Firstly, if you use maps then you will miss some of the turns and end up on private property. Luckily, the owner was a friendly dude who informed us that they often get visitors who is lost during the quest to get to the restaurant. We had to change the location to the wine estate to get to the correct place. Firstly, the estate is beautiful with grass and a water body and these make excellent places for pictures etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were a group of 11 which included 3 kids. Our orders took longer than 1 hour which is not good if you are screamingly hungry. There is some lack of attention to detail such as dirty glasses which surprised us seeing that this place gets top reviews. I think the food is reasonably priced and I agree with others that some wine estates will have a R10 difference (less) on the meal price tags. The food was standard to good and everyone had different opinions depending on the meal they selected. I have a feeling that this place will surprise me on subsequent visits but that remains to be seen.
Great food and friendly service. Dinner was amazing! We had to leave early the next day and received take away breakfast packaged in bio degradable packaging. It was delicious. Directions to the restaurant and accommodation can be improved.
Wonderful old cape Dutch country house. Food was good.
A beautiful setting. The staff really did an amazing job to accommodate our group.
Spent my birthday at this beautiful venue. Such a scenic view lots of activities. Will recommend this gem to anyone.... The food was absolutely delicious not to mention the wine... Awesome experience
Great lamb shank. Cozy indoor dinning with fireplace. Good wine too.
Very welcoming and efficient staff. The kitchen takes great pride in what they present. The food was well prepared and presented. I definitely recommend their red wines, especially the Zevenwacht Red Tin wine. If you enjoy the beauty of nature and its tranquility, this is the place for you. Dont miss out on the wine tasting.
Beautiful place to be, especially the dam with its ramp. And oh, I love the amphitheater, merriage thingy as well. Lovely, thats all I can say
We had to wait for our shuttle but other than that quite a beautiful place the food was wonderful and the ambience was peaceful they were apologetic but I think any event will be a nightmare for anyone because they had all Venus open today the shuttle was a bit run down so pls look at that. Thats why four stars well done
Stunning food!! Loved every bite, including my leftovers 😉
Not family friendly, but beautiful. The service was good and friendly. Food was not bad, the pie crust was a little under but the filling was great. Portion to price needs a little consideration. BUT BEAUTIFUL
Beautiful and relaxed setting, the food is great and the service as well. We all want to keep the memory of the experience so just step outside and you can go picture crazy with the amazing natural feel with trees all around and a dam with a pier for the picture perfect moment.
Had only coffee. Pretty settling. Lovely outside on the Stoep. Cozy inside. Friendly staff.
Lovely atmosphere and an even lovelier dining experience.
The food meal perfect, wish I can go back
Lovely venue...solid local dishes
Had a relaxing day with family yesterday at the Braai area closest to the parking. Always wanted to do the Braai Basket picnic and we were not disappointed. *Great service from Natasha from Picnics had everything ready for us on time. The area was neat and tidy, has running water, tap right next to the Braai, two bins provided with Braai grid, wood, tongs and Blitz (part of the Braai Basket) and well sheltered from wind by the greenery around area and shade provided by massive tree in the middle. Two tables with seating 12 people.Braai Basket contents (R440) = cutlery, salt and pepper, salad dressing (sachet), crackers + cheese, Garlic Roll, 2x Cheesecakes, 1x Green Salad, 1x Potato salad, 2x steaks, 2x Chicken thighs, 2x pieces thin Boerewors. Everything tasted great!!Will try one of the other Braai spots next time.*Negatives:- Cooldrinks a bit pricey @ R25 for a can, Juice Jug = R50- Abit of a stretch to the Loos.- Lots of flies once the meat was done and food laid out on table. They left when the scraps went to the bin.
A vintage setting, with the most delicious side dish of pumpkin fritters with each meal. I am dreaming about those pumpkin fritters. The food is beautifully presented and is a generous portion. The staff are excellent and the setting is what makes the entire experience.Beautiful setting of wine yards and nature. Such a bubbly place to have some good wine and just get in touch with nature.
Beautiful setting, great view. Staff at the restaurant are really nice. Relaxed feel and love the old fixtures at the restaurant. The tasting room is a must, their service is absolutely perfect. We love Patrick!!!
WARNING: Not kid friendly, the play area has nothing to do with the restaurant and if you want to take your kids there you wont be served.Edit: Based on feedback from the owner I have to take responsibility that the fault lies with the google search engine recommending the wrong restaurants. Its not Zevenwachts fault for showing up on kid friendly restaurants near me. I would still recommend that considering how far out it is and with photos of jungle gyms you either remove the photos of play areas to avoid confusion and turning away disappointed parents and kids who endured the drive out.Other than that the venue is breathtaking, we looked at the menu and its very well priced, the food I saw looked really good and the waitress handled the situation very professionally plus with the quick and timely response from the owner warrants us going back to give them a fair chance, without kids.
Beautiful views, excellent food, service very friendly and accommodating.
The coolest restaurant I have ever been to
Nice atmosphere, great service and the food is good too
Tranquil venue ❤lovely venue for good food and pic nics
Very nice venue, friendly staff.
.....this was our first visit to this venue and now I understand why its named Zevenwacht Country Restaurant, when you leave the main road and pass through the security gates its still a long winding road ahead that passes forest of tall tree, theres a large lake and its really beautiful when the cottage lights reflect on the waters, really true country setting! You are met at the door by a local host or waitron. Our host was Nadia very pleasant helpful and always serving you with a lovely smile! The restaurant is in a old cape dutch house, impressive when you behold it for the first time! The house has many rooms which have been set out as individual dinning rooms allowing for a maximum of 16 guest, 3 tables for 4 and 2 tables for two almost very private and intimate! And what was more awesome was that each room has a fire place with a log fire going! We tried the Zevenwacht Bouquet Blanc which was a semi-sweet fruity white wine, truly pleasant on the taste-buds! They offer a lovely brown seed loaf & french bread with pure butter! Mmmmmmmish! As we are meat eaters we settled for the 300g Sirloin served with potato wedges, with sauteed mushrooms in a brown very savoury sauce and a toss-salad! The teaks was insidious-lii succulent and prepared just as ordered! The place is well decorated with lots of black & white photos relating to the wine industry and lots of old antique furniture, whats also very intriguing is the effects of the many large mirrors on the walls of each dinning room! The outside grounds are a beauty of greenery, shrubs and trees of all dimensions & sizes! A day time visit is our plan for the future to take in more of this beautiful country venue which also provides accommodation on site!..............
Awesome place peaceful... Food and service was excellent and reasonably priced
Looks like a great place. Just looked around the facility. Great picnic areas. Alfresco . Lapas for functions.
Lovely meal! Great service and stunning rustic setting!
Gorgeous views, great food and great service. Its definitely highly recommended.
First the good: the staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. Not so good: service was a bit slow even though the restaurant was rather empty. One of our teapots came with some thick black paste under it. My daughter was already pouring tea when we noticed it and part of it fell into her cup of tea. We asked for another teapot and cup. Apparently they just cleaned the pot, because we got it back half full, plus an empty cup. We got half the amount of tea ordered but was charged full price. It was a cold afternoon and they thankfully got the fireplace going. However, every time the door to the back was opened, in came a gust of cold air and we sometimes had to get up and close it. These unfortunately dampened our experience.
Wonderful! Enjoyed their hearty and homely meals.
Very good service
Delicious food, great friendly service, beautiful surroundings
Always a pleasure to visit this picturesque Stellenbosch wine estate. It lays host to the infamous Eden Experience Festival - always a vibe. Photos to follow
A bit concerning regarding the covid-19 regulations that are not always followed. But it still very convenient.
Awesome food and great atmosphere.
Beautiful estate👌but very disappointed in restaurant luncheon on 1st Jan 2021 - the fillet still had the plastic wrap on the grilled portion served😫 and my family member visiting from KZN, had a coarse black hair in his side salad😫 and was offered a replacement, he opted for side of chips.Waitron looked fatigued, unkempt and tired, no friendly welcome........
Wish I could add another 5 stars
Staff service and food were very good
I organized our department function, 15 people, at Zevenwacht. Food and service was top notch.
Good food, beautiful surroundings, very friendly staff, perfect place for a posh Sunday lunch. Only one suggestion is that a service is extended to the childrens play area for us parents of small children. Even if its just for drinks and a plate of chips...
Bought a pick nick basket, awesome and interesting goodies, children had an Brilliant play day.
Very nice neat clean child friendly ,just wish had more kids stuff on menu
That was once a very good restaurant! Yesterday with friends at lunch. The service was inattentive and completely overwhelmed. The food did not taste at all, was not at all or badly seasoned. The pasta was cooked way too long. The fish was dry. No person at the table, no matter what the main course it was, the food tasted. Only the appetizers - tapas and mussels - were very good. We had to wait one hour for our meal between starter and main course. It was served after we asked. Too bad, the restaurant is very nice. We had it much better remembered! :(((
This just might be one of Cape Towns best kept secrets! Weve eaten here a good couple of times, and weve always had great food. The service is also great. Im surprised there arent many more people - youll have to search hard for better value at a wine farm.
Beautiful setting. Very tasty food
Nice place to have lunch or sundowner, service and staff very good
29 years ago we got married here and we visit when we can and are never disappointed with the friendly staff and the always top quslity food that they prepare and serve.
Zevenwacht will very quickly become your next home away from home. The first time we visited Zevenwacht, we told them we were looking for wedding venues and we had an appointment. We stepped into the cozy restaurant on a cold winter morning where we were warmly welcomed, offered some coffee and completely overwhelmed by the amazing smells coming from the kitchen. We immediately made a lunch booking, no matter how the venue tour went.Zevenwacht is captivating, with its magical gardens, farm land and pond, whether you choose the woods or the grass for your ceremony, you cant go wrong, I guarantee it.We chose the lapa for our reception with a buffet food option, and wow, absolutely amazing. 6 Months down the line and I seriously still crave the buffet foods! The staff was amazing, dancing with us and generally great spirits and lovely, professional and extremely attentive attitudes, we absolutely love the Zevenwacht team.Huge thank you to Francois for handling our wedding so beautifully.Their restaurant is one of the crowning gems of Zevenwacht, we have made decades of memories in a few short years visiting them, the food is outstanding, the team is top notch and the location is captivating.Thank you to the Zevenwacht team for making this place what it is!P.S dont miss out on the wines and touring the lands a bit, the chalets on-farm are really lovely too, beautiful views and a short distances from the restaurant
Food and wine were great. Service lacking. Disappointing in these times.
Beautiful environment and love their wine. Cant wait to go back
Its a beautiful gem, hidden in the Kuilsriver hills. Its quite a long drive when one enters the Zevenwacht complex to the restaurant. Its a nice place with lots of greenery and small lake surrounding the restaurant. It appears one could use a kayak to row relaxingly on the lake. The food, wine and desert was awesome. The waiters too were quite pleasant and friendly. I will definitely visit again.
Lovely setting. Old Manor House overlooking dam with trees, shrubs - really very special. Food was well presented although the steak was not very tender. I will definitely go back but will just order something else. Pepper sauce was really good. We had their Rose wine. Lovely color and good. A restaurant in a lovely setting.
Great Christmas lunch at Zevenwacht Restuarant. Will come back again
The place is beautiful, excellent service. Shout out to Nicole
So lovely. Kind accomodating staff. Restaurant is beautifully situated over looking a dam. Peaceful. Food delicious. Not a lot of variety in the buffet breakfast option but still delicious.
