The Armchair has very friendly staff and the back courtyard has a cool vibe. The drinks are a reasonable price and there is loads of space for a large group. Note: We had a very large group and it turns out that the space is not good at dealing with sound so it was very hard to hear one another. We enjoyed our time and will definitely be back soon!

The Armchair Theatre is a unique slice of life in the trendy and alternative Observatory main road.I would definitely recommend a visit; you will not find this anywhere else. With a mix of fancy and grungy, you are sure to find what you prefer either inside with the civilised, or outside with the more easy-going vibes.Between the food (that is both damn tasty and grandly proportioned) and the persuasive drink specials, my 6th bonus star has to go to the actual fire pit in the outside area. Bravo!

Kak lekker vibe, live music and decent beers on tap. Sometimes takes a while to take a drink at the bar, but these days being used to the fridge might be biasing my perception.

My place my place i love it everything about the whole place, its home for me and some of my mates!! Great food. Especially that theyve got a veg/vegan burger and pizza and a salad too! I love how this place was changed to create a more relaxing vibe with a lounge type of setup. This makes it more friendly to the public and gives more opportunities to meet new people.

Great venue. Lots of live music. Check there social pages for line ups. Great sound on the in-house PA. Awesome hamburgers, really great tasting. Pizza also great tasting. Lots of on tap Beer to choose from. The staff was friendly and efficient. Must say a very nice venue. We will most definitely be returning in the future to watch some great local SA musicians.

Visited cape tattoo studio up stairs at the arm chair theatre...the smells of the delicious braai downstairs permeated the room. Beer jug special was a welcome relief in the heat after my tattoo was complete. Great atmosphere..really like the revamp of the place.

Genuine place, good food, great live performances. The head Chef is one of the kindest human beings I have ever met. He made my heart swell with so much appreciation. Cannot wait to come back soon, and enjoy that bonfire with a few drinks. I highly recommend this place!

I enjoyed my evening here - attended a quiz night with friends and had the best of times, since it was more than a year since we had attended a quiz evening due to COVID. The spacing of tables was great for proper social distancing, their pizza was good as well.

Quirky and fun. Good selection of drinks. The pizzas have an amazing thin crust but sadly arent the best (by no means are they terrible though)

Stunning courtyard space with a great firepit, super friendly staff, amazing craft beer on tap right next to the superb stage with copious space for live music performances, some of the finest freshly made burgers to boot, and of course, Covid precautions are spot-on. Definitely recommended.

Great venue, has a beautiful outside courtyard for many people to sit and chat. Clean bathroom facilities and a fully equipped kitchen for munchie needs.There’s a beautiful stage for performers to get up and do their thing, plus lots of space for people to dance their hearts out.
