Recently had the privilege of actually sitting down and having some breakfast instead of grabbing one of their delicious bagels on the go. Oh man, was I impressed?! Not only do they serve the best coffee in all of Cape Town, they even provide food of the same standard - without breaking the bank!

Such great coffee and the food is fantastic too. You can pop upstairs and see the coffee roasting process. These dishes were the Asian chicken and the steak roll, fantastic food. The roll is baked in-house and is really delicious.

Beautiful place for coffee lovers. Huge space with good seating areas. Inside, but also outside. In a busy area, but secluded enough to enjoy your coffee fix in peace. In my case, I got a very solid latte. Could have been a bit more creamy, but cant complain.

This place has AMAZING food. Best shakshuka Ive ever had and their bagel Benny is sooo good. Coffee is wonderful as well - love a cappuccino with the local handcrafted oat milk. The staff is wonderful too. Sometimes the service is slow but I couldnt bare to give it less than 5 stars. Have been here multiple times now.

Good place to enjoy an early brunch. We were delighted by how much choice there is here for coffee and tea. Dont hesitate and ask the staff for advice, we both liked a lot the ones we got.We ordered the omelette, the sweet potato rosti and a peanut butter cookie. They were all good but not extraordinary. Conclusion: a very nice place to chill in the morning, the staff is very friendly and the drinks are definitely worth it.

A great experience for breakfast/brunch! Had some sweet potato rösti, someSourdough bread with butter (in cute small wrappers) and marmalade. Then make the experience complete with some freshly roasted coffee brewed with the perfect method. The service here is great and if you are a coffee lover then this is the place to go. Even if you are not into coffee then this is still a great place for food! Will definitely return if I return to Cape Town.

Given all of the hype about Origin I had very high expectations and maybe that was the problem. I like coffee but I dont love it. I had a pour over and it was served in a cool manner but it did not wow me. I also ordered a burger. It looked great but the bread was dry and the meat, while juicy, lacked taste. It was only okay. And it was expensive....

This spot is really special has such a great feel to it. Theyve done all the little things well that other cafes forget to do. The look and feel the quality in every cup of coffee the pastries are exquisite, the background music the staff the plants all are brilliant. Its worth going over and over again. Just want to warn you when it gets full it gets really hot in there don’t think they have air-conditioning. The service is very slow and unorganized. Been their a lot of times and the toilets get dirty seems like no one checks up on it.

So I dont drink coffee and dont understand how anyone can drink something that tastes like burnt. But my girlfriend loves the stuff, so I was delighted to see a page of different teas that was almost as long as for the coffee. The Croque Monsieur was pretty good too.Ive knocked a point off as I felt that serving hot drinks in glasses without handles is style over functionality.

Brilliant coffee in a trendy setting, great selection of cakes, sandwiches and food to order. We had the vegan mushroom sandwich which was delicious.Best is the selection of beans and brewing methods, so many combinations to try and all so reasonably priced (all coffees less than £2 - R33 to be exact - which is about half what you’d pay in the UK for Chemex or V60 pourover)!Came back twice on our visit to Cape Town because it was so great!

Food and coffee is excellent - definitely a superb place to visit. But there’s no denying that Origin is always chronically understaffed and disorganised. Few waiters and baristas seem all over the place and you can wait quite a while before they even recognise you’re at the door. Food is very slow but tasty. Waitering staff also seems to need a bit of training - often they ask you to reiterate your order or forget an item. Management needs to work on this place because it’s a gem

One of the best coffee roasters in Cape Town. I had a flat white, it was excellent. The place is known for its award winning baristas. I also ordered their grilled cheese sandwich (R50.00) and it was absolutely delicious. The joint is in a beautifully restored building oozing what I suppose is Victorian industrialism. It is a bit warm inside; nevertheless, there is outside seating. Definitely the best place to stop for coffee in De Waterkant/ Greenpoint. A must if you are serious about your coffee. Funky 70s and 80s background groove music.

2nd very poor experience in 2 months, at what used to be a good coffee shop. Service very slow and unorganized. Waiters served beer with a best before 3 years ago. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, 5 table in total. We ordered drinks and then food.Drinks (2 x fresh pressed juice and 2 x flat whites) took 15mins.Food took just over 30mins to come out and when it arrived they got the order wrong. By this time we were to hungry to wait for it to be rectified.
