Hout Bay Museum is a province-aided museum at 4 Andrews Road in Hout Bay near Cape Town, South Africa. Opened on 5 April 1979, the museum has displays on the history of the Hout Bay valley and its people, focusing on forestry, mining, and the fishing industry up to modern times.
Still more work to be done but I see it is in progress
Could be so much more exciting. And signage or lack of it is sad.
Nice wee museum telling history of Hout bay. It is small and easily done in 45 minutes. Staff were friendly
A modest quiet museum, with some well displayed artifacts. Very disappointed the beautiful indigenously useful fynbos garden with practical and medicinal uses posted with each plant plus name and botanical reference is not anything like it was ? personally i found it very informative and with each visit quiet eager to discover some more!
Was closed before advertised time so we couldnt visit.
Very intresting information of Hout Bays history. Recommend a visit.
We were doing some family history research and the staff couldnt have been more helpful.
A charming village museum focusing on hout bays picturesque past as a fishing and agricultural community. An exciting project for the future was also on display - Dennis Goldberg a struggle hero who stood on trial with Mandela plans to exhibit his art collection at this venue.
It it Friday 4 Jan 19. According to the internet info the museum should be open. It is 10:55. I am standing infront of the gate to the museum and it is closed. I called and the phone just kept on ringing.
Small and wonderful for a birthday or wedding. Able parking as well
