Very friendly staff. It is not expected but it is very refreshing to be greeted by your name after only being there a few days. Waterston could take a few lessons on friendly customer service. There they make you feel like they are doing you a favour by serving you.

Treadmills are useless, can set them to max speed and the still go no more than 12kph. Ive been complaining about this since 2020 and nothing changes.UPDATE: still no fix for the treadmills and the bathrooms need ventilation. Air at the toilets is stagnant and honeslty i dont event want to go wash my hands during a PANDEMIC its so noxious there.

Pretty clean. The reception staff were very welcoming. Private showers and ample space to do your workouts. Bring your own lock for the lockeroom.

I always enjoy working out here, just about all the equipment is new here. Particularly enjoy the treadmills here compared to other virgin branches who have older models.

Honestly feels like home when walking in.The staff are always energized, happy, and always hyping you up!!

Down to earth. What you need is th there, no frills. To bad there is no good Internet but all the other things are there.

Good gym in a nice location. But not enough space and it is regularly too full. Not enough equipment for the amount of people they allow. Great locker rooms.

I do a class every morning between 8 n 9am from step class,zumba,shape,spinning aqua,pound and kick boxing

Gym is always clean and tidy. Equipment is new and staff are friendly and helpful. Reconmend grid class and spin class with Neline Dippenaar.

Nice to have a good workout. Needs a place for a person to have a good cooling down stretch. Without getting a place to go streth.

Great gym but limited space

Its clean , covid compliant, the staff is really kind, the area itself is peaceful.

Would have Gotten 5 stars , but there is too few benches and only one flat bench and one incline bench how can this even be a thing it should atleast have two off each.

Last week I visited Virigin Active The Sanctuary to open a premium account for one month due to the fact that I do not live in SA and will only be here for one month and would be moving around a lot. After repeatedly being told that its expensive by staff members who kept asking me why I dont just take a membership to just that particular club, I kept saying I would stick with the premium option but was only charged R740 for the normal club membership to The Sanctuary.This was particularly inconvenient for me as I am a new mom and could not find the time to come back to the gym to sort it out. Eventually when I a managed to come back to the club, they said I have a premium membership but due to the small amount they charged me, Im now in arrears.What a horrible way to start off a short term membership. Yesterday I received a missed call from Virgin Active, tried to call them back today, tried five times every time the phone was hung up while I was waiting to speak to someone to sort this mess out. Eventually by the 5th time I called office hours were over.What terrible customer service. Would not recommend.

Super gym.....equipment top class!

There are lot of machines and they do proper orientation to make sure you understand everything that is going on to the gym and how to use the machines. Customer safety comes first.I also like their closing time since I normally come from work around 4pm and they are closing 9pm.

Nice layout. Uncrowded on a Friday after work. But no hangers in the lockers? Come on Virgin Active, you can do better than that.

Nice and staff are very helpfull. Easy and quite accessable.

More stars for better equipment. I expect all VAs to have wattbikes, especially in the biking capital of SA.

Great place to get fit. Staff are friendly. Small, with limited variety of equipment. No swimming pool.

1st visit since Covid. Had to remember to sanitize all the time. Clean and neat bathrooms.

Poor service, have to wait at the entrance in spite of having my excist card, staff was busy with a new client, did not even take my temperature, whereby I just walk passed them.

Never over-full and staff are incredibly helpful.

Love this branch of Virgin Active. it was opened a couple of years ago and the gym is a bright and pleasant place to work out. No pool but this branch makes up for it by its lovely appearance and spacious workout space. It is very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The spin classes are fantastic. The instructors are excellent and I enjoy being able to look outside while spinning. The spin rooms at the other 2 branches in Somerset West are cave-like. If you dont care about a pool, this club would be my choice compared to the other nearby Virgin Active clubs.

I joined this Virgin Active after looking around for a couple of gyms.My friend & I got helped by the friendliest, people oriented person Ive ever met! She filled out our info and got us signed up in no time and even made sure were not signed up for the wrong contracts and informed us of everything we need to know!I was really impressed and relieved by how easy she made joining a gym was!The place is clean, neat, modern, the bathrooms are amazing and smell fresh, the machines and equipment is in amazing conditions! There is a Sauna and all! I miss a pool though but thats okay compared to the rest of the features here I hardly notice the lack of a pool.I highly recommend it, it is cozy here, not too busy, people are friendly and it is so worth it!

Ive been trying to contact them since Monday and the phone just rang. I tried a couple of times. This is really upsetting!!!!!!

The location is very convenient if you stay in the area. The service has always been good. Facilities are in great condition. The only thing is just timing your sessions right or else youll find yourself in a very packed environment only being able to use a limited amount of equipment. But other than that its too notch.

Great value for money. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The floor and open classes can become slightly crowded over peak times, so its best to avoid those times if possible.

This is my preferred gym I visit regularly! I do yoga and pilatus classes here and enjoy it very much. There are a whole lot of other classes one can do here as well. It is also situated very conveniently in a shopping centre I love very much. Quite a few of favourite restaurants also situated here! 😎

I love my gym! Best to avoid peak hour if you love the treadmill. Although there are so many treadmills seems it is the one piece of equipment gyms cant ever have enough of... besides that The Sanctuary is great!

Bathrooms are large, the gym itself is not too busy, and it has a relaxed but focused atmosphere.

One of the better virgin active gyms , not a huge variety of equipment , but it has everything you need for the beginner to intermediate athlete.Staff at the reception desk was not as welcoming as other VA gyms i have been to.

This gym is clean and has modern equipment. During the off-peak times its a great gym to be at; however during peak times it a frustrating place due to it being so small. It is conveniently located with more than enough parking.

A little dissapointed in the personal trainers and floor staff...extreme attitudes and unfriendly demeanors. The admin staff and reception were welcoming and friendly though.

This is a relative new Virgin Active club. The facilities, bathrooms, showers and steam room is spotless. The equipment is new and in good order. The staff is awesome eager to help you.

I love this gym. People are friendly and the staff is always willing to help. Just missing a swimming pool but it wont stop me from going there. Very clean as well which is a bonus.

No floorspace to do own exercises. Feels really small, limited exercise machines. Very unhappy to being forced to go here after the Somerset branch is closing....i dont know how they are going to be able to handle all the additional clients.

Helpful friendly staff. Great classes. Affordable membership and kids love club v!! Only downside - no shower doors. Just open narrow cubicles

Medium sized gym situated in a shopping complex with ample convenient parking. The afternoon spinning class is always overflowing (they definitely need to schedule more spinning classes). The air conditioning system in the spinning classes also needs to be upgraded.

The best , I like the fact that after gym I can grab my quick healthy supper downstairs at woolies

Its a smaller club but neat and clean and newer equipment.

Joined the gym in Oct 2018 (spoiler alert, no free gift bag or water bottle), but the membership fee was surprisingly low compared to other gyms. Unfortunately this gym does not have a pool or sauna, but it does have a steam room. The people are friendly and you dont feel intimidated by other members in the gym. The rest of the gym is pretty much what you would expect from a Virgin active franchise, Kauai smoothies, personal trainers and a biokineticist. Now comes the hard part, I have to start going :)

Lovely gym, clean and well run. There is no pool at this particular one but there are 2 other Virgins close by that have pools. Great Kauai health shop inside for light meals

Definitely tidy and clean with a great variety of training options, friendly staff and top of the line equipment. The downside is that this is the single busiest gym Ive ever been to - took my girlfriend there at 8 PM the other day and we, as well as a few other members, just stood around. Not a single machine or training station was open.

One of the better gyms in the Helderberg. All things considered, one cant really complain about much. Good selection of cardio equipment, free weights area is always a little cramped for space, missing a couple of essential (in my opinion) machines like the hack squat and pec dec, no pool but thats reflected in the membership fee.I definitely wouldnt call it a hardcore gym for the fitness and bodybuilding crowd, if youre looking for that, try the Gants Virgin Active.Personally, Im not this Virgin Actives biggest fan but, I cant fault it for what it is. Its location is more convenient for me than Gants, and Waterstone is just too country club for my taste.4/5

Aircon always pumps👌 90mins free parking and a different variety of Matrix equipment. Never as busy as Waterstone or Gants Virgin Active and ideal if you dont need a pool or heavy dumbbells

The Virgin Active Gym is fantastic, its got exactly what you need and more, if you just want to run and do some weights then its great, however when it gets busy it really gets busy so bear that in mind.

The Sanctuary Virgin Active is very small but caters for a large amount of people. DONT DARE TO GO DURING RUSH HOURS. YOULL BE UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED.
