This was literally the worst meal and experience Ive had in a very long time. The waiter Michael was not clued up about anything. We requested a cocktail and instead of advising us what they didnt have, which was almost the entire cocktail menu, he walked up and down to come back and advise that they didnt have this or that. The food took very long to arrive, most probably because of the sushi buffet special and when it did, anything tempura or spring roll, was cold. I got the combo 5, which is a variety of salmon. Never have I ever eaten sushi rice so sour. It was like the chef forgot to measure the vinegar. I literally had three pieces to be sure that I wasnt imagining this. The manager came to apologize and tried to make right but how do you make that right? I usually write about good experiences and give credit where its due but this experience was really not a great one. I went to read some of their reviews now only and see that Im not the only person that feels this way. Suggestions: do menu tastings with management and train the staff better.

We went for sushi at Asamis in Tygervalley on 25 July 2021 and attended the evening 18H00 - 20H00 buffet session. We were served by Cole Jensen. When we placed our order for drinks one of our friends ordered water, and because he didnt hear that Cole was organising a jug, he received a few sarcastic remarks from Cole. Cole sarcastically asked my friend Are you also deaf in the left ear? and this was a total put off from the start. At dessert time almost everything was out of stock, and Cole joked so much about everything, it really didnt feel like he took any of our questions seriously. Also, we had to repeatedly ask for napkins. Also, the kitchen closes at 19H30. It is recommended that you inform a customer about this when the buffet session start because we had to ask Cole about this as well. The food was great though and we could at least secure our bookings via their new WhatsApp system, which was positive part of the evening.Sorry Asamis, but this was not the way to end our day.

Absolutely fantastic service! Had troubles with uber eats and ended up not getting my meal, so went to the restaurant directly and they were willing to open up the kitchen after it had closed to make me my sushi. They turned a difficult night into a laughable memory, and the sushi was delicious too. Thank you Asamis!

Enjoyed our evening at Asamis, with the all you can eat sushi. Some specially made Crab stick California Rolls, for our son. Staff, especially our waiter (apologies for not getting his name, dreadlocked guy) was hands-on and helpful throughout. Our daughter also loved her dish, she is actually the Asian food expert. Thank you. Great good and service. We were so filled with deliciousness.

Im utterly disgusted! This was my second time at Asamis with my boyfriend. The first time I ordered a Starberry daiquiri and all I tasted was alcohol with big chucks of ice which I brought to the waitresses attentionToday I ordered the Veg Udon Noodles and as I swallowed my food I chocked on something and found it to be a piece of metal rod of sort...my throat was cut inside, the manager gave us free food, they would not allow me to take a picture of the metal rod and they offered me waterI would give this restaurant 0stars if I could and if you are going to eat here, please do it cautiously!

The food never disappoints. But the past few experiences have been a bit weird. The hostess does not make you feel very welcome. We were still talking to her about where we can be seated and she started speaking to another customer. When we found a spot, she just replied but theres no chairs I had to grab the 2 empty chairs myself and put them in the spot by the belt. She seems very uninterested. Its the 3rd time shes been so annoyed/disconnected. I really dont think she should be your front of house. The food is amazing. I do feel you may be a bit understaffed too, an extra waiter wont hurt and help speed things up a bit. If the hostess had the same attitude as the manager and the waiters got to us a bit quicker. Deffs a 5 star

I bought online vouchers for the sushi buffet for my daughters birthday as she loves sushi. We used to love eating here and i thought this would be a great birthday treat. We sat at the belt as there you can easily pick what you want. Sadly there was more fresh fruit like oranges and grapes, meat like fried chicken and calamari, spring rolls and prawn chips than sushi. So we decided to order sushi from the waitress, but waited so long and when it eventually came it was warm, probably due to standing in the kitchen for a long time. We used to get the best fresh sushi from Asamis, but think we will skip it in future.

Such a lot of promise, but such a let down. The service and service staff really lets this place down. Servers are shouting at and arguing with each other. We sat at the sushi bar and could see our drinks standing at the bar while our server was having a conversation. He only remembered us when he eventually walked by us and shouted to his colleague to bring our drinks. Apparently couldnt be bothered to get them himself. We waited a very long time to get sushi we ordered and then only received half of it. About 15 minutes later we received the rest.At no point we were offered secondary drinks or a check up to see if we were enjoying our meal. We were at the restaurant for more than 2 hours and didnt see a manager. The variety of sushi on offer is good and I really enjoyed it but the service really is the achilles heel.

My daughter took me for lunch to Asamis. We ate sushi choosing our plates off the carousel. Indifferent experience in all. Unfortunately I cant recommend anyone to experience what I have. Host or hostess was non existent upon arrival. The waiter knowledge not only about the menu, but also the food ect. is questionable as this comes down to management staff training. The sushi was ok and so was the spring rolls. The food takes forever to arrive. I understand we in a social distancing period but the waitress took it abit too far in distancing at times, as we had to send out search parties throughout our sitting. I asked for 5 dumplings pan fried as a takeaway and received 5 steam no soy sauce nothing. Definitely need to review or follow up on your reviews to see where your standards are lacking. This was by far my worst casual dining experience. And like I told the manager the Stellenbosch branch is in a different class.

The menus were sticky and dirty. I ordered a milkshake which was on the menu and then the waiter responded by telling me they dont have milkshakes. I then ordered another drink on the menu which they also didnt have. The Tempura prawns were disgusting. Dried out and not appetizing. Some of the food took an hour to serve and my husbands sushi platter came in stages (some of the pieces of sushi came at different times). One of the pieces of my daughters chicken fell onto his tray and was delivered to our table 10 minutes later. Took forever to get our bill. Its seemed like our waiter was on drugso

We normally visit the Cobble Walk store, but decided to give this one a try. The sushi buffet is always a winner. This Asamis is much bigger and the sushi belt seems to never stop. Great place to eat sushi. I really enjoyed myself. Waiters are friendly and always available. If one opts for the buffet, Id recommend sitting at the impressive conveyor to easily pick your favourite dishes or try some new items that run by you.Table seating is your other option. It is comfortable and better for conversation when your party is more than 3 persons... but you must know what you want to order or walk to the conveyor and collect your dish, which can result in a wait for your dish to trundle past you. They have various weekday specials as well.

The best go-to sushi in all of the Northern Suburbs, in my humble opinion. Also, some very good Chinese and Kantonese dishes. Prices are very competitive for the quality (especially the combo sushi platters). The very hands-on manager takes care of service hiccups quickly and efficiently. Try to get seating near the centre, as the sprawling, pack-up-and-go layout, unfortunately lends itself to an experience that feels somewhat (literally and figuratively) over-extended at the edges.
