Friendly and professional service. The passport process took no longer than 10 minutes. Offices are modern and beautifully done.

Arrogance and Ignorance is common at this embassy. No effort is made in helping clients, may it be German Citizens or other. Information is only partly given on certain application procedures which results in making additional appointments which can drag over months. With a cocky and I-know-it-all behavior they try to intimidate any applicant. As a German, I felt that they actually didnt want to help You at all.

Overall, poor service. Telephone on answering machine despite opening hours (You are calling outside of opening hours). The lady on the phone (if it is picked up) has the instructive tone of a boarding school teacher. There is no information on postal voting for Germans in SA. The elephant cannot be used for this, it is only there for crisis information. That is not true, but it is still loosely claimed. The new consular introduced herself only days beforehand. Is there a crisis? The elephant is the electronic registration of Germans abroad. Not an exclusive crisis tool. There is probably more to be done for the new Consul General than to introduce gender-sensitive spelling. Maybe a training for employees about their own products and the tasks of the German diplomatic missions.

Disaster bad! Usually such a boat chat should be a figurehead for a country. Quality and professionalism do not exist. Now the Visa office of the embassy has pulled the phone plug. Brief telephone inquiries are impossible. Hides behind flimsy blablabla. Since the worst of times is drudgery. There is also no answer to e-mails with queries. I also like to recommend the robot announcement with a snappy undertone at its best. In short, tax money is wasted 100 percent. For me this is not a representation.- edit 9.9.2021 -VISA office still not available by phone, short-term visas are only accepted through an agency. You ask yourself what is that supposed to be? We are talking about Cape Town and not Kabul.

We were stranded in South Africa during the corona crisis and wanted to find out what we should do on March 15, 2020. Whether and how we get back to Germany. Our excitement was not understood. Not even our data was registered. We were told everything was normal we shouldnt worry. Yesterday, some were not flown out of the hostel despite the ticket. Will try our luck again today. Hope we will be registered and my home country will help me and my mother to get back home. We have a ticket to Frankfurt

You can always call when you want. Disaster what they are doing here in such a time. In Germany, they would all be terminated after 15 minutes. Thats probably why theyre here.

During a visit to the consulate general on 2020/03/24, the issue of corona and its consequences did not initially seem to be very well organized - for example, all the necessary data for the German list could have been collected here.In the period that followed, the organization and information were significantly improved. We felt well informed by the countrymens letters, emails and interviews in the South African media. The actual return flight with which we were brought to Germany was carried out in an exemplary manner. Even if the circumstances of the long trip with our very young children did not (could not remain without stress) - we felt safe, well cared for and well looked after at all times.Thank you very much. We are very close to you & will keep your help in good memory.
