Beautiful mountainous scenic location in Agatha. Away from the city life, the Coach House Hotel is surrounded by lush green gardens very well maintained by their hardworking staff. The restaurant food at the Coach House Hotel is absolutely delicious and very well presented. The Staff are very friendly and courteous and the service delivery received throughout our stay was very good. One has to bear in mind though that it is an old hotel. Once tourism starts booming again it would be a great improvement to invest in a resurface of the swimming pool so that it is in fact sparkling blue and more appealing. The hairdryers in the bedrooms also need an upgrade as does the plumbing - lack of hot water at certain times. Apart from that we did enjoy our stay and it was certainly worth the trip. Special thanks to Cliff for making sure we were happy and comfortable and to Ellington for his great waitering at mealtimes. Compliments to the Chefs on the excellent meals prepared.

It was such an enjoyable experience to spent a long weekend at the Coach House Hotel. The staff is friendly, helpful and engage in such a positive manner wih guests. The food is absolutely delicious. Although it was a buffet, which I do not normally enjoy, the quality and taste was absolutely great. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Real value for money!

This is great place for a vacation 👌, I have enjoyed everything that is offered such as the massage, accommodation and the breakfast. I will definitely visit the place again sometime ☺ 😊

This place clearly captures the beauty of our province. The scenery is one to die for😍😍 and its very therapeutic. I took away the one star because of the service, the staff can be very slow in room deliveries and the food is sometimes is not up to the standards of this place.Otherwise its the place to be for all kinds of occasions except the ones that will disturb peace from other guests.

We love the area and always enjoy our stay there. Maintenance needs some work. Missing light bulbs, leaking toilet, garden care. Just needs some extra care. Yet always a lovely area to visit.

The food and the views of the mountain was great, but the hotel needs a bit more maintenance. When we got to our room the bathrooms were dirty and the shower blocked. The mat felt like it hadnt been vaccumed in a while. Both pools were green the whole weekend and no one bothered to go in.

Web site is definitely over selling this place. We paid for 3 nights and left after the 1st night.Staff are doing a god job under difficult circumstances, the hotel needs a major capital injection to be restored to its former glory.Crumbling, non maintained infrastructure everywhere.Orion hotels ( Owners) have questions to answer about the upkeep of this hotel. .Avoid - we wont be back.

Old rustic rich spacious natural trees airy free environment. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Great to unwind and reset.

This Hotel is stunning. Has a spa and a geated pool and a gorgeous view of Magoebaskloof mountains. Fantastic management service and staff is very pleasant. Be careful on the roads towards there though, sharp curves and some potholes.

Extremely disappointing. We visited this establishment is 2017 and quite liked it. This time round it was like visiting a different place. The room are poorly maintained. The bedding does not fit the beds properly and the bathrooms are appalling. I would not recommend this place.

Excellent value for money. Spacious rooms with antiquated luxuries (that dont always work - for example the old wall hairdryers). The heated towel rack is a nice treat, it just takes awhile. The bed we slept on was super comfortable. Place has charm, but is dated so dont expect a modern hotel. Go for the gorgeous and rejuvenating views from both of the pools. The view will never date. The heated pool is down by the spa and has the best view in my opinion. The breakfast and dinners here are yummy and good, but sometimes not consistent. For example during our stay I ordered desserts on their menu, but each night something different came on a plate for the same menu item (peppermint tart is not a sorbet) 😂 entertaining, but maybe not for everyone. The staff are down to earth and friendly. Solid people who care. I feel like this place really gets the basics right: comfortable rooms, good food, and a relaxing atmosphere. The spa is well priced as well compared to spas in the city. There is not much to do here except swim, eat and go to the spa, so it is good if you want to relax, but if you want lots of activities look elsewhere. In the evenings they show movies for the children.

Lovely place to stay the area is wonderful but in reality we can see the results of covid 19 on the hotel industry.

Firstly, what the website pics show nd what it really is.. Is very deceiving. The pics on website are very old... The Caoch house hotel... Is very delapidated nd run down. There was no water in the pool. Some of the staff are untidy and do not smell fresh.There was no hot water.. Only one hour nd then cold. ThTere was only hot water for an hour.

Accommodation at its best. Food is excellent

It is a quite place, however I will not recommend it for my family. The room I was in was not pleasant at all. Breakfast was very much 👌 👌 I had to close the tap for a toilet as it was making a noise. Owner must change the sleeping 🛌 they are no longer in good condition. I couldnt watch soccer for the whole weekend as theres no channels. Change also your TV 📺 🙂

Family and I went for a one night visit. The staff is absolutely friendly although our check in was delayed for three hours due some rooms not being ready.The food was amazing 🔥😍😋 but my only concern is that there wasnt enough plates and no consistency in cutlery and glassesThe rooms well ventilated and clean but no toilet paper and two of our guests had problems accessing their rooms because of the cardThe Spa treatment was amazingThe back neck and shoulder massage 😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥💙💛 Mum totally loved the massage

A nice place for a romantic getaway weekend

The place is beautiful and very peaceful... But we waited for YEARS for our drinks to come. I cant even mention how long it took for us to receive our food.

The rooms were good, cleaned and towels changed. The environment was perfect no noise great breakaway. The Restaurant still has a long way to go, their food was awful, tried lunch and A La Carte meals for dinner we were very disappointed and the service I will rate it 2 since you always had to call for attention, once you served a meal the waiters will take forever to check up on you if there is anything you may need. If they can work on their restaurant I guess they can be better because having to drive around to eat out is a journey. We enjoyed the Live performance they hosted.

Wonderful weekend away. The Manager, Blessing, lives up to her name! Stan and Thomas super and go the extra mile. The Chefs cooked fantastic meals. A few minor things that need attention post Covid, but I am sure that will come.

Visited the first time 5 years ago. Went back again, but unfortunately they are not friendly toward walk-in customers. My family and I did not feel very welcome, even though its a beautiful spot and Im sure hotel guests will love it.

What a beautiful old gem. One of the best settings in the Tzaneen area. This must have been the best hotel in the area in its heyday. Like so many things in South Africa, a lack of good management is unfortunately evident. Some maintance work is necessary. Food was well prepared but we waited for 45 minutes for it to be served ( and we were only 4 people in the restaurant) Hotel is still worth a visit.

Beautifully situated in the mountains. Fantastic view. Great service. Only problem was that they only opening that week, so their menu was limited, and their bar wasnt stocked.

The hotel is very well kept and it has a spectacular view, however, the reason we visited the place in the first place, was to get our hands on the delicious nougat from that little nougat factory that used to make and sell it there. Regrettably, it closed down and no more nougat 😭

Its in a good location surrounded by beautiful views. The rooms are spacious. The restaurant service was terrible, there wasnt enough waiters had to wait a long time before we were serve at some point had to get up and ask to be served. The food was bad, too salty, rice soggy - received wrong breakfast orders over the two days I spent there. Please improve.

Enjoy the spa treatment and visit local attractions such as Agatha crocodile farm, Tzaneen museum at the Municipality or visit magoebaskloof adventures for adventure activities such as Ziplining, abseiling, water

The rooms are filthy, smell of fire smoke, bathroom tiles and doors never get wiped at all. The facility still has potential only if they can start cleaning

This place in mid of great natural beauty, food is fantastic and people there were co-operative. But in our room TV was not working, it does not even have dstv channels, few cutlery were dirty too which they cleaned afterwards.

The worst accommodation ever for a very inflated R1600.00 per night. Smelly room. One towel for two guests. Grossly over priced dinner started an hour later than promised. Stay away!

Pictures on their website are very misleading. The furnishings and rooms are quite dated and need basic maintenance / upgrading. The king bed was terribly hard and not at all comfortable. Bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. Dont expect luxury accommodation, even if you opt for a more expensive suites. A la cart dinner menu is quite sad and food quality is below average. The buffet (if available) is the saving grace where dining is concerned. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Views are spectacular. If you can overlook the fact that the rooms are below standard and this is not a fine dining restaurant, then the peace and tranquility of the place is worth the visit.

Very limited menu. Took forever, -each stage even getting some one to take your order took 30mins. Heyday gone.

The view is fantastic but the room layouts and decor are from a different era; quite dated and in need of repair, but the beds are comfortable and each room has a fireplace. The staff are super helpful and their service is great. The grounds and bar are lovely; all old world charm. The dinner/breakfast is divine. The spa pool is divine.

A beautiful, remote hidden gem with friendly staff and great service. The spacious rooms have the most breathtaking views and are filled with comfortable classic furniture, a soft bed with feather pillows and a table with chairs on the patio. The room was far larger than most hotel suites. The indoor heated pool was a welcome embrace from the cold weather outside. I only had one problem, our fire place was out of order. I really wouldve liked to light a fire on that cold night.The drive up the mountain is definitely worth it. The road is tarred all the way to the hotel, there are just a few potholes and a part of the road has entirely broken off on one side. We went there with a very low sedan that has low profile tires and didnt experience any problems.

Its scenery. Located above just outside Tzaneen high on a mountainous place. Beautiful tall trees. Has rich history. Enjoyable and Good to be there.

Go for the views. Stay away from the restaurant and restaurant staff. It is an absolute joke!!!

Great Experience, All round Superb work from the staff from the friendly welcoming Security to reception and management teams. We were always kept in the loop, room service was on time. Amazing Views to top the great experience. We will visit again without a doubt.Thank you Team Coach House.

Some of their rooms have fire place and has perfect views, their food is really delicious and the staff is really nice. The hotel is on top of a mountain and has a great view. You should visit the place in winter to enjoy the mist and make use of their fire place.

Beautiful scenic place however the place needs a revamp in terms.

Comfortable rooms and well prepared food. The rooms would be better with tiles not carpets (allergies). Rooms and towels are clean but towels have done their time and need to be changed. Would be convenient to have WIFI in the rooms and list on the phone of hotel extensions for room service or reception.

Th coachhouse has really deteriorated since it’s not a family run loved hotel . The beautiful white buildings are now a grey colour ! What a pity .. the place is totally unloved and is stating to fall apart as there is clearly no maintenance being done internally or externally ..the staff seem disinterested in everything they do and it’s really such a pity ! All the style and special attention is totally lackingThe initial rooms we spent the first night room 26 and 25 were not ready by the time we arrived at 5 pmBathrooms dirty and very tired / telephone to reception filthy and not working . All the light fittings had only globes and no fittings !The mattresses are tired and uncomfortable . Shower mouldy and dirty . Electric plugs also dirty and the law itches missingDon’t even try and eat there the dinner was unacceptable! Raw and inedibleDon’t waste your money there !!

A lovely atmosphere. GREAT place, the food is great. The view from the Hotel is priceless. Its a great place for a holiday.

Dirty rooms. We checked in after 2 PM, the kettle had coffee Marks. The ice bucket had water from the previous people. There was no fridge in our room. The showers are hideous and messy. Kindly revamp this place. Its not up to standard. We had bees in the room, called for help, they send a security guard to come and close the fireplace with a black plastic bag. Unsafe place. No hot water, then no water the following day. No. Close up this place and revamp it and start afresh.

There is something timeless about this tranquil location and resort. I absolutely love staying here. I am energized after every visit...

Friendly staff and excellent meals. However the standard of the rooms or at least room 41 is in poor condition. Mattress is worn out as is the carpets. Lots of small things not working in room and out dated. The venue is quite nice with a wonderful view over the mountains. The gym facilities are also very limited and out dated. The spa and hot water indoor swimming pool is well maintained.

Friendly service and very eager to help. I asked for an extra mattress and they assisted me with one at no extra charge.I did struggle to call out to reception. Suggestion - please put extension numbers next to the phone to set the fire. We loved the fireplace!I did miss a bar fridge for our softdrinks. But luckily it wasnt to hot outside.Thank you for the flowers when we entered the room. It was beautiful! The room was way bigger than what we expected.We will visit again for a longer period in the future. Beautiful place!

Rooms very nice.We were 3 in a room but only 2 big towels. We were a big group for dinner. Took very long for dinner to arrive. Food was tasty though.

Beautiful special food and outdoors

Firstly, AMAZING view, majestic.. however the building and service is run-down-3-star. We had paint peeling off and stains on the ceiling in our room. Rusted bathroom fittings and a general feel that the room bedding, furniture and look was 45 years old. Dont expect elegance, luxury or sophistication but rather old school 1970s or earlier feel. Pools (indoor and outdoor) were murky), food was ok, service was friendly but lacking something.. perhaps a personal feel. I would not recommend it. A missed opportunity however we understand there is recently new management and with a revamp this could a gem.

We had a wonderful weekend away. There’s a nice spa, heated pool, small gym and a cozy restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There seems some maintenance needs to be done on the property like a fresh coat of paint and there was a lot of ants just next to our room but there wasn’t anything that hindered us from having a great time.

Terrible, the person at the reception very bad on his service he can barely speak English. I will not recommend the hotel. We phoned to stay over on arrival the guy did not even look interested in helping. We got very helpful and good service at the magoebaskloof hotel.

Had Christmas lunch here and it was such a disappointment! Definitely not worth the asking price. The service was horrible and they promised things that they never delivered! The scenery is breathtaking but the establishment is such a waste! Its old and delapitated!! They need to upgrade the hotel and get better management!

Great location and good service, staff are really trying hard! Good, hearty, homemade food and breakfast included was great. Hotel overall in need of some TLC and upgrading but it seems to be happening. Need to promote the hiking and cycling nearby as a drawcard. Duvets on the beds should be invested in. Good value for money.
