Sfaff members were kind, my children enjoyed the play area. A revamp is needed in the play area though, floor is worn out, and jungle gym is old with some things are broken

Would give a MINUS 5 if I could....What a joke of a restaurant, your lady manager is pathetic to be honest... food took longer than one hour to prepare and when we looked around other people who walked in 30 minutes later than us got their shusi before us (it was the same type of order).When we asked only to pay for what we recieved the manager had the audacity to argue with us and wanted us to wait there even longer !!!You will NEVER see us again, hope you know you lost a lot of customers in one night , I hope you will choose your staff better.

Wonderful food and great caution taken for covid which makes you fell comfortable to visit.

The waitress actually knew what a vegan diet consists off, and could help me with what sushi to order, a welcome change for the east rand. The sushi was good and the views entertaining. Can recommend this for everyone, whether you want a quick bite or as an outing for the whole family. 🌼

Visited your restaurant for the first time on Saturday 19 September 2020. I enjoyed my meal so much. I was impressed by covid 19 compliance. It was so good. Keep it up.

Tonight, 27th of August 2021,I decided to treat my wife to a decent fish meal. What a disaster. We stood outside the restaurant for 20 minutes in a queue before we were scanned and taken to a table. Then another 2o+minutes before the order was taken. Our drinks came 10minutes later and then an eternity later the food came. The food was fair to good, I took a bit of the peri peri sauce, about a teaspoon full and left the cap of the bottle. The sauce tasted sour so I did not eat any more. When I looked at the bottle I see that it was boiling as if it was fermented, it was boiling over as indicated in the attached photo. To get the attention of the manager was just as difficult. We definitely will not go back there due to the lack of service and bad experience we had tonight

The food and service by waiter was excellent, they sang very well for my bday song. We really enjoyed ourselves... Tnk u to All Team.

Attempted lunch with my kids and mum, unfortunately did not receive a great welcome or introduction. We sat for too long waiting for a menu even. We saw a couple come in after us , seated and handed menus by the host. Not cool or a great feeling. When waitress eventually came did not even apologise. Asked her if this was going to be the service level , were they busy- response was yes! So we opted to leave and indicated politely to the manager the reason ( we told him, he didn’t ask). No apology and not even a question or response! Absolute shocker. We went next door to Cappucinos completely different experience great food and service. Please work on yours John Dorys .

We waited over an hour for our food. I had to go to the kitchen to go and ask them for our food. When I got there it was in the hot plate and the waiter was missing. The place was not busy at all. I have never experienced such bad service. I will never go back there again.

Hake was like rubber. Ask for a salad. Got a bowl of lettuce and 4 cherrie tomatoes. No buffalo prawns. No buffalo wings. First time not a good experience.

1.Waiting 40+ minutes for food isnt cool - Got here 3:45, now its 4:26 and we still waiting.2. Dirt - I just asked the waiter to change the glasses because they are dirty.

Ive been here a few times, the food is usually very good and the play area is small enough for me to keep an eye on my daughter while she plays. This Monday was the only time where the food tasted like yesterdays food and the waiter was only nice when I was paying the bill. However, the lady at the play area, wearing a blue top, was very good with the kids.

Play area is small enough for me to feel comfortable enough to take my toddler and she gets a lucky packet each time! The play area assistant is the greatest. Specials every day, delicious food and lovely decor.

We were at John Dorys on Sunday the 8th of December. What a disappointment. I asked the waitress specifically what the difference is between the R89 starter (two included) as apposed to ordering it separately. I asked if the portions are smaller and she assured me theres no difference. Well alas it arrives, no bread for the mussels or clam chowder and smaller portions. We then ordered a platter and the prawns and calamari combo. The combo arrived without the prawns, the coastal platters one prawn was raw, not under cooked, RAW. The salad I ordered as a side serving was a few tomatoes, onions and lettuce. Nothing like the picture advertised in the menu. No olives, feta etc. We eventually got the prawns that had to be part of the combo (R119). The calamari was R129, I was still billed R129 instead of R119. Its not about R10, its about rectifying your mistakes and being professional. Guess we wont be eating John Dorys again soon.

The area isnt very sanitary. There are flies and spiders in the restaurant. The tables are tacky and the place is just ridiculous.

On the night we went it was fairly busy but we were seated immediately. The waitress we had was by far the best waitress with a wonderful attitude and attentiveness to our table and needs. Food was high quality, tasty and came to the table in next to no time.Well done John Dorys

I was there on Saturday 25 the waiter was horrible the service was horrible everything took so long our drinks our food we had to ask other waiters for ours coz he just desapeard in to thin air at the end of all the was a rat 🐀under our table 👀 wen I told them abt it thy were not surprised n thy didnt care about it

I have visited John Dorys a couple of times but the last two times were not good. I ordered the sushi salad, and the Salmon was not fresh. Last time they had not prawns for sushi, so we ended up walking out.

It seems you cannot place an order on the phone, as no one ever answers the phone or the line is busy all the time, tried for 15 minutes to phone.

It was okay, their fish was a bit small. It disappointed me. Otherwise clean and friendly staff. I will check it again.

Good dayMy experience at John Dorys in Carnival mall was not good I went there on 2 occasions the first time when I received my food I ordered Steak with chips the plate looked delicious but then I noticed there was rice under the steak and chips. I then refused to eat but willing to pay for the drinks we already had the manager insisted on not paying this was about a year ago. So this past Sunday my Kids asked me we must go there again so against my will I said okay. We waited an hour for 4 plates of food which was cold when we received it then when the bill came I was charged wrongly I brought it under the waiters attention. I also had a John Dorys card with vouchers on so I asked to redeem the voucher if it was still available I was asked by the waiter to deduct the difference of the amount from his Tip and they can not redeem any vouchers cause the system is off .I did then deduct the difference from the waiters tip cause the manager cant fix the bill and I told the Manager he can use the vouchers on my card because they will never see me again. So at this stage I am very disgusted with this Branch.

This branch will never see me and my Family ever again. Last night 1.11.2017 we took our daughter to John Dorys as she won a competition at school so we went out to celebrate, and it was me and husbands Anniversary as well, we sat down at about 7 we ordered our daughters food which arrived intime no problems there, the waiter told us that if we order sushi it might take about an hour, which we didnt mind, for the rest of the evening we had no waiter, my daughter was thirsty and we had no waiter so eventually my daughter started drinking he ice water out of freaking bowl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was on our table as we were drinking wine, by 8:45 we still havent seen our waiter and our food hasnt arrived as yet... and my daughter is still thirsty..... just before 9 our food finally came by this time my husband is fuming as we have been waiting along while, I was starting to get a headache as I havent eaten anything as yet, when our food came it looked inedible it looked like it was just put together, the strawberry sushis rice had turned pink already the cream cheese was all mushed, by this time we had started complaining, we ended up only paying for the drinks and my daughters food, they gave the sushi to us as a take away, we left the parcel on the table and just walked out, its not about a free meal or anything, it is about the service, and we were not the only people complaining about the food or the service. So from now on they wont see us again ever, we used to go there every Wednesday for sushi.

The service isnt up to grading. If I had another option I would choose it. They dont make it a experence enough. Ive went a bit more times and they still fail with the simplest crush Ice and if someone comes more than 10 times and ask the same thing you should at some point include it.

Had a great meal! Sushi was the best we had in a while and the magaretha - wow delish! The staff is very friendly. Overall service - Great!

My daughter just turned 1 today so we went to John dory’s. She was in the play area and I was watching her and her 3 yr old brother as the child minder was on her phone sitting down not even taking note of kids. I noticed a dead mouse behind the kiddies chairs and called her. After 3 shouts she came and the manager also appeared and I showed them the dead mouse and they did not even take notice of it arguing amongst themselves first. I must say it was disgusting experience from both the manager on duty and child minder, it was like it was the norm. My child is one and she puts everything she finds in her mouth....imagine that happened 🤬. Manager is useless just stands around having conversations to his staff whole time

Service was good, but we ordered the Soul Double platter. To say the least, it was absolutely terrible. The fish was undercooked and it almost tasted as if it was old. Unpleasant experience for the family, I doubt we will be frequenting the establishment any time soon again.

The service was good and the prices are competitive, but rated on a 1st time experience, well never go back. The play area is semi child friendly (have no idea if the floors are ever washed as the nanny sprayed perfume all over the artificial grass), dead flies and old food crumbs along the window, the toast is from the day before, the food was very oily, some chips were black, the bacon was burnt and its the kind of burnt caused by dirty grills which means that the kitchen was left dirty from the night before, the sausage is about the 3rd of the size of a vienna and jam is served in a squeezy bottle - very unhygienic especially when the lid is sticky. The waiter brings our sons food and on the way coughs as he walks towards us. Very disappointed and will definitely never return.

Sad sad sad to have experienced this from a John Dorys. I am a staunch supporter of John Dorys and a big advocate for promoting the John Dorys brand, especially their Sushi. Have been supporting John Dorys across the country when on business travel for over 10 years.I have recently moved to Boksburg from PTA and tried the John Dorys at Carnival Mall on 20.12.2017 for their Sushi Wednesday special.Upon arrival and while waiting to be seated I noticed an unhappy customer complaining to the manager but gave JD the benefit of the doubt and proceeded to wait for a table.After being placed at our table I witnessed another angry and unhappy customer across from our table complaining to the manager on duty.When we inquired with our waiter on expected time of Sushi orders he informed us that they are very busy and could wait between 45min to an hour for Sushi to be prepared and served. This was when I realised why there were 2 unhappy customers within 5 minutes of arriving at JD Carnival.We finished our drinks, payed and left for John Dorys at the East Rand Mall, where the service and quality of food was great.I have visited numerous JD’s on a Wednesday night Sushi special and besides a Wednesday being very busy with the special I have never had to wait longer than 30minutes for Sushi to be prepared and served. Well done to those JD’s that know how to prepare for Wednesday specials and deliver on time!Sad to say, the following day (21.12.2017) my partner returned to JD @ Carnival for lunch with family. Service was not up to standard and eating utensils were dirty with old food particles still stuck in between the fork!This is not the standard I have become accustomed with for John Dorys and clearly there is something wrong at this outlet. Unfortunately the twice-in-a-row bad experience has left a bad taste in our mouth for JD @ Carnival and I will refrain from visiting again.
