Our worst experience during three months of a beautiful journey in western Cape.We booked for a chalet and the picture on the web site suggest a chalet like many others we booked before visiting Rondeberg resort.First bad surprise the chalet is nothing more than a small hotel room with a basic kitchen next to the bed. Very little space to store our stuff; shelves and mugs dirty. The price nevertheless is matching the price of the beautiful and well equipped chalets where we stayed previously.I missed reading a small line at the end of of the last webpage and discovered on the spot that barbecue tools were not included in the inventory; that was also the first time this basic tools were not provided since we toured South Africa. We are hikers and were attracted by the fact that Rondeberg resort advertise for an hiking trail within the property. We found the hiking trail eventually after much difficulty...good luck if you are looking for it; we were just lucky to find it as the trail is poorly marked.Good news; the trail is beautiful and worth the time it took us to spot it.The deceiving experience was not over; the lady working at the resort office called us as we were heading to the next place of our journey; claiming that plates mugs glasses were missing; with a tone of voice that suggested that we were the one enjoying now these few things. I had to explain that due to the extremely small space in the room I stored whatever was not necessary under the sink to be able to organize our stuff. The lady was extremely unpleasant pretending that the manager himself was looking for the precious items and did not find it either. The next day new call from the same lady, explaining that as they did not do any inventory before we checked in, they would write off the items; we did not really see the point of her bringing up this issue with us since she clearly admitted the staff did not do things properly. no even a word of apology from herWe never experienced such rudeness after decades of travelling in Africa and other continents. This was the bitter cherry on the cake; a pity; beautiful scenery around the resort but our first and last stay in Rondeberg resort. We wouldnt recommend this place.

Great location.Staff was very friendly and made you feel at home.Very clean and the chalets was well stocked. The units we stayed in did not have TV, but honestly did not miss it. Kids were so exhausted from the day activities, didnt need telly to occupy them.Mobile data connection was bit spotty, mine is Vodacom. Other providers might have better connection. The costing is very affordable and will definitely come back

It was a very nice place, wonderful swimming area and amazing places to stay. You can camp if you like, but the rooms also have aircon (depending on the room you get maybe). The people at the front desk arent really that useful, but at least you only need to deal with them when you arrive. But other than that it is a very wonderful place!

Loved the dam and the pool, but you do need something to use in the dam. We had a kayak and a floating island that proved popular with the kids. Lovely views all round. Noisy N7 600m away - audible all night. Tiny, tiny campsites - not great in this time of Covid. Good ablutions.

We had a great stay at Rondeberg in February 2021. Here are the positives:Incredible location: Set on the Bulshoek Dam, beautiful mountain, clean, clear waters in which to swim.Options: You can camp or caravan in a general camping area which is on grass, with own braai area, electricity and super clean communal ablutions. You can also book a private or luxury private camp site, which is sort of a mix between a chalet & camping. It is comprised of a one-bedroom building, with an open plan braai area, kitchen and bathroom. What makes it cool, is that you can also pitch a tent outside on the grass. It’s sort of the best of both worlds if you have people who don’t want to camp or don’t own their own camping gear, they stay inside, and those who want to camp can camp outside, but you chill in the same braai area/kitchen.There are also 2, 4, 6 & 8 sleeper self catering chalets and stone cottages (which are very cool!).I believe that the show piece is the 9 sleeper waterfront house, which literally borders the dam and looked very nice.Service: We experience great service throughout the booking process and check in. The shop is organised, has wood, ice, cool drinks, ice creams and other braai spices, olive oil, etc. There was a massive birthday party going on with about 40 students, who pumped the music really late the Friday night, however the owners came down and sorted it out in no time once complaints were made and the same thing did not happen the following night.Kids: The dam has a great beach/grass bank and is perfect for kid to swim as the damn drops off extremely slowly and safely, so it’s great for young kids. There is also a playground too.Amenities: Very nice swimming pool is a bonus! Here are the Negatives:One slight downside is that the general camp sites are very close together and don’t have much shade. I’d definitely opt for a private camp site when I return (and we will!). It could work if you and 4 or 5 other families want to block off 5 sites next to each other, but it’s a bit too close for comfort in my opinion. Definitely not a deal-breaker though, this is place is jacked up and great!!Another downside is that they only allow 6 max per campsite. This doesn’t really make sense at the Luxury Private Campsite, because it means you cannot have 2 x families of 4. Having said that, they granted us special permission to camp with 2 adults & 2 kids (in one tent) along with your friends (4 pax) which was really awesome of them.Tips: Shoot for K10 Luxury Private Camp or Stone Cottage 1,2 or 3. Those were my favourite - close to the pool, plenty of shade and a short walk to the dam!

We camped there for a month and can only express our gratitude! Everyone on the management team is very friendly and helpful and Riaan is a gracious host, as is the owner and his family! We thoroughly enjoyed having our own kitchen and ablution facility, piping hot water. Grounds and lawns are well kept with ample space for campers. Lots of fun on the water even in winter. Frequent visitor Buksie the dog, was a well behaved little cutie. The bird life on the little pond in front of us, was very entertaining. If you want to get out of the city, come here...lots of space for fun things to do or simply enjoy back to basic chilling!

This place is amazing, especially for boating. There are a few hiking trails and a 4x4 trail, a small pool can be found at the campsite. The accommodation was okay , although the outside toilet at the chalet that we stayed was a bit of a nightmare for kids and some of the women , especially in the early hours of the morning.Otherwise the place was pleasant to stay at, and the view of the Bulshoek Dam was stunning. One thing to note that you can only pickup WIFI if you take a walk to the reception. There is no WIFI at the accommodation sites. So your internet wont work unless you take a walk to the entrance office or drive to Clanwilliam.

Review №25

Clean and staff friendly. But the owners must look into their pet friendly policy. Not everyone like that dogs lift their legs against your stuff especially where you are braai and cook your food and then need to clean where dogs poo.. not on. If you want to go away to relax and then need to listen to your next door camper or chalets dog barking it is not on. People need to leave their dogs at home or keep them for themselves.

The campsight at Rondeberg is excellent. Spacious stands on grass, with electricity and water close by. There are a few stands with nice shade, not all of them. The swimming pool and dam is closeby within walking distance. The swimming pool is deep and open so small children needs extra supervision. The reception is quick and effective with a small shop where basic products can be bought. Overall a great place to camp.
