My parents love this place but its not for me. I dont like the food and the service is far from smooth. But hey its my dads favourite restaurant so give it a try.

Had high hopes seeing this restaurant was located next to exclusive restaurants on the waterfront. Ordered baby calamari as starter and mussels in garlic wines sauce.Plates were cold and the starter looked simple. Tasted okay, but not really good. The main was terrible. The sausage was very thick and the plate was cold too. Only got a few mussels and they werent Too good either. Service wasnt quick or very outstanding.

Always loved the restaurant, but could not found it at V&A lately. What happened to it.

We are regular upmarket customers of the Hildebrand. I publish my name even with my comments. Had out staff breakfast, ACADEMY OF INVENTIVE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY , as well as a birthday function there this week. As usual excellent food and service.

A horrible experience started on our arrival on Christmas eve to find that our car registration was never given to security, making it very hard to get access to the restaurant parking. The table we booked was occupied by another party so we had to settle for an alternate table with less of a view.The sparkling wine we always order was out of stock and was offered an alternative bottle at a similar price by the manager whom seated us, or so we thought...Our starter, snails, arrived cold and we only received its occupying dish after asking for it a 3rd time.As main courses, I ordered the prawn pasta in which I got 3 tiny pieces of prawn in the whole dish. My wife ordered the Cajun Calamari, now before I get into this, we love VERY spicy food but this stuff was uneatable in terms of spiciness. Along with that, the dish was dry as it was served with no sauce , nor was one offered, not even for the chips which took up most of the plate.Upon receiving our bill we discovered that the sparkling wine was much more expensive than the manager indicated, about R500 ($50 give or take) more. When we asked about it we were told that the price she gave us at the beginning of the evening was PER GLASS and not per bottle. Disgusted at the fact that she failed to mention that it was per glass and the fact that it was far from a similar in terms of price from the bottle we initially requested. Of course she now denied all this.Her attitude suggested we were a nuisance and couldnt be bothered less when I raised all the other faults regarding the food previously mentioned.There are many restaurants in the area and I would recommend any one of them over this one. By far our worst dining experience in our 2 week stay in Capetown, and probably our worst Christmas dinner in South Africa.

Magnificent location. Pity that staff is not friendly and food is in line with the cheap take away. Good for drink or coffee.

Volvo Ocean Race Event Staff November 20141. Supper - piece of plastic found in my supper.2. Asked for salad with my steak - received steak and chips - I asked to exchange the chips for salad - waitress refused and said it only gets served as a starter. After making a scene I received a small side salad. No apologies from the waiter.3. My colleague couldnt stay any longer after ordering her supper as a take away which we asked to serve as soon as possible - waited 35 minutes with very little customers in the restaurant.When I requested my colleges take aways as arranged with the waiter, the take away was given to someone else. No apology from the manager or waiter.4. Next day supper - found a walking worm in my salad and the table next to me. Mentioned it to the manager who said he will report it - No apology from the manager or waiter who just took the plate and left.5.Next day supper - Requested take away supper and received a small salad as requested and a piece of fish with half a lemon in a foamalite container - no veggies or chips.6. VERY unfriendly staff who can hardly greet.What a upleasent experience:(

It was my first time there last night and what a wonderful time we had. At first we were skeptical to go because of the bad reviews, but we are so glad that we did.The food was really really good and service was amazing and the atmosphere beautiful.Thank you for giving us an amazing time

Had coffee, coke and (delicious!) milkshake here per apx. 100 rand, haven´t any problem

An unparalleled setting, but God awful food! What a waste...Had the worst risotto EVER - dry, clumpy and tasted of Aromat. When we asked the waiter if Aromat had been added, he proudly said that it was added to everything!!! Oh. My. God.

Horrible service. Waited 1 hr 15 min, no food, no waiter, no apologies, manager actually told us it was not a problem. Paid for the drinks and left.

Location is great staff are friendly enough but food is second rate, fish no fresh. A genuine tourist hive with better options only steps away.

One of the worst restaurants i have been to regarding food, food taste like its been precooked and its not cheap!

Tasty food however dirty glasses and forks as well as hair in one of our dishes spoiled the evening.

Love it.

If all the restaurants in my area were so good, they would be heavenly conditions.
