around the house was also very neglected. When we raised our concerns the staff responded very apathetically. (Date of visit: October 2018).

Its a farm in the Cederberg area and its a quite place for a retreat for those who like outdoors. There is a campsite by the river which is a plus or you can make use of their self catering facilities. To wrap it up they grow mangos which are all organic and I think March and April is the best time because they are in season. You can either buy them fresh or dried.

The cottage is rustic . We were on a road trip and didnt bring towels, since all the other self catering establishments we visited provided towels. This was a bit of a predicament. Awesome venue! We stayed in one of the cottages, and it was a great experience. The house was spacious and had a definite charm. The kitchen was well equipped in the way of cutlery and crockery. The TV was also a nice surprise, as we were able to watch the rugby. Spacious fridge and freezer also made things a lot easierA built in outside fireplace, plus a freestanding braai with grids provided made braaing for a large group manageable. The shop stocks a good selection of basics you may have forgotten/ run out of.The surrounds are breathtaking, despite being saturated with alien vegetation.
