Lovely forest, with a few trails that are easy to moderate. Highlight for me was the sounds of the flowing river and the huge trees.
A beautiful forest with several trails. Its dog friendly but you must have a permit otherwise you at risk of getting fined when the wardens do checks. Several little streams after the rains. Wear good walking shoes as shine of the paths are rocky and slippery. The forest provides lovely tree shade but there are parts that are open. Take water, hat and dont forget sunscreen.
I love this place its an amazing hike and I love that it has different paths and beautiful scenery and that you can walk your doggy child 🥰🥰 take breath taking pictures at the dam and waterfall.
Love going to Newlands forest, perfect way to spend your Sunday afternoon
Lovely in shaded nature. Quite and wholesome. The contour path follows the curves of Table Mountain all the way from Tafelberg Road past the cable car station to Constantia Nek. You can take your dog along, on a leash untill (+- 5 minutes from parking area) high ground and then they can roam free. Pick up #2 is the rule. The Newlands Forest section is particularly well maintained with its wooden boardwalks and elevated picnic area amongst the trees. (The hiking trail not to be confused with the Newlands Forest picnic area which is a different public area next to the Newlands Forest Hiking trail parking area) Dogs enjoy splashing in the stream running through the woods and they may drink their fill from the stream.SANPARK fire fighters operate from the close by Heliport. Basic ablution facilities available.TAKE NOTE: Occasional fairy sightings 🤪🧚🏻♀There are countless hiking trails to explore. A very good and solid golden rule, NEVER go it alone.😊
Lovely and tranquil, lovely walk and flowing water in the streams

This is a stone throw from Cape Town but the forest is so beautiful that you feel like you are not near the city or the suburbs.

Beautiful scenery and fresh air. Lots of dog poop so better watch out for landmines.
Tranquillity at its best
Beautiful walk. Great walking paths for young & old
A easy hike for first timers, you can do this hike during they day as there is a bit of tree cover.
Many people have recommended this hiking trail but do they have picnic spots apart from the braai areas? My family and I are planning to go this weekend

This used to be a great spot for family day out, to let the kids go play in the river, but now if you go walk there I would suggest walking in groups of 4+ as higher up in the forest the criminals like to rob/attack you (they seem to have moved lower down in the past few months) Still a great place to escape into nature though as its so beautiful there still.
A different kinda world. Love it
Great walks for all levels of fitness.
Amazing experience

Lovely experience
Good for exploring and working out. Plenty of spots for picnics and taking nice shots. Variety of flora.
There is tar and gravel paths it is dog friendly there is is also a stream now running strong as we had rains. Just the tranquility of the forest a nice walk and way of destressing
Shady walks
Great place to walk, run or take the dog.
Tranquil, safe and picturesque. There are also multiple paths to explore. Its also dog friendly but you need a My Activity Permit and please pick up after your dogs.
Perfect for birding and dog walking. The park does tend to get busy and full so its advisable to rather wake up early. Many routes to choose from. Bathrooms are at the start of the trails on the left hand side. No shops around so bring snacks and water.
I never get tired of Newlands forest. Accessibility, beauty, peace, shade, water, views, wind shelter... This place literally has it all.Appropriate for young and old, fit or flabby, dog or human.🚶🐕
Beautiful forest. Well kept paths and walks and hikes of different lengths. Requires a My activity permit for walking dogs.
Amazing
Amazing and beautiful hiking trails. It can be a bit confusing trying to come back as there is no exit signs. As a beginner hiker, overall it was fantastic to say the least and it was nice to see so many dogs.
One of my favourite places to run and walk the dog.
Great place to take our dog. Safe - generally always within earshot of other hikers. Not especially gruelling climbs either.
Beautiful walk! Cool in the shade for summer. Take your doggo, it is such fun.
A very nice hiking area. Fairly crowded to begin with, but once youre further into the trail it thins out. Lots of different hiking trails to choose from
Had a great time, the scenery is beautiful and there are a enough signs for information and direction
Nice, quiet and easy going. Fantastic and scenic. For the beginner.

A lovely walk. Such a beautiful forest, and loads of shade.
Lovely, relaxed and dog-friendly venue on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.

Love this trail
Beautiful forest trails and lots of streams.
Great hiking trails around this area. Access to the mountain via many routes, or your can take the contour path around to City Bowl side.
Always worth a visit.
Gorgeous, soulful, rejuvenating and a the most gentle and peaceful experience. All this right next door to a city. Sure, its as busy as NYC but city life is city life and having a large piece of nurturing nature to duck away into is absolutely fabulous.Streams running, river pools, bird life and, higher up, there are breathtaking views. The TMNPs collection of nature reserves are the most precious offering to the citizens of the Western Cape. Here we are reminded of the true values of life and this is what differentiates are quality of life from other provences.Thank you TMNP.
