An easy hike up Elsies Peak will give you a panoramic view of Fish hoek and Simonstown down below. There arent any wonderous sites up the peak, but one can exoect gorgeous views.Dogs are allowed and many locals take their pooches out for a stroll.A map clearly shows the route. We climbed from Glen Cairns side over and came down at Fish hoek. We took the exit to Fish hoek and made our way round the peak at the bottom next to the ocean.About a 2-3 hr walk. With fresh breeze and great views. Pack for all seasons as the weather can change from hot to windy in minutes.
Lovely, fairly easy hike with great views from the top. The first section is a gentle but constant uphill, and not for too long. Then it is mostly along the plateau until a last bit of a climb to the peak, where you get views of Fishhoek, Simons Town, and Noordhoek beaches. It takes about an hour to the top at a relaxed pace. A short, relatively easy but rewarding hike, suitable for beginners.
Great place to walk. Leave nothing behind.
Safe family walk. Picturesque views if the surrounding fish hoek and ocean
A truly magnificent walk. We parked on the Kommetjie road parking area next to the Church and walked a good few steps before tackling the initial uphill mountain walk. The views of Fish hoek, Glencairn Simonstown and the entire False Bay are just gorgeousWhat a wonderful morning.
I love this hike. The views are fantastic, very windy at the very top but thats expected. I wish there was more signage for people who dont know the route.
It was lovely. Kids enjoyed themselves. Moderate walk.
A very nice hike with spectacular views!
Relatively easy climb. Some fitness recommended. The views at the top are spectacular ❤❤❤

Great local walk good view of Fish Hoek and surrounds
Easy to moderate hike (sometimes the trail is slightly steep and rocky - beware of you are not comfortable with that) on a nature trail within the Table Mountain Nature Reserve where you are rewarded with stunning sceneries, flora and fauna.
This is a great walk. Up from the Fish Hoek side. There view at the top is breath taking. With the walk up.
A beautiful view of the sea. Very calming.
Very nice easy hike with an amazing view. Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a leash

Such a beautiful place to hike! Exquisite views of the ocean and false bay.
Moderate hike. Circular route is tough. Two six yr olds did brilliantly. Amazing views. I felt safe and plenty people on route.
Amazing easy climb to top of mountain. It is dog friendly as well
Really nice
Beautiful views over Fish Hoek, Glen Cairn and towards Simonstown, not an easy hike for the unfit but well worth the summit. Just be careful as it is a hotspot for crime.
Fantastic #TBOM14 hike with 180 pax . Breathtaking views of Simons Town , Fish Hoek and Table Mountain National Park.
Brilliant family hiking trail, with excellent views over False Bay.
Its a wonderful hike or a quick training run stunning views. Absolutely love it.
Elsies Peak (303 meters asl)Dist (Our Route) - APPROX. 10 kilometers.Direct route Approx. 6 kilometers, returnDifficulty:- Moderate to HardWeather experienced:- Low wind, 60% cloud cover - no rainStarting at about 70 meters asl, parked in Montain Road Fish Hoek, we started out in the opposite direction of Elsies Peak, as we wanted to extend our hike to around 6 hours, had we headed straight for Elsies Peak, it would only be around 2 to 3 hours. So we headed for Brakkloof Peak at 306.6 meters asl , the trail was very easy, sandy at places, forestry in others but the air temp. was cool and bearable, the ups and downs were not sustained which made for easy hiking on this part of the trail. We took a 5 minute break, had some tea and other refreshments at Brakkloof beacon, then hiked back on the same path for around 2 kilometers, We reached the fork, (pic included), and chose Elsies Peak.We headed up the trail marked Elsies Peak, but we opted for the Polish Traverse, which is not the direct path to Elsies, the Polish Traverse takes one on the East face of the mountain and follows parallel with the main road, way below, and rounds Elsies Peak, past the Quarry Shooting range and approaches the final ascent to Elsies Peak from a Westerly direction, adding about 3 Kilometers. Finally reaching a height of 303 meters asl, which is the height of Elsies Peak at the beacon (see photos). Here one has the privilege of endless Vistas from Muizenberg to way past Simonstown and across False Bay with Hangklip and Rooie Els visible in the distance. Here you will see the mast on top of Elsies Peak, it looks like a cell tower with a few microwave repeaters.A great place for an extended lunch stop, plenty places out of the wind to choose from. After a nice lunch break it is an easy 40 minutes back to the car parked in Mountain Rd. Fish Hoek when taking the most direct route.Elsies Peak Hike is one of our hidden Gems on the Cape Peninsula, well worth the effort to explore and experience this moderate to hard hike, depending on your fitness level, and chosen route for the day. many use this area for abseiling and practice climbing.Take along sufficient water and use appropriate skin protection. Always be aware of your surroundings and fellow hikers/walkers when out hiking. Enjoy
Easy hike, 45 mins up if youre of average fitness (from the Fish Hoek side).
