At the scene of a vehicle accident, at 6am in the morning, the on-scene tow truck driver (Hilton) deliberately misinformed me of the expected cost for towing (he said that it wouldnt be much, as they were literally around the corner), as well as other potential costs involved. Once they had my vehicle towed to their premises, we were informed by Karl, that the standard accident towing fee is R5 500, for less than 2 km tow. Hilton was suddenly no where to be found, despite my requesting to speak with him to clarify this sudden confusion.I feel that they are dishonest, and deliberately misrepresented costs - as if this was a standard accident fee, surely I should have been informed when I asked Hilton? I feel conned. Luckily, I am able to retrieve the cost of the tow from the party at fault, but overall, avoid this Strand based towing service. In addition to the above, they are also exceptionally rude. When we collected the vehicle to take it for repairs, they were so upset that we had called the AA to tow the vehicle (as opposed to using them again I suppose), they made my husband drive the vehicle (badly damaged wheel) out of their yard to wait in the street. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
