If you want to stay in a home away from home where community lives and a spirit of kindness then look no further.I stated in the double bed room nice and spacious with basin and bathroom and shower was communal. The place has aged considering I stayed here in 2016 yet it still clean and managed well and its rooms dont exactly look like the picture yet all smooth. The bathrooms were excellent thats always a first priority.Naz was my shining star always ready to help and of service especially on weekends when there is no reception. All the staff were kind friendly and helpful, place was kept clean.I was gonna give this place a 5 star yet I found it interesting that one morning I had misplaced my bank card. I wanted a R50 breakfast and told the gentleman who makes breakfast that I would pay when I comeback from the ATM, he didnt even have other options and asked if I was staying an extra night (which I wasnt at that moment (ended up staying an extra night) hes case was because of so many other guests he needs immediate payment because he has huge bills of unpaid breakfasts. I found this disappointing and understandable.Otherwise wise choice situated within walking distance of everything.Made new family and friendsAlways a great choice.

A local bnb.The room is small but comfy.I found the bed too small for me to fit on and im only 1.85m.The lights did not extinguish completely so i slept in light most of the night. The roof is zinc and rats were running across it a few times during the night. The bathroom is ridiculously small and cramped. No plugs are available next to the bed for charging. This will only be a one night one time place.

Fantastic location, within walking distance of Long Street and with the red tour buses passing at the bottom of the road, you can get to most places in Cape Town easily. The excellent staff are extremely helpful - able to help with directions, advice and onward bookings. Great atmosphere and food in the bar too. Have stayed 3 times with large groups and they managed them very well. Will be back. And good value!

Stayed in the guest house. Room is nice with big en-suite bathroom and nice big shower. Breakfast was included in our package at the lodge but wasn’t always the nicest breakfast experience.. always something missing, the eggs, the glasses for the juice, the cutlery, or the tables were full of dishes not cleared yet. And we were unfortunate with our neighboring guests in the guest house. They were always loud and woke us with their shouting in aisle around 5am (not new years).

Ok.Very pricey!Good to have security boxes in the room but power plug were barely working in the room and some case under bed were not accessible due to furniture in the room.Very noisy, our room was on 1st floor just under the restaurant... And even if is was supposed to close at 10pm we were able to hear a lot of screams and jumps since really late and same furniture moving in early morning.Pool is cool and convinient but could be crowded at some time of the day.

A nice place to stay in Cape Town! Located at the heart of Gardens, this hostel is just a short walk away from Long Street with its numerous cafes, bars and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I stayed here with a group in February 2015 and we had a good time at this hostel. The food served at the bar is fairly priced and quite good. As this hostel is frequented by a lot of young people, it can get loud on the weekends. The sanitary facilities and the kitchen area were clean. The rooms are a bit small and can get crowded, but then again, this is a hostel. Also has a toilet with a fantastic with of Table Mountain - they call it the loo with a view ;)Overall, a nice place to stay if you are traveling on a budget.

Friendly staff but Id definitely not stay a night here again. For the price not even a TV in my room, noisy till midnight. Not the place to get an early night sleep if u needa be up early next day. Also outside parking was sketchy. Narrow street to park in and you get told not to leave anything in your car or itll get stolen.

Friendly, accomodating, and knowledgeable staff. Facilities are clean and the property is well secured. Can be noisy at night but did not bother me much. Situated at top of Long Street and takes about 30 minutes to Waterkant area, to the waterfront about 45 minutes on foot. Uber is cheap so wont dig into finances. I would definitely return in a heart beat.

Review №59

From the outside this place looks great & mostly it is with swimming pool and gardens but on inside it gets a little more complicated. My experience of this place was good in general but there are a few key things that i require as a full time traveller. 1. good internet i have to say that although useable to was extremely slow at times making it difficult to get any work done. 2. Good cooking facilities, now they do have a few fridges and a kitchen but the kitchen is totally inadequate for purpose as mostly it was big groups staying here and trying to use the stove was a waiting game sometimes more than one hour as the groups used all the available space on the hob as well as the staff cooking every night. I would recommend that the staff use the professional kitchen in the cafe upstairs as most travellers whom i spoke with complained about not being able to cook due to the staff & groups. they defiantly need a second hob here. The bathrooms are new and extremely clean but others parts of the hostel need a refresh as they are quite old.One of the main issues we had was the fact a drunk guys made one of our night hells as he woke up up over 10 times from 11pm to finally the security coming at 4am to remove him. This guy was totally wasted and bleeding heavily from the head he should not have been allowed in the room in the first place we had to get the security to come and get him out but after that he still came back to the room 20mins later. All in all it was a good stay but if you need good wifi & cooking space i would look into staying in another place.i do have to say the views of table mountain are great..

Ashanti was a great stay! I stayed in 2 hostels in cape Town and Ashanti trumped it for me. The hostel staff was friendly (I did have a little hick up at the end regarding a deposit for the bed tag saying there was no mention of it on my stay but he eventually gave it to me. I mean how would I know about the deposit if I didnt pay for it) and very knowledgable of activities to do around the town. My roommates were top notch and was around from all over the world! (one of the major reasons why I stay in hostels!) it was just a great time talking with everyone from around the world! It also has a nice restaurant very nearby (not the one on premises but right down the street). Now the one issue I did have was the internet. I was in another hostel in cape town so I know what slow internet is in cape town. However, the wifi at Ashanti was not usable 90% of the time for me. I hope they upgrade their internet to the higher one. Overall, I would stay here again!

Rented a private room, that wasnt very private. Was right outside the pool and bar area. Lots of noise most of the night and cleaning staff making an obnoxious amount of noise as early as 7am banging bins around. You had to walk outside and around the pool to get to the bathroom which was quite annoying if you needed to go in the middle of the night. Staff was kind of strange as well.
