Have not been there for a while, I have missed many of the staff Ive known for many years, I understand that most them have retired. I do feel that top management are not particularly , customer friendly. They might have a good reason for doing so, but they also should not be of the opinion that every customer is impartial to cordial customer treatment. Ive been in business for about 60 years, thus am able to judge the different of customers with Ill intend and those with good intend and cordial treatmentt is always a requirement!

Baltic timber offers a huge variety of good quality products. However the encounter I had with the girl at the cash desk today was just horrible and totally unnecessary. The girl at the cash desk put up a little tantrum because I decided to pay with card instead of cash? I know right, how silly? Her stationary went flying, she screamed at the sales assistant saying “your customer can’t make up his mind”, through the receipt at me and then rolled her eyes. Never have I ever experienced anything like it. It’s such a pity because the rest of the team is amazing; they’re friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

They have a good selection but the business is run by dinosaurs I think. It takes 5 hours to get a single chipboard screw. Items have to be stamped and signed off every 3 meters. Most of the rainforest has been cut away to supply their A0 size die printed invoices. The staff are nice but seem to be silently screaming out for someone to save them from the prehistoric wormhole they are trapped in.

Feel ripped off. Expected to pay reasonable prices for my timber. Could have done far better at competitors that were far more easy to reach. The whole process of placing an order and collecting feels clumsy and outdated.

You can select your own pieces of wood and have it cut at no cost to fit into your vehicle (car). Good prices (for pine cover strips).Greater care should be taken by Baltic Timber to control the entrance road to their business; two vehicles used it as an exit, when I entered the premises.

Very old school in its approach. Makes buying, seeing the stock, making orders a difficult process. Everything has an extra charge and need to buy full sheets, with all of that the prices are reasonable.

Old school but very helpful. Will cut your timber for you but you have to wait up to 48 hours. Best to do your own cutting plan as they are not computerised.

Extremely unhelpful sales team. Asked for delivery to Paarl for a small order. Refused bluntly to give me the price of the delivery and didnt bother to give me the cost and availability of an order of glazing beading.

Ive been buying timber and hardware here for years, theyre probably rhe last true lumber yard in Cape Town and one whos staff actually know theyre selling and give sound advice and help. The hardware store isnt to be forgotten, their range and prices are some of the best and the staff there too are knowledgeable, friendly and professional.Perhaps the one of the big things, the staff stay for a long time, so seeing the same person who served you previously and having a chat while buying stuff, always a good thing. I only buy lumber and hardware there if I can help it

I have been buying timber from Baltic Timber for 30 years. Always have the best timber prices.

I ordered decking and they sent the wettest, grottiest wood. Not the dry stuff they keep in the warehouse. This had been stored outside for a long time. It was soggy. Im not happy. The staff outside are friendly though. They also told me that they dont cut wood to size, so Im not sure why other reviewers were told differently.

I am so over this store and it has no place in the new South Africa, let alone our vibrant and transforming Woodstock. Apart from the shockingly slow and poor service of the half-asleep gentlemen sitting munching on their cookies and reading their newspapers, I was revolted by the extent of the racism oozing out of this place. The man in the Plumbing department did actually just point to the front page of his newspaper which had a picture of a group of black people on it and say something to the effect of What are these ***** doing now!? And to say it openly in front of me just because I am a white man! Disgusting old man doesnt deserve the job he has, and in my mind none of the staff do. Its time for old businesses like these to roll over and die. That was the last straw for me, Id sooner shop at Builders than put myself through another depressing trip back in time to apartheid days.

Arrived at Baltic Timbers 40 minuets before closing time and the store was completely closed.This was extremely annoying and the cherry on top of this terrible experience is the fact that I have to sit in traffic on my way home with no goods. What a waste of time and petrol.
