It was our first time at La Mouette, visited though The Fomo App, and have been recommended by friends a few times before. They did not disappoint! Beautiful setting, outside and inside, with a cozy fireplace. The staff are very well trained and informed. The Spring Special 5 Course Menu Tasting was impeccable, the wines perfectly paired and the atmosphere lovely. We will surely return, thank you for an incredible evening!

Beautiful restaurant in Sea Point set in an old house. The ambience is romantic and relaxing. The new winter special menu is absolutely amazing value for money. The staff is so attentive and service is very quick. I could not fault anything with the food - everything from the taste to the presentation was top notch! Fine dining at a fraction of the cost. I can’t wait to go back again.

Wow wow wow I have have so many great things to say about this incredible place , we enjoyed a 5 course tasting menu. It was out of this world !!! And the waitron and hostess was incredible , super friendly and just incredible at what they do , I had such a great chat with all of them and I can’t say thank you enough for your hard work and dedication. Amazing ambience. The restaurant is gorgeous and the staff are friendly and attentive. The setting is spacious with adequate physical distancing while enjoying the experience. The meals themselves were beautifully presented and delicious!

Winter menu was great, but I have a few considerations to make. Too many white wines with the pairing, perhaps you guys could explore a more warming set of drinks for winter season. Service was good, but timing between the plates was a bit off. On other hand, food was amazing and the artichoke risotto was one of the best risottos I had.

NOT WORTH 600!!!I wanted very much to like this and impress my friends. However this was a very budget tasting menu. Sub par ingredients and extremely small portions. Hates 3 of 5 dishes.Still hungry....Maccas 500m down the road is a recommended last course to round off this meal

Scrumptious food. Super friendly service and a lovely atmosphere for a late Sunday lunch. Thats usually when we eat and the service was still top notch. Food is well presented and gastronomical to my taste buds!!! Does not matter what you choose you will not be disappointed.I had to drop a star after tonights experience. Service was friendly but we hardly saw the waiter. My expensive glass of wine I ordered was corked and nobody came to ask how it was. A bit of a disappointment but I will go back again. Maybe just one of those nights...

Joined La Mouette for the three course tasting menu. We were very happy with the service and quality of food and were perfectly full after three courses. We were happy we didn’t opt for the five course as we are both small eaters. The service was fantastic, our primary server was particularly jovial and attentive. The outdoor patio is large, grand, and a wonderful setting to enjoy an outdoor meal in the middle of the city. Each course was wonderful, the squid, the orecchiette with broccoli and goat cheese, and the black current parfait were in particular extra delicious. They provide blankets in case it gets cold and windy outside which is a nice touch.

Perhaps the best value for money tasting menu in Cape Town. The food is always beautifully prepared and exquisitely presented. 6 courses if Bliss. Highly recommended.

An absolute gem in the heart of Sea Point. We had the 5 course winter special (R295) and each dish was absolutely divine! I would most certainly recommend it. Also couldnt decide between the fillet or the mushroom risotto but they were both well executed dishes so I wasnt disappointed when I tasted the other from a friends plate. Great job guys!

The most amazing birthday dinner in a wonderfully charming and elegant setting. Three course meal with a surprise, complimentary champagne and dessert at the end. The food was incredible and impeccably designed for taste and portion.

Excellent, delicious, on point food. Its pricey so probably best for a celebratory meal. Really great options though -- we did the spring 6-course menu with wine pairing and its without a doubt the best degustation experience in Cape Town (and world class food & wine!). My husband and I had different meals for some of the mains and it was just incredible to taste all the various options. Money well spent! Cant wait to try the summer menu. The service is also quite excellent and the online booking option is the best Ive ever used.

A miserable evening outside, but so warm and cozy inside, with a fire place right next to us setting the mood. Celebrated a friends birthday with the 5 course winter special and wow what a good choice. Very good service and very welcoming and friendly staff. It got progressively busier as the night progressed, but we did not wait any longer for our meals. We were a table of 10 as well. I am not always 1 for the specialized types of meals that are tiny and just look pretty, but the 5 courses we had were very interesting, tasty and I had eaten my fill by the end of the night. (Usually i have a 300g steak etc) Nice atmosphere, very good service and wonderful food. Definitely recommended.

Oh my goodness. Felt like I was tasting foods from a masterchef class. What an awesome experience. I remember ordering the line fish as my main which was Sea Bass. The rest I cant remember what it was called. Starter, had squid. And dessert was chocolate of cause. Will share my pics. That should help. Everything was deevine.

Its not a regular restaurant. Its a chef restaurant. The price is not cheap but this the best restaurant that I ever had. The taste of the food is something that I will never forget.

Food and service are amazing! Portions are big for fine dining. My husband won with his food choices (it is always a competition) he ordered the tuna starter and lamb main - fantastic choice! I had the duck salad starter, very very good and the beef fillet main, also very nice however the lamb won! Dessert we both had the ferreiro rocher mouth watering! We were a bit dissapointed with the atmosphere, it being our anniversary wanted something romantic and toned down and intimate. The restaurant was very noisy it being busy and very light not giving a romantic vibe at all. It was still a nice experience.

After seeing the Spring Menu advertised this week my sister-in-law and I decided on an early dinner after a day spent working together. We took a lovely walk along the promenade to reach the restaurant, which has its home in a beautiful old Seapoint house. As the weather had turned cold and misty we opted instead for the 3 course menu and a delicious bottle of Fable Mountain Night Sky red wine. Sitting close to the fireplace we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the excellent service from smiling waiters. I started with the Mushroom starter - a symphony of truffle, oyster mushrooms and hazelnut with pasta. Main course was Duck with a potato cake and jus and for dessert a deconstructed lemon meringue with lemon granita and a lovely tart curd. Mandy had the calamari starter, wonderfully soft with with a smoky flavour and chili oil. Her main of beef fillet was equally delicious. Well worth a visit for any occasion.

Can’t rate food honestly as a la carte tasting menus with tiny portions that you sniff up within seconds is not my thing. Service was excellent. The setting is beautiful, try to get a table outside in their courtyard, perfect for the warm night.The only complaint would be the hard plastic chairs, after three hours of wining and dining I couldn’t sit straight anymore. The chairs need cushions or to be replaced with soft ones all together to make the experience more pleasant.

Ive visited La Mouette recently with a group of friends for Sunday lunch.We thoroughly enjoyed not only the food but whole experience!The service and food are of a consistently high standard. We had a special 3-course set menu and some of the items I can highly recommend is the Truffles Mac & Cheese with grain mustard Brioche with Marmite butter and the Tempura shallots with roast baby onions - actually, I can recommend the entire menu!All fabulous! It is a great place to go and the atmosphere is amazing.

The food was uninspired. The beef was a bland mess of beige colours, nothing green. The desserts were nice, but other than the ostrich main, none of the mains were tasty. The fennel with the sea bass was very under cooked. For the price, I expected a lot more. Service was mediocre, waiters didnt show much interest or knowledge about the food they were serving. The wine list is good.

La Mouette remains one of my favourite restaurants. Really good experience overall.

Great taste with every course. The deserts are really the best in Cape Town! You have to pay a visit. Reservations are recommended.

Solid tasting menu dinner, good price for tourists in SA..

My fiance and I went there last night and it was a culinary experience of note!! The service was amazing, the staff was super friendly and helpful and the food. Oh. My. Goodness. It was AMAZING!

The food and wine pairing was very tastefully done, but the portions were very small. The ostrich main course were similar in size to a starter. Nice relaxed venue.

Dont want to be rude as we were guests. Staff very pleasant. Menu different if its to your taste. Found the lamb very salty. Wouldnt rush back. But under circumstances, good luck.

A tasting menu very well paired with excellent wines, in a lovely lit courtyard of a former mayors house. With a celebrity chef Neil Anthony. Ticks 5 boxes for me.Ps. I only give 5 star reviews because when I write about something, its special.

Went for the 5 course winter tasting menu. We got the vegan and regular options. Unfortunately both were not good at all. We left very unsatisfied:( I really wanted to like this restaurant but I’m sorry to say the food was mediocre at best. With the high prices, you’d expect good food.

Had a lovely night experiencing fine dining. Dishes looked too pretty to eat,but down the hatch it went and what a blast for the senses. Staff were super in every way.

We havent been impressed by the quality of the meat/fish and the amount of salt they put in our dishes. Sadly, we expected better meal. We had better food on the other side of the street. This wasnt that bad, just not we expected for this level of cuisine.

A gem I in Sea Point! Fine dining with superb food. The 3 of us chose the 3 course wine paired menu and tasted each others dishes - each was delicious and the service was excellent! One friend asked for a pair of chopsticks to eat his Tuna Starter and they went out to get a pair for him, and quickly! Service above & beyond! Housed in a beautiful building, the only mild criticism is that the decor doesnt match up to the superb food, wines, architecture and service.

La Mouette is a tranquil gem in the main road of Sea Point. With a set menu, in- or excluding wine pairing, it is not cheap, but it is SO worth it.The food is amazingly good, the wine some of the best SA has to offer.The ambiance is gorgeous and service superb.An absolute must visit.

The chef tailored a 3-course vegan menu for us that was made up of a range of delectable, innovative dishes. Service was phenomenal and the wine pairing is excellently selected. Would absolutely go again.

This is a great venue with excellent service and lovely food.If you want to have any of the set course menus then the entire group must get it. This is not a hard decision to get consensus on as everyone wants to taste everything. We landed on the winter special with some opting for the wine pairing. Both were great value for money.

In my top 3 best restaurants in South Africa eithout a doubt, and closer to 1st. Absolutely incredible food and fine dining experience in a more casual and homey setting that is relaxing. black tie not compulsory. Very very special place.

Great food

The set menu was delicious, very nicely set up according to the flavors, we were very satisfied with our meals and drinks. Very fine dinning here! Its just a little bit of shame, the place doesnt really have a nice vibe. It is an old building and its so dark and quiet inside, some nice themed music would do such a big difference. We felt a bit uncomfortable for that reason. Otherwise everything was really nice!

We visited the restaurant for a special occasion, willing to spend a little more for good food. This restaurant did not disappoint!We loved the restaurants ambience. The food we had was well prepared and presented and tasted exquisite! Our waiter was friendly, professional and attentive to our needs.All in all a great experience and we hope to return soon.

Been years since I went and it used to be great. Its definitely lost its lustre. Not worth the money any more sadly. Most dishes average, some over-salted, mismatched flavour combinations and so on. Service was inattentive and insincere - no real attention to whether the food was good or up to standard. Used to have a wonderful family feel, full of personal attention, now just impersonal and factory-like. Its obvious the chef has stepped away from the business or has at the very least lost his passion for the restaurant.

World class dinning at its finest.

We were give 2 set menu options. Each course had fantastic small food taste experiences. There was also a Wine paring option for each menu option. I found the food expensive for what you got. I also found the time between courses really long and the chef sent a very polite but firm response indicating there were 6 tables in front of us. A good experience, could be improved.

Still hands down, after many years, my favorite restaurant in Cape Town!

Fine dining at a reasonable price. Food is expertly prepared, presented and full of flavors. The cheese and truffle croquettes are to die for.

Pretentious and overpriced. The foods not bad, but the Hussar Grill does a better pork belly and doesnt charge eye watering prices for the wine pairings. A restaurant for people who like to think theyre foodies.
