Just a calming, quiet and beautiful view... you will also find some built in benches and tables if you want to have a nice picnic.
Walked it on one of those perfect Cape days. No wind and a winter sun. The trail is very well maintained with stepping rocks most of the way. The gradient is steep at times but very manageable. The view from the surveyors beacon makes it all worthwhile. Took us 4 hours with our low level fitness and children for the first third of the walk.
Great hike with lovely views of Hout Bay. I would say it is on the lower end of the moderate scale in terms of difficulty. Lots of foot traffic when we went - runners, hikers and dogs. You walk past one or two big streams (winter). Not much shade so I imagine it is boiling to do in the summer. Took us 4 hrs up and down with lots of stops.
Absolutely gorgeous hike! Lekker climbs, but so worth it!!
Spectacular views. Moderate in difficulty in terms of the hike but well worth it when you reach the top!
A great hike thats not too long nor steep with a fantastic picnic spot with a view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. From Hout Bay, one can gain access to the parking lot via Chapmans Peak drive, simply ask for a day pass at the toll gate (free, but check the times on the pass) continue following the road until you reach the day pass turn around point where you will find the start of the trail and parking for your vehicle. Pack a good picnic, have fun and stay safe
The most scenic hiking trail in Cape Town.
The trail is beautiful and exciting wish people can clean their dogs mass
Chapmans Peak, beautiful trail with a view of the ocean some of Capetown and other trails, you can see table mountain from a whole new perspective and lions head, its a beautiful trail very easy and something that visitors would love without a lot of effort. You can also see the wonder of nature where two oceans meet and the waters have different colours and from what I hear different temperatures too. That being said you just might want to try this one its a drive to Houtbay then after the toll gate thats where one can start.
The best views to the Kommetjie Lighthouse, and across Long Beach in Noordhoek, Houtbay and Tokai. Table Mountains back is visible from there on a good day, as well as the three Sentinel Peaks, Karbonkelberg, and Ittle Lions Head. Steep climb up, great picnic spot at the Beacon.
Great hiking trail with killer views of the ocean, you can literally hear the waves. I like that it is shady in the mornings until you get to the top.
A tough hike with kids but well worth it for the views
Incredibly beautiful hike with the best views. Three hours max for the entire hike.
The hike itself is very enjoyable. Rather confusing at the top. The signage isnt well marked. I wasnt 100% of how to get right up to the top of Chapmans Peak itself. Its not a particularly hard trail but can be steep in some areas. You can most definitely bring your dogs and kids with. Make sure you pack a jacket as it can get quite cold and windy at the top. Water and sunblock are a good idea too. The views are spectacular so dont forget a cellphone or a camera.
What an amazing walk, the ups are gradual and the views are exquisite!
It was amazing
Comfy walking.
Wonderful hiking trails with beautiful scenery.
One word for this place - Awesome! Definitely one of the highlights of our trip, we visited this place twice once in evening and once in afternoon. We were mesmerized with the beauty of it and would definitely recommend to visit it.
Chapmans Peak, Silvermine, Table mountain the best hiking ever!
Great hike, beautiful views
Amazing place to visit
A great walk on a beautiful trail with spectacular views of Houtbay and the South Peninsular from the top of Chapmans Peak. Take water in summer as there is little or none if it has not recently rained.
Quite a steep start, but then its a gradual and steady climb to the top. One of my favourite hikes. The views at the top are with the effort.
Beautiful landscapes, beautiful ocean views, its worth everything to witness and experience the serenity of the this place
It has an amazing view. Its a must sre. If you are tourist in S.A., dont forget to visit this place.
Best trail for a 3 hour hike with the best views of Hout Bay and Noordhoek
Ive done this hike over 30 times. It has so many hidden gems. I could discuss this Hike for ever !
Lovely short hike, 1 hour up, 1 hour down, with magnificent views, possibly the best on the whole peninsula!!
Great views and a nice place to head to for a family and/or relaxing drive.

Totally Awesome, Great Adventure !
The best hike and view for the effort in Cape Town.
Needs a little TLC. Beautiful though and seems quite safe.
Fantastic hike. Also, you can get a free day pass at the toll gate on the way there so that you dont have to pay for the toll road leading there.
Not an easy trail. Fitness required. Views are worth the effort
Best way to get up to Chapmans Peak. Superb views, decent 4G.
