Great Italian Food.Exceeded my expectations.Ate a great Norwegian Salmon!

This place had the most delicious wood oven pizza base I’ve ever had (the thin base is “roman style”).They do have R99 pizza and pasta options which I highly recommend taking advantage of; and all their cocktails are half price everyday between 4pm and 7pm.You can also opt for a thick crust with a thin base for an extra R10, “neapolitan style”, which I definitely recommend with the (v) Melonchino Napoletana pizza- R99.I’m not a fan of mint but their “frozen jack” cocktail was surprisingly tasty and refreshing.Its an upstairs restaurant with a decent view of the V&A Waterfront, I recommend sitting outside, though their indoor decor seemed inviting.Their food comes out really quickly when it’s not busy, I visited on a Sunday at around 4pm which was really relaxing.I have absolutely no complaints, the owner (I’m guessing) greeted us at the door, the manager was so friendly and reassuring and our waiter, Tafadzwa served us well.I will have a video review on my Tiktok and Instagram so watch out for those (@pashieb)

Absolutely abysmal. No taste in any of the food and the wait time was ridiculous. Waitress service was very poor and she had a bad attitude. Would not recommend at all.

Booked a table for restaurant week. I arrived before the time. Management kept me waiting for 15 minutes before finding my table even though the restaurant was semi empty. I requested a table next to the window but I got placed elsewhere. We ordered drinks which came after about 30+ minutes. Ordered food which arrived at our table over an hour later. Waitress said she would find out from the kitchen what was going on. Didnt return. A table of other patrons who arrived after us got their mains served long before us. What was advertised on the menu for restaurant week was a different quality at the actual restaurant and lacked ingredients i.e. the cherry tomatoes for all mains . I ordered the steak. It arrived dry and tough for me and my guests even though we all asked for medium ...it was medium to well-done and the cut of meat was poor quality. I sent mine back it arrived almost the same. I decided to just eat it as my guests had finished their dinner , although the quality of meat was better the second time around. I ordered the chocolate mousse it arrived frozen and tasted fatty ..no liqueur to mention. My cocktail lacked actual alcohol content in it and I ordered 2 different ones . And that final clincher was that on set menus they charged you 10% as gratuity automatically. We were a party of 3 people not 6-10 . When my bill came they put 10% on the entire bill not just the 3-course meal , which I paid anyway. A truly dreadful experience . Never returning.

Waitress was completely unhelpful. Very poor service. Dont be fooled by the R99 special.UPDATE: The owner was kind enough to invite us back as guests. The food and service was impeccable. Absolutely superb. Its just a shame that we didnt receive this service and quality prior to a bad review

Had an enjoyable evening despite not pre booking. They were able to accommodate our party 4 and despite a looming curfew time, we never felt rushed to end our meal. Their menu have a good selection and halaal sourced meat and no pork on menu. Excellent views of the harbour added to ambience of the evening.

It was quite cold inside so dress for that. The food was also just okay, it wasnt the best pasta Ive ever had. Their R99 pizza and pasta special was very cool though. There was just no vibe though.

View is great and the beer is cold... Thats as much as a positive I can rate this place.First thing they offer is still water for the table that cost R45... Which I think is crazy expensive.Food wasnt great and the survice was okay but I think they can do better.My wife took Spaghetti and I took a pizza but in all honesty it wasnt very good and my Wife couldnt even eat 2 spoons of it.This is the second time I visit this place and unfortunately both times it was the same service so I cant say I will return or advise anyone to eat here.

On Saturday the 1st of May my partner and I went to Meloncino for lunch. My partner ordered the ‘Ravioli Di Prosciutto a Otto’ and I ordered the ‘Pesto Parma’ Neapolitan style pizza. We shared the meals half/half.My partner was the first to express his disappointment to me. The ravioli was incredibly watery and bland. It almost tasted like water had got inside of the raviolis whilst cooking. The description on the menu sounded delicious. Whenever my partner sees ravioli on a menu he orders it and has never received anything as bad as this.For the Neapolitan style pizza base they charge you an extra R10. The pizza which I received was far from what a Neapolitan style pizza base should be. All I received was a thick, dense crust pizza. It was extremely disappointing, I would’ve rather ordered a thin base and not spent the extra R10.The reason we didn’t want to complain is because we were planning to use the Entertainer 2-for-1 meal discount, so we felt bad to also complain about the meals. When requesting the bill we informed the waiter we’d be using the Entertainer voucher and were told we can’t use it that day as it was a public holiday. In the rules of the Entertainer you can’t use the vouchers on a public holiday - which is fair enough. He then told us not to worry though because our pizza and pasta are both on special at R99 per meal and went off to print our bill.When we received our bill we were charged full price for our meals and when I asked why he said “oh no I made a mistake your meals are full price”. By then I was a bit frustrated and felt like I needed to make a complaint about the quality of our below average meals we had just received, which we were now having to pay almost R200 for each. I even asked him if he could describe how a Neapolitan style pizza base should be to which he described exactly how the pizza base SHOULD’VE been served. He just said “oh sorry”. We told him how awful the watery pasta was to which he also replied “sorry”. We were so frustrated we just paid our R650 bill for our 2 below average meals and left. Before leaving we told him we’d never come back again. All he said was “sorry”. He walked off and stood around chatting to another waiter, clearly not even going to give feedback to a manager/chef.I’ve eaten at Meloncino a few times in the past, the food was delicious and service was excellent. Paying the amount we did for a meal that is great would’ve been fine but paying that amount for such awful meals made us feel very unsettled and disappointed for the rest of the day. Unfortunately after this experience we’ll not go back again.

Great place and decent food however that’s where it ends.Waitress had to be constantly checked upon and reminded for items and orders.Steak had the most obscene amount of sinew, such poor quality.Halal-Friendly but serve pork...never seen before, might as well advertise as a non-halal restaurant. I can understand alcohol makes it halal-friendly, but every other restaurant in SA understands what applies for halal-friendly.Definitely won’t be returning to this restaurant!

Exorbitant prices for mediocre food. Thick base pizza wasn’t thick at all. Service was not what you’d expect from such a high end establishment. We witnessed waiters openly arguing with a foreign tour guide regarding orders. Our waiter was almost uninterested and seemed to give preferential treatment to certain patrons. Highly disappointing, won’t be returning here.

Great Italian restaurant situated on the upper floor of the Waterfront - boasting views of table mountain and the cape wheel. Seating both indoors and outdoors. However, be sure to book in advance, especially over weekends.Food is absolutely delicious. Certainly recommend their pizza and pasta - the ravioli specifically. Prices are more than usual - catering more for tourists of course. However, their bottled water is ridiculously expensive - R40 for a bottle of still water for two people.

Fine dining experience. The manager checked up on us more than 3 times. Menu has lots of Italian words but the waiter Unique explained everything to us very well. The best dish was the fagotinni di pollo (stuffed chicken breast) and sorbet.

Stunning authentic Italian food in a beautiful setting. While the menu is large and accommodates many tastes, the pasta and pizza is really special and distinguishes Meloncino from other pretenders. Cocktails are a bit hit and miss, but the brandy cocktail I had last time was phenomenal.

Had a nice time for lunch. I had multiple requests for my main - Aglio Olio style, Tagliolini pasta, Prawn, Chilli which is not in the menu and it was well presented.

Best Pasta Ive had in a long time

If I could I would give them negative stars. The food was cold, and the MANGER says it’s because we were sitting at the door on a chilli night... THE FOOD ARRIVED FROM THE KITCHEN COLD. On top of that, the food was bland. I could’ve made a better meal at home.

One of the top restaurant as far as the taste and the quality they have a lot of choices to select between food and drinks their menu is very diversity and they have a lot of good options the test is excellent the cleaning is high the surface is outstanding it is highly recommended to try and enjoy the setting

We had such a great time. The food and cocktails has a little bit of a wait. But completely work it. The pasta, pizza and cocktails was excellent. We decided to try the tiramisu was to die for!!! Highly recommended!

The day one, second and ı had had good food ever. I ate beef and margarita pizza and Tuna Salad. Delicious! But ı gave 4 stars because service was slow.

Worst food ever!!! Worst service ever!!! We had breakfast got served blue eggs and burned croissants. Had to get up and ask for serviettes. Waited a very very very very very long time for drinks and then waited some more for food. Preserves that was given with meal was half open. When manager saw me taking pictures of the meal she did offer to.give it for free. Good thing cause I didnt eat much. Really expected a lot more from this restaurant.

Cozy and warm. Upon first impressions youll feel like you are exactly where you are supposed to be. Great for a date, its on the entertainer app. If you do go there for a date know that after the aesthetics have worn off the rest of the date rests on you. The manager is great the rest moves a little slow. Felt ignored at times but I had good company. Desert is better than the pizza.

The food was not bad, but it was sadly very mediocre for the prices they charge. We had bread for a starter, expecting at least something home-made, but it tasted like Sunday night old bread from the local 7-eleven. For mains I had the bolognaise and my husband had a pizza. Nothing authentic about it. The only Italian thing about this place was the songs that the very talented opera singer in jeans and a golf shirt was singing. Service was not bad, but not good either.

Excellent food with equally excellent service, and you get one of the best views at V&A Waterfront. The food was so yummy that we went TWICE during our vacation at Cape Town. The managers keep the place running smoothly. Seriously cant ask for more.

The service is excellent, manager was constantly checking up on us (hes cute also). Its a great place for a relaxed evening out with friends/family. However the food was insipid, my friend had the seafood pizza and I had the seafood pasta... maybe invest in another chef, otherwise the overall experience was a good one. Also the cocktails are delicious.

What a cool place. This restaurant gives 5 star service while offering an affordable menu. The ambiance is great for either couples or friends enjoying a culinary experience right on the water front, it even has a gorgeous view! I had the seafood pasta (I chose the risotto option), it was scrumptious. My husband only eats gluten free food and he could almost choose anything on the menu, which is not usual. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic as well. He really made the experience extra special. The manageress is also very attentive without being awkward. Thanks so much everyone! We had a great time and it wasnt even an occasion, but most memorable.

It is without a doubt one of the restaurants with the best views around. The staff is friendly and we were quickly assigned a heater since it was getting a bit cool around dawn.They have a special on cocktails, pasta and pizzas before 7 which I saw quite a number of guests enjoy.My wife had the ravioli which were sub par in my view. The ravioli wasnt homemade(fresh) and it was thoroughly cooked through. It was an extremely rich dish which was unbalanced and has to much Parmesan on it.My pizza was a bit of a let down, not because it was bad. The waiter suggested mine and I was looking for something Ive not tasted in any franchise but it was similar.Maybe next time Ill go for something else on the menu which will push it up to a 4.I did enjoy the evening and atmosphere!

I really don’t have any recommendations for improvement. We were greeted very graciously, without a reservation and had a nice, private two-top table. The manager on duty checked on us several times and even offered to share the recipe for the Pesce Fresco with me. The seafood dishes and salads were outstanding. We had great, personal, friendly service. It was a full house, but we were still able to enjoy quiet conversation.

Meal was below average.

Would not eat here for free. Food was not good. Carbonara was bland and pasta not served as requested. Starter pizza bread was best part of the whole visit. Food took hours to get out of the kitchen. I think they need real Italians in the kitchen or needed new kitchen staff with passion based on other reviews as well.

Nothing less than a five star experience. What a great restaurant for Italian cuisine. Atmosphere and food come highly recommended. One of the best places to eat in the waterfront.

Delicious food! Only small problem is you cant use the in-restaurant toilets because of the Capes drought. Understandable, but it still does take away from the dining experience. Hands down best pizza Ive had in Cape Town though.

A total let down in terms of food. For an authentic Italian restaurant, the pizza was surprisingly bad. Service was decent and the view is Spectacular!!! but not enough to ever step a foot back in this place.
