Such a pity in such trying times for restaurants that both our meals were so disappointing. We both had meat mains maybe we would have had better luck with a pizza?? We wont know as we very likely will not return. The sauce tasted like it was from a powder premix just add water and the chips tasted reheated, the meat was rare rather than med rare and the feta& tomato salad was all watery..... sorry but it just was below even average.

I dont know where to start. 5 stars is definitely not enough. We were treated like stars from the moment we arrived until we left, much later in the evening.Anthony and the team were busy which was great to see, but the service was still absolutely great.Now for the food. Wow. Authentic, tasty Italian from the top shelf. Lovely fresh ingredients, bold flavours and mind blowing portions. It was a fantastic experience that I look forward to repeating again soon.To all the chefs, waiting staff and management, thank you for making our special evening out an extra special one.

Unbeatable in terms of value-for-money. One of my favourite places for lunch in leafy, peaceful neighborhood in the southern suburb. Superb lunch special options are available throughout the week - including Saturday!It was an absolute pleasure to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon on their beautiful terrace. For R70, you get to enjoy a choice of various salads, pizza, pasta, tramazzini etc. Portions are always generous. Great service as well.

Best pizza in Cape Town! Their pasta is also ridiculously good. We usually order on ubereats and the food always arrives as hot as it would if we were sitting at the restaurant. Going to Basilico is always a treat. The service is always attentive and friendly. Thank you so much for keeping the standard of everything you do so high. We love your food!

The lunch special at Basilico is great. For just R75 the selection of salads, pasta and superb pizza offers something for everyone! It was delightful to visit with my family again last week ... enjoying a table on the balcony in the afternoon sun with a view of Table Mountain, I just had to add a glass of chilled Rose as we enjoyed our lunch. Well done - the staff are always superb too!

Great food and staff.Covid compliance needs to be worked on but to be honest I wouldnt stress about as you get welcome with temperature checks and sanitizer spray on the way in...Its good to get away and socialise in a well known establishment.Highly recommend.

This is an excellent restaurant if you are looking for a Wood Fired Pizza, the only downside is that they are not halaal but the vegetarian offerings are quite nice such as the Margarita.Thin bases are used so you can enjoy a crispy thin based pizza.

I am very impressed with this place. I went there for lunch with some friends and it turns out they have a lunch special for R65. I had a pizza and a beer. The service was absolutely incredible, had a friendly waiter and the pizza took less than 10 minutes after we ordered. The pizza itself was also amazing!! Lots of toppings, nothing overdone.

Great lunch specials on offer. Easy location in a vibey part of Newlands. Nothing fancy about this spot, although Basilico has been around for years making it somewhat of an institution with a big local following. Decent portion sizes and quality of food. Wine is a bit expensive for the offerings but nothing to break the bank. Will probably never be on my favourites list although it is a convenient location good for a meal with friends or family looking for classic Italian food.

Probably our favourite restaurant, and on the Entertainer app too. Family oriented, without feeling like the spur. Food is high quality, 95% Italian with a few extras. Great bar for a beer in a cozy spot after work too. Pizzas are wood fired and pasta portions are generous. Recommend the Basillico pizza.

Great service, the waiters seem to have the balance between being helpful and being over bearing just right.We only tried the R75 lunch special but the portions were good (particularly the pasta dishes) and there was a sufficient selection for all members of our party to find something they enjoyed.

Tasty dependable Italian. Consistently good. A firm favorite . The Risotto is excellent 👌

Service was terrible actually, no drinks menu and the waitress was not sure of prices either. Had a problem using my Entertainer, 2 for 1 deal but didnt want us sharing 2 pizzas between 3 ladies, havent had this problem at any other place. Waitress wasnt helpful but manager eventually accommodated us. Pizza was really good and the place is small and cozy. Would go back, hopefully will get better service next time.

Lovey quaint restaurant situated in the suburbs. Decent amount of seating space downstairs and upstairs with limited outdoor seating.Food is absolutely delicious. Think based pizzas using fresh ingredients and lovely creamy pastas. The service is decent but the wait can be a bit long when it’s busy.Overall a lovely place to go for a lye afternoon drink or evening dinner.

A great traditional Italian restaurant. The restaurant has a lovely warm feel but with the right mix of modern. There is a good variety of items on the menu, something to suite any pallet. You are welcome to take your own bottle and pay a corkage fee. The restaurant has two levels. Upstairs has great mountain views, while downstairs is more suitable for patrons who may not be able to do the stairs. The entrance isnt strictly wheelchair accessible but it could be a possibility. Parking is across the road.

The pasta portion size is enough for 2 people. Pizza was ok. Great value for money, especially with the lunch special

My partner and I had Pizzas there over the weekend and it was our first time there. The waitrons were friendly and food came timeously. The restaurant is nice inside, we sat on the balcony and really enjoyed the view and ambiance.One of the toppings I had was bacon and I was pleased that this was properly prepared crisp rashers of bacon and not the chunky cubes some pizzerias serve.The pizzas were however loaded with a lot of cheese which personally is not to my liking as this is quite heavy on the stomach and unhealthy. Bases are fairly thin but not very thin. The waiter did not wear his mask covering his nose and mouth - just sometimes only partly covering his mouth.

Great pasta. I had prawn, garlic, chili and cream. The portions are very good. Our waiter was good all staff seemed friendly. We booked a table and I would recommend to book as it was full on a Saturday night.

In a beautiful centre with a cool 2-floor plan! Pasta is absolutely amazing! One of the best pastas Ive had out. Desserts are to die for. But the real best part: PORTION SIZES

A good risotto is hard to find. This lovely place makes superb pastas and risottos. Warm, attentive (without being intrusive) service, stylish decor and fabulous views. One of our favourite Southern Suburb restaurants.
