Great coffee, lovely atmosphere and good food. Popular work destination and nice specials on certain days. Music is top notch and there is a TV for the big games. Seating outside and comfy couch on the inside of you are lucky! Normally just the right kind of busy!

Very accommodating management and staff. We sat here for a whole afternoon and they served us with continuous smiles and grace. The food portions are generous and affordable. The drinks prices are on par with the more upscale drinking holes in the area. Fantastic decor - rustic and quirky like the rest of Observatory. Really nice vibe!

Slow, poor and unattentive service. Food is mediocre. None of the wines per glass as per menu are available. The place looks cool from the outside and the interior has a great vibe.

I spotted this place coming from the Observatory train station and I thought I should try it. Have to say that it did not disappoint! The place was cosy with a casual feel to it. I enjoyed the service and especially their burger and potato wedges🥰 the alcohol selection is intriguing as it houses local beers and wines. Also enjoyed that it overlooked the park. I will be returning for more!

Coffee was great, food was good. They were understaffed so things took longer to get to you and tables took longer to be cleared. Overall a really chilled place.

I bought a R65 chicken & mayo sandwich which took over 30 minutes to make and this is what I got: 2 super tiny slices of ciabatta bread with barely any filling of chicken & mayo. I had asked the server if the sandwich was filling and he told me it was. I feel cheated! Also server was barely paying any attention, crumpled my receipt and ner gave me a copy. The sandwich tasted okay but the bread could be fresher. Not going back!

Well firstly the coffees great. I think more people need to be aware of the fact that the staff never fail to smile and their energy is always good. I go there for good vibes while I work. Also I used to work with cars and the decor sparks an amazing source of nostalgia ♡

This is a fantastic place if you like strong coffee and rich craft beers. The service is good, with a personal touch to how waiters and bartenders approach customers. However, the food is mediocre and for the unititiated coffee drinker; its horribly bitter.

Since Rust has opened its been one of my favourite spots in the city. Things I love: The music volume is always appropriate to the time of day. Good work, chaps. The staff is friendly and Ive only ever had good service here. The food is pretty damn good also, with an excellent house burger. Next, the selection of beer and drinks. There are old favourites, and something new to try. Basically its my best local and you should totally come here.

An interesting small restaurant in an old house down a side street in Observatory. I was taken there by a knowledgeable local and I had beer soup for the first time. Great food. A great place to try.

New kid on the Observatory block and so far so good! We popped in for a Friday after work drink and enjoyed the friendly service and selection of beer on tap. Apparently their hot kitchen was supposed to open last week so I will be back to check that out for sure. Lovely afternoon light and cosy vibe. Saw there was an outside section, didnt check it out but assume it is for smokers.

Went to Rust for breakfast. Ordered the Eggs Benedict. When it arrived, the Hollandaise sauce was broken. Im not sure if its a consolation, but the wait staff did apologize and brought my replacement order quite promptly. There are just so many other spots in Observatory for breakfast, I may not be back. Sorry.

Worst service I’ve ever received. 2 eggs and bacon with (canned) mushrooms took an hour to get to us and was freezing when it arrived. Waiter only came to ask for drinks once when we arrived and never again. Attitude to us was also a joke. Family was visiting and we were extremely disappointed. I would give a 0 star if I could. Saturday morning 15 september
