I have been a customer of this shop for years and they have reliably completed my jewellery repairs. They say that customer service is put to the test when things go wrong and the customer is retained based on how the establishment responds to the situation. Today they lost a long standing customer because of how they treated me. I took in a pendant with a hinge for repair. I discussed the repair with the front of house assistant who noted that it was not made of silver and I clarified that I only wanted the hinge fixed - nothing else. When it was returned to me it had been polished and because it is not silver, this left yellow patches all over the surface - it is totally ruined. The jeweller was called and he went on the offensive - talking, talking, talking and effectively telling me that it was my fault for bringing in an item of costume jewellery. No apology, no acknowledgement that it was his mistake (it was taken in as an item of costume jewellery) and no attempt whtasoever to make amends other than pointing to the disclaimer at the bottom of the slip and absolving himself for this mistake. Never again and I will make sure everyone I know understands how little this establishment values its customers. They earned 2 stars rather than 1 because they managed to serve me ok for a number of years.
