Amazing food! Jalapeno poppers, pizzas and pasta dishes were 1st class. A friend also said they make the best ribs in Cape Town! Atmosphere was cozy but buzzing at the same time. A spot that will definitely not dissapoint!! A must to visit when you are out and about in the Mother City!!

Good menu with decent wine options and a few craft beers on tap. Seared tuna steak was a little heavy on the crushed peppercorns but was fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious. Great bistro feel. Waiter was completely clueless about the menu...some training is in order but everyone was friendly enough

This is a quaint and atmospheric restaurant/bar tucked away on Derry street. The staff make the place homely. Very laid back. Varied menu and good selection of wine. Large portions and very reasonably priced. Worth more than just one visit.

Good vibe good food friendly staff

Expensive for what it is. Pizza came about an hour after ordering (place wasnt full)- when it came it was almost burnt, just edible enough not to send back. It seemed we were forgotten about as they left the pizza in the oven, and our server as well. The place could have a vibe, they try through specials and quiz nights. Honestly should be a pumping venue but it is easy to see why its not. Its a bar/restaurant that is peoples local place to have fun, just without the noise.

Went early and basically had the restaurant to ourselves. Id rate it 5 stars but the waiters managed to not see us waiting time and again.Despite that I keep going back because other than that it really is great.

A cozy authentic pub to go for drinks. Friendly owners and the food is excellent. They sometimes have live music too. Rugby and big matches are shown. Try the pizza, you cant go wrong.

I have only had very good coffee there. My son had a lunch and he was extremely satisfied. Nice ambiance and service was good.

Not quick enough

Awesome atmosphere, great setup and decor. The food selection available is great. From grills to amazing pizza and pasta options. They have a fully licensed bar that has a great wine selection. Every time I have gone here I have not been disappointed. Service is top notch. They offer great specials as well.

Loses 1 star because they allow me in. :). I see that there are a few complaints about specific pizzas being a bit plain. The solution to that is simple. They allow one to add or remove certain ingredients. I always order the Fab, but I add fresh tomato to it and ask that the feta be put on after the pizza comes out of the oven. Makes all the difference.

Friday night, lovely log fire, good service but the pizza was the WORST pizza I have ever been served! Micro thin, hard dry base with a dried thinly spread tomato paste, no cheese that I could see and a few dried up bits of Parma ham. I didnt complain as I was being taken out and my host enjoyed her meal but the waiter thankfully saw my plight and added a teeny bit of grated cheese. Not good for Pizzas sadly.

Never a dull moment at Carlyles. Always a welcoming and warm reception. The vegetarian pizza is my absolute favourite pizza in town, delicious.I have recently started eating their burgers too and I have to admit, their blue cheese burger is EPIC! Well prepared with top quality ingredients and they are not shy on their portions either. Great wine list, friendly staff and a fire place. Live music, happy hour, specials. If you havent been, do yourself a favour.

The restaurant itself deserves 5 stars. Staff and food is great. But I recently ordered takeaway from Carlyles. They have a separate take away area from the restaurant with pizza oven and they now do make burgers as well. When I picked up my food i saw a huge hygiene issue . I kept it private and sent the owners an email explaining that what i saw when picking up my food really took away my appetite! What astonished me is that they didnt even reply on my email, indicating to me that they really dont care about customers. I didnt namelessly complain on the net, I took the time to contact them directly and NO REPLY! I will never order takeaway foods from their takeaway kitchen again. Yuck!

I love Italian food and I regularly go out for pizza to different places in Cape Town. My favourite spots were Colcchacio, then Posticino, but I recently went to Carlyles and I was totally blown away - this was the best pizza Ive ever had. The place is very casual and humble, our waitress was super nice and friendly, I cant wait to go back - I will definitely be eating here often in future

Our meals at Carlyles were excellent. Four of us had cob, lamb shank, ribs and Thai chicken. All good except Thai chicken could have had some bread accompanying the dish.

This is a smoking place. Heads up to non -smokers. Non-smoking areas are not truly non smoking. There is smoke everywhere. It ruins the otherwise really good food. Great live music. Nice activities. Lekker local drinking hole etc.

Great atmosphere! There is a wide selection of drinks, Friendly staff, and frequently changing specials. Not a place for young kids, but it is still quite casual. Their signature dish is the Lamb Shank, it is divine.

Lovely little Italian pizzeria/ pasta place. Try sit outside (unless the wind is blowing, then you might just float away along with half your pizza) staff could be a bit more attentive/ better trained, otherwise not a bad place at all.

Love it here. Cosy inside fireplaces for when its raining and lovely seating outside when its hot. Food here is delicious too, try the pulled pork pizza!

Best pizzas ever amazing pastas and the are so many this to chose from. It not really suitable for young children but 9,10 and up is fine .event month there have quiz night and lots of other really fun nights and they have wine tasting and etc.

After more than half an hour of waiting the starters still have not arrived. But the manager did. And then as a magic the food appears followed by the starters. Have they ever heard that starters are to start? They are supposed to come first, that why we order it, thats why we spend money on it. I would skip the starter (and actually the whole visit of this place) if I knew it would take THAT LONG.

Best Pizza in Town!!! Try the Roberto, you can substitute Bacon with Mushrooms if you prefer. Super blue cheese flavour with great texture and no skimping on cheese. Delicious!!!!

Cosy place, Parking can be an issue ( it IS in Vredehoek) been going regularly and have yet to be disappointed by any item on their diverse menu. Great service, booze and food is reasonably priced. Often has events such as quiz nights/wine evenings/live music. Stop wondering about it just go!
