We went to the restaurant on the ground floor, next time we’ll try also the bar at the top floor. Food was tasty and fun, we had lots of starters cause they sounded more interesting than the mains. Don’t miss the fries, the bao bun, the chicken skewer and the cheese cake.

Lovely aesthetic and great vibe.Loved their signature fries!Wasn’t really impressed with the mains it tasted so bland, it needs more salt, Asian flavour, something.I don’t know maybe Asian chefs to make the Asian dishes?Waiter was friendly but overall service was unnecessarily slow. We waited 10mins to get the wine we ordered and then got served our starter after our mains. There was one waiter serving 5 tables. Not sure if that caused the delay. Better system needs to be put in place.Otherwise I loved the mochi donuts!Definitely will be returning the roof top bar looks like an absolute vibe and definitely will be trying their starters but not those mains. It needs work.Lacking serious flavour.

The food will have you coming back while the service has you looking for the nearest door!Tjing Tjing is a vibrant Asian inspired three-floor restaurant that promises a lot and delivers mostly from delicious food to a great vibe. However, you will spend most of your night begging for service in this stunning setting. From bartenders to waiters everything takes time. The average wait time for drinks was unnecessarily long and don’t get me started on ordering food! The three-floor restaurant has great menus but floor specific menus. What does this mean ? It meant that, I as a customer walked three flights of stairs to order a cocktail from the top floor and paid to eat it on the bottom floor with my dinner. Three restaurants with one name in one space should be better integrated - the individual-ness is unnecessary.I would go back for the chips - my word have the chips! Everything else of my order needed more slat but the chips are out of this world. We’re going back for the food with a seat at the nearest exit for a quick pay and exit! (If that is even possible)

This is the cutest little spot I tried out a while back. It’s truly a hidden gem the restaurant is called Torii it’s part of @tjingtjinghouse . Better known as tjingtjing the food is so fresh and I was mesmerized by the bright colors and Japanese art it’s aesthetically pleasing from the moment you walk in to the time you leave.🍜🍜Try it out I would definitely recommend it. Great for hang outs. Upstairs is a beautiful bar where you can have drinks and keep it social. The people who work here were also super friendly and I think for what you’re getting the prices are affordable.

3rd floor is a bar with lounge chairs inside and seating outside. Dimly lit with ambient lighting to set the mood, great for drinks before dinner. Staff are friendly and can make custom drinks on request, cocktails are quite pricey but delicious.2nd floor was closed when I was there.1st floor has a bright restaurant with Japanese wallpaper and red neon. Staff were attentive and food was tasty & arrived quickly. Menu is limited and they didnt have ramen that we were hoping for but tried out other dishes. Portion sizes are bulked up with too much rice and too little meat, so not great value for money.6/10

What a great experience! In the heart of Cape Town city … it has a feel of New York off the street and has three levels of various experiences… start casual dining at the bottom .. move to fine dining in the middle and a roof top bar with snacks at the top. Each experience was truly enjoyable. I love the fact that they are aware of sustainable fishing and plastic pollution. They do care about the environment and you as they put out fabulous food with flavor and fun as you work your way through their options.Absolutely loved the Poke bowls, sticky chicken … endamame beans and deserts are all just divine!

Saturday, 2 October, we went to Tjing Tjing for a night of great dinning and cocktails. We left very disappointed and won’t be returning soon, if ever. At the entrance we were greeted by a very rude bouncer (not something you would expect when going for a nice dinner in the first place...) He simply told us to leave, because there is no space inside while glaring at us from under his eyes! I then told him we will wait and after about 15 minutes people were leaving and we were allowed in. He was really very rude and unwelcoming. A lot of other people simply left after he showed them away. We got seating upstairs were our waiters attitude was not much better. Then we ordered our favorite the Okonomiyaki Fries only to be told it’s sold out. Sold out already at 18h00! If this is the way you treat your customers and how you will be managing your establishment now, then I don’t see a bright future for you in the future.

Tells my Partner and I that the bigger tables upstairs are reserved, even when clearly stating there are no reservations, and then allowing another couple 15mins later to sit at that bigger table just because no big group has arrived? Waitress couldn’t explain the logic. Service needs work, because what happened was a little unfair. Food is really good and the dumplings are tasty but damn, what a way to start an evening. Just leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you’re not treated equally.

Food was amazing!! It was fresh with a lot of unique and powerful flavours! Loved the interiors, super cool!Only two issues we had was that because the restaurant was full we were seated at the bar area and were told as soon as a table became free we would be moved so we could eat there but when I noticed the waitress seating another group and asked why we werent given a table she said its because youre a group of three and theyre a group of four. She was a bit rude about it and her reasoning made no sense. Please dont set up an expectation if it cant be fulfilled. The situation became worse when we later had moved to the rooftop bar after settling the bill. The same waitress came up and rudely said we were short on the bill and if we can immediately come downstairs to settle it. When we went downstairs to try and settle the bill there was so much confusion because the manager had made an error because when we recalculated it we realised we actually overpaid the bill. After much confusion and debate we sorted it out. What was disappointing though was that there was no apology from the waitress or manager after insinuating we had not paid the bill in front of their whole staff. We found that waitress condescending and abrupt and it unfortunately makes someone hesitant to return.Again the food and ambience was so good but hope issues like this wont pop up again.

Tjing Tjing is a gem. I never knew that a Japanese restaurant and bar was open in town until I went there with some colleagues. The interior is welcoming with a rather tall and long staircase heading up to the second floor where there looks to be a private booth for a small group with its own bar, and then your final stop is the rooftop bar where you can chill to some music, the woody scent of the roof, or sit outside and enjoy the small kiln fire that they have going. The vibe is relaxed, the booze menus (plural), as long as your arm, and the prices of some of them are something which youd spend on if you were rather on the other side of the divide in Cape Town.Since Tjing Tjing is a Japanese style venue, you can definitely find Japanese whiskey here, something which I have been wanting to try for a while now, and which was delicious.Service is fast and efficient, if a little cold though, but I supposes anyone could have an off day now and then.I will be returning there one day with some friends to try the food.So for now I can recommend it if you want to stop over for a few drinks.

The service is an indisputable 5 stars. The ambiance and environment is quite the upmarket trendy Japanese restaurant as promised. There is however a trick to that. The parking and the waiting list... theres quite the wait for a table but the host is very friendly and attends to you soon as possible. The drinks was nice. My only issue was with the ramen. We ordered ramen. The host was really attentive but the time until the food came was quite a while. The broth of the two ramen was okay I guess. The vegetarian one had depth, with a hint of kelp but was considerably overpowered by sesame. The meat broth was rich and flavourful. The portions were also fine. Theres a large bowl of ramen full of broth. The garnishes however wasnt too impressive even though aesthetically pleasing. Also wasnt too impressed with the ramen. Lacked both firmness and elasticity? I understand that ramen sometimes is either more firm or more elastic but the serving last night was neither. Nonetheless perhaps give the other items a try but the ramen was definitely not the best Ive had.
