Well organized store. I am amazed by the variety of products and livestock that they mange to fit into their shop, without it feeling overcrowded and without creating the feeling of being clostraphobic. Everything has its own section and all products are easy to find if you know what you are looking for. It is a great environment and a store that makes a visit feel more like an outing than just shopping. Every single staff member is well educated and extremely helpful, which adds to the experience and is hard to find nowadays. I personally always prefer to shop online for multiple reasons, but this shop is an exception for me. I truly wish all shops were like this one. This is why I rate it 5 stars and why I feel Sams Aquarium will be open for many years to come. Do yourself a favor and at least visit to take a look at all the fish and ask some questions.

Sams Aquarium is the best stocked store Ive been to in CPT. His staff are also well educated and helpful. I have purchased all my fish from him and theyre happy and healthy. My favourite part about the store is the huge range of live plants. Alot of international brands are available as well and at great prices. I keep going back here because of such great service!

The reason for this rating is simple; keeping fish namely Bettas in a container the size of a small glass is cruelty.It has been proven keeping fish in this manner results in a compromised immune system.I cannot overlook this treatment of a living creature when the science does not support it.I will not be patronising this establishment again. Which is a pity as they have a lot of potential.

Our family loves Sams Aquarium. We have been going to them since about 2011 consistently, even though we dont live in the area. It is the cleanest fish shop with the best quality fish and most knowledgeable staff. We dont buy our aquarium products anywhere else.

Always worth traveling all the way there, for my aquarium requirements. I go there because I know everything is under one roof. My needs are quite small in comparison with others perhaps, but I dont feel small at all, Im just like every other client. I do however still miss the old Sams way of surprising you at the till🤔 Memories huh 😉

Complete fish keeping solution under one roof. Good quality stock but some can be a bit pricey. Be careful or they will sell you the whole shop. Go in with a plan and be specific on what you require... the owners know their products. Always a variety from freshwater fish to Salt water varieties. All that you need equipment related. Enjoy

I am very sad. I use to be a local shopper here, now i am definitely not. I bought some plants from them and the next day (only adding the plants from them to 2 different separate tanks) all my fish that were previously happy in the tank for months were dead.As you can my history on google reviews or lack there of, i never review things, however this terrible experience that I have had lead me to warn others so this does not happen to them.I really loved sams, but i have lost a great amount of respect for them owing to what had happened .Two of the many fish I lost were beta fish. This has made me want to raise the concerns i have about the betas that are being sold there being kept in such small containers, as any beta fish owner would know they are highly intelligent and prone to depression. Therefore i strongly suggest they rethink their beta housing.

Amazing fish shop as a whole. Has amazing staff, an incredible boss and one of the widest selections of fish and fish know lage in the cape. If you ever want to start or continue to have fish as your hobby then you need to try this place at least once.

Couldnt ask for a better service and personal customer relation in Sams aquarium. The owner has a passion for his store and pleasing customers in finding the right fish or equipment you need. Most pet stores dont offer as wide variety of fish as Sams Aquarium, they keep only fish or other under water creatures or plants.

Sams aquarium has very helpful and knowledgeable staff. They are certainly one of the best options to go to for advice on you fish out aquarium. I was able to bring my goldfish to them, because it had a nasty lump developing pin its side. They were able to diagnose the problem do tests on the water and provide me with not only the treatment it would require, but also all the supplements and knowledge to improve the water quality and keep it up.

My local haunt of +-7 years. Small shop but huge variety of tropical and coldwater fish, equipment, lighting, chemicals, medications, plants, ornaments, tanks and anything else you need for the hobby. Very friendly staff. I spend far too much time here browsing through the products and chatting to Ebrahim and Rumer who you can usually find there running the counter and offering invaluable advice and chit-chat. I tend to shop around for the best prices but particularly for chemicals (Seachem, Easylife, Microbe-lift etc), medications and fish you wont find better prices elsewhere in the area. My only critism is the betta care where you will find them in tiny cruel containers. I am completely against this practice however due to space, proper betta baracks are not an option at this point in time. Rumer does her best at looking after them with frequent water changes and a watchful eye and recently I have found that some of them have moved into breeding boxes in the main fish tanks to utilise the filtered heated water. I do hope this becomes the norm and I hope to see more of them like this in the future. Dont forget to say hi to Max the Macaw mascot who you will find destroying his perch while simultaenously trying to climb on anyone who walks past. Sams Aquarium recently built me a custom 1500 x 500 x 500mm tank and it is absolutely stunning. After 7 years I still visit here almost every week, that tells you all you need to know...

Great selection of aquarium supplies ranging from tanks, to filtration etc. Average variety of fish and live plants. But, unfortunately not much aquascaping supplies.Live stock pricing is a bit higher than what Im used to. However the service is great and the employees are knowledgeable which is appreciated.

Have been a loyal customer visiting most weekends and spending a fair amount on fish, frozen foods, equipment and accessories. However I recently lost some very expensive fish which had pre-existing disease and the store is not willing to acknowledge that. Hence we are now shopping elsewhere

Ive been coming to this shop for more than 20 years. If its has anything to do with aquariums I recommend Sams best variety and the loudest and friendliest owners. Old man Sam has stepped down but theres a younger version now with the same mouthpiece. Lol
