Great hikingtrail. Its harder then it looks. Its not a easy walk and you should wear proper shoes. You have to climb some ladders and its though in your knees. But the view is amazing. If you go up for Sunset bring a flash light with you.

My people I am back with a review of the Lions Head Hiking Trail.🤪😜 On a burn of 700 calories just by going all the way to the top and bottom, makes this experience way more beneficial than we would think! It took my family and I a good hour going up as we stopped many times to enjoy the view, fresh air and to take pictures. This estimated 2-3 hours was probably one of the most memorable time spent with my family as it took us motivating each other and pushing and pulling each other up the mountain. Things that family is supposed to do for one another. So therefore I recommend this activity for all types of families. Especially broken ones. You will see alot of friendly strangers wishing you luck up on your way to the top. All the motivation you could possibly need to accomplish the trail. The trail is challenging as it is steep, rocky and will challenge any sort of fear for heights. However it is not impossible. Many families carry infants on their bodies, many take their children and some even took their pets such as dogs and birds. This trail could be accomplished going up and down within an hour and a half by yourself. I definitely see myself challenging the trail on my own, for days when I feel under the weather as the feeling of success when you get to the top can manifest way more success and boost your confidence to tackle any challenge you may face in life. The mountain is clean and animal friendly. Please dont take any cigarettes or lighters or matches for safety reasons. Wear lots of sunscreen.

We went on a lovely, warm Saturday afternoon, got to see the sunset and full moon. Its a relatively quick route and beginning friendly as it has ladders and handholds for the really steep parts of the trail. Its the equivalent of circling the hill twice and offers amazing 360° views of the city. Definitely worth the trip.

Many stories to be told about this mountain of course stating the obvious that the lions futures can be seen from a distance signal hill forms part of the body lion head... Ive captured the shadow of lions head in one of these photographs have a look its really worth hiking this trial all through the first few meters up the mountain is a steep incline and do practice caution when going down this mountain chances of losing your balance is higher than usual please remember your water.... Cooling down your body with some water lowers the blood pressure in your head. Makes it easy for your body to handle the symptoms of heat recovery

First time doing the trail, I decided to do it just before sunset and summit in time to watch the sunset. It was a very easy and short trail thats worth doing. There are 2 ladders if you take the route without staples but theyre well mounted and safe. There will be parts where youll need to climb over some rocks or do some high stepping but nothing too difficult.Coming down is quick and easy, though bring a flashlight if youll be in the dark either going up or down. Overall the hike up took me about an hour and down took about 35 minutes. It all depends on your speed, fitness and how many breaks you take. I walked the whole thing though I take long strides. The view and experience is worth it and Id recommend. Though please ensure you dont litter as some people seem to think its fine to leave behind bottles, tissues or cigarettes.

Amazing hike. Very steep incline at the begging, followed with a few stairs. Some ladder climbing and minimal rock climbing. There are chains and handles for you to use. The rock climb is about 2-3m high. Very easy climb, you can go around the rock climbing.

Its an adventurous hiking trail🔥. I loved walking up the mountain and the beautiful view it has (table mountain, camps bay, Robben Island) which makes taking pics as you walk up the mountain fun. I also love the challenges you come across as you go up the mountain, such as rock climbing and the trail with chains🌟. Theres a great view up the mountain⛰. Looks short but its pretty adventurous and somehow challenging.

Easy hiking trail, there two was to get to the top via ladders, chains and steps or the longer route around the mountain. Loved the experience of going up via the ladders, steps and chain. The view on top is worth it. Cape Town is a beautiful place. If your scared of heights I do not recommend you do the ladders, chains and steps.

It was intense but manageable.Very important tips are to make sure you wear light comfortable, loose clothes, proper sneakers and enough cold water. Water is very important. I see people with Jeans and thick shirts, which will make for some hot heavy walking. Be properly prepared for the walk and you will enjoy it and be safe.

The best way to have spectacular views of Cape Town peninsula. A 5 km walk in total. You need to climb up and down with 2 ladders in total. Not recommended if you have a fear of hights.

Review №18

If you looking for a great 360° of Cape Town, this is the place. Depending on your fitness level it should take about 30-60 mins to the summit. Peak times are morning sunrise and evening sunsets. This route is not as technical as other summits on table mountain.

A great hiking experience with a fantastic view from the top.Parking: When we arrived on a Monday morning, it was quiet and there was ample parking available at the start of the trail. However, I can imagine it can be challenging to find nearby parking over the peak season and on the weekends.Hike: It takes about 45 minutes to an hour each way depending on how fast you go. Some parts of the trail are not well marked but there are usually enough people around to tell that you are going in the right direction. Near the top there is a recommended route and the ladders and chains route which is for the fitter and more adventurous climbers. I found the latter part of the hike quite strenuous as it involves steep uphills and climbing. But the view at the top makes it worth it.Preparing for the hike: remember to take sun screen, a hat and water.

Think Ive hiked it close to 30 times nowThe beauty gets me each time with the amazing views. Its a easy hike if youre fit. If you go regularly you might manage to not even break a sweat. But if you dont get out much it can prove as a challenge, youll feel those upper legs on the morning 🤣The trail is safe, the climbing with chains & iron handles is more my favorite part. Its not as bad as it looks, the annoying thing is the traffic on Lions head. Its usually very crowded and too busy for my tasteOh and they can really remove that ugly mosque between signal hill and lions head. Its like a pimple on beautiful face 😜

Absolutely superb hike. When you arrive here, follow the trail to the left that goes around the side of lions head facing towards camps bay, the view from here is simply breathtaking! Hike up just before sunset and actually make it to the top of the mountain. I know it can be quite intimidating and maybe even a little scary but its worth it. There is some segments of the hike that require you to climb ladders and hold onto chains, but just be careful and youll be fine. Youll find a lot of people hiking lions head so you can make some friends to guide you to the top but the trail is easy to follow. Get to the top, enjoy the sunset and then wait a little bit longer to see the moon rise. The horizon is painted with flickering orange lights from the city down below. It looks like sparkling diamonds. Its incredible. If you visit cape town you have to do this hike!

This trail was the most intense hiking trail Ive ever been on, but it was worth it. The view all the way from the bottom to the top is just breathtaking. It gets very challenging and scary as you approach the top, in some places youl have to use chains and ladder to climb. The starting point is pretty clear, on your left when you arrive at Lions Head, and you come back the same way. When we started, we didnt know the trail comes back the same way we used going up, so the thought of having to go through what we have already went though scared us even more.Tips: have something to cover your head, hat or scarf, and wear sunscreen

The views are amazing. So are the drops. When people read this I hope they have already experienced this place if not stop reading and just go, sill here? Well daam here we go its among the top hikes to check off your list in general but especially in Cape Town. For me it has alot of everything, trail runners love it, its part of the three peaks challenge and is also a easy day hike you have breathtaking views the whole way up and if all that wasnt enough the crowning jewel so to speak is the top its definatly withouh a doubt worth the climb.

A pre-dawn hike is a prerequite for anybody visiting Cape Town. Headlamps and good safety should always be non-negotiable. Definitely one of the best, most breathtaking hiking trails Ive been on if not the best. Fairly easy hike with great views. They are a few chains and ladders that are quite tricky but there are alternate routes shown by signs which are easier. At the top you can see a 360 view of the city: Table Mountains face, Llandudno all the way to Blouberg beach, the harbour, Robben Island, Greenpoint and the CBD.

A lovely, moderate hike offering mountain and sea views and overlooks all of the Cape Town area. Easy enough for even preschoolers [who have energy and stamina] to accomplish all by themselves. Alternative route to the steeper chained one is a good option for those taking a 4-footed friend with. Lots and lots of people on the trail and no streams to get water, so take enough.

Challenging for beginners. But can be done in 2.5 hours and has some breath taking views. be warned there are a few dangerous zones and crowds to develop even early in the morning. The flora and forna do set the scene and other climbers are usually quite polite. please dont leave any litter up there. There also seems to be a paragliding platform. There are a few ways to get up. The view i 360 at the top depending if the clouds dont come in. Was a memorable day.

Exquisite walk with the most majestic of views. Table Mountain, Devils Peak, Camps Bay, Clifton Beach, Twelve Apostles and more, all appearing at various parts of your circular trip around Lions Head. Using the chains are easy and trouble free, or bypassing then and taking the mildly longer meander all to easy. And the Vida ☕ trailer at the end is the 🍒 to top it all.
