As you enter Tokara estate one gets the feeling of opulence and class.The estate is perched overlooking stellenbosch. What an exquisite view. The tasting room is beautiful and all the finishes in the building are top class. A really nice experience in the middle of the week.Sadly, the wine was average in comparison to what’s on offer in the surrounding area.There is artwork throughout the estate!

Went for lunch with the family. Were very fortunate that it snowed a day before as it enhanced our experience even more. The food was as amazing as expected. The ambience was amazing. The wines were priced realistically. Definitely a fine dining experience that I can recommend for value for money. Didnt do the wine tasting, but is on my to do list.

From the entrance of this establishment one can see and feel that they are stepping into opulence. The scenery is beautiful and lush. I booked online and there was an almost response from the restaurant confirming the booking. The reception and the service were great, the staff made conversation with all of us and Shawn, our waiter, catered to my 7 yo daughter’s dietary needs and her barrage of questions 💕.The menu, although limited due to pandemic, still provided some level of variety l. It was flavourful from the starters right through to the dessert. Definitely one winefarm to visit when in the vicinity.

I spend my womans day afternoon at Tokara.. the wine tasting was amazing.. I ordered the lamb shoulder for lunch and it was heavenly, the best lamb Ive ever had.. Luvo our waiter was so friendly and knowledgeable about wines.. tokara was better than expected

Beautiful 5 star urban modern feel winery with stunning modern arty interior and Tuscany vibe views to match. The wine tasting had some of the best tasting wines weve had on our trip which concluded in a purchase of a few bottles. Most definitely a MUST when in the area surrounding Stellenbosch. We didnt take as much images from inside but take our word for it. Stellar

Food preparation was amazing. Yellowtail was out of this world as a started. Rump as main was well presenter but a little tough but still very taste.

A spectacular experience from the first greeting to the end goodbye. The food was exceptional and the ambiance was very relaxed. I appreciated the fantastic attention to detail without any of the pomp that often unfortunately accompanies finer dining restaurants. Tokara is definitely our scene and we will be back time and time again. Thank you.

Upscale restaurant, very chic, trendy and delicious food. However, the service is not the most friendly one. We arrived with our baby at the restaurant for lunch and were told that we ‚cannot sit outside because our stroller is distracting the view.‘ At the end we were allowed but the start was not exactly handled nicely ...

Amazing views. Food was just okay - Not wow. The different flavours on the plate didnt particularly work well together but were cooked well. For the price, was a bit disappointed..

The food for the adults was great, cannot fault them on that. But the beef for the child was so tough, even I as an adult could not cut through the meat with my stake knife. When we raised this with the waiter, he said the Chef only said we ordered well done so thats what we got. child didnt eat the food and we still paid for it.

Great lunch and wine

Tokara has definitely been a fav of mine in the past. Not only does it have exquisite views but it also is a beautiful venue. I was unfortunately very disappointed with the restaurants food when I went there for lunch on Sunday. Although beautifully displayed the food was very tasteless & flavourless. I am sure that patrons including me would be very happy to pay more for good quality food, especially if we made the effort to drive out to the restaurant. Hope that things get better.

Beautiful idyllic location that you can leisurely enjoy. Delicious fine dining spoilt by mechanical bored going through the moves staff. At an upper class place like this you anticipate genuine service and interaction for discerning customers. Pity as it could have been a really sumptuous experience.

Excellent dining experience. Waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Food was superb, and tasty. Portions were small. Cheese platter was well rounded and although I did not have a desert the coffee was also of a high caliber.Recommend going during the day to get the amazing panoramic view as there is not much visibility at night.

We really enjoyed our wine tasting at Tokara. Our server was very attentive and quite informative. The views were breathtaking and really added to the experience. There are multiple balconies you might sit at to enjoy the scenery. My wife and I would have picked this location as a wedding venue if we were local to Cape Town.As an added bonus, you get a free wine glass with your tasting.

It was very busy so there was a wait list for tastings. When it was finally our turn the crowds had died down and our service was not good, it was like we were an after thought. The grounds are beautiful and I would recommend a visit.

This was the first stop on our wine tour and I wish it would have been our last - only because I would have bought more wine!! The glass viewing room was gorgeous and the staff was kind enough to close the windows/doors when the wind really started to pick up. The olive oil and balsamic tasting was a nice accompaniment too!

After being delighted with their wine tour, wines and olive oil, I went to have dinner at this beautiful restaurant. My dinner was perfectly cooked. Service was also very good. Make reservation with time. It can get crowed.

One of the best meals and views you can have in this wine region. Excellent service and even better wine. Request to sit in the deck if the weather is good when you book. Take the sommelier’s suggestions and pair their exceptional wine with each dish.

Very nice experience! You get a very good food in a good qualitiy for your money. But it is jot only a good restaurant you will have an experience as well. I suggest going there when the sun is setting. So you have a very nice view on the mountains. You can have a drink at the balcony and then you go inside for your food. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is very relaxed! It is totaly worth it! If you are around stellenbosch you have to go there!

If youre looking for a upmarket wine farm, then youve come to the right place! Great service, view overlooking the Winelands and air conditioned seating area.A slight bit on the pricey side for a simple wine tasting but it is to be expected from an upmarket establishment like this.Please note: they no longer offer free wine tastings.

Amazing high quality food, amazing views, amazing stuff, breathtaking atmosphere, beautiful garden with stunning art, a new place beside, like a bistro a bit more easy then the main restaurant but as well beautiful.If you’re around, please don’t miss to eat here. The rosé is our favourite wine here. Make a reservation for lunch on the terrace. Bring some time and enjoy an Uber. It’s magical :)

Lovely surroundings, good service, and a good selection. Unfortunately the raviloi was served quite sweet and two cheeses were left off the cheese board and we had to request they be added.

It was a sunny beautiful winters day and we had just finished a wine tasting at Tokara. We decided to stay for lunch at the restaurant next door. It exceeded our expectations on every level - attentive service, uncomplicated menuand magnificent location with views over the valley.The soup of the day was a cauliflower and mushroom consume - could not have been better. My wife choose to have the kudu tataki which she really enjoyed - tasty top quality cuts with tasty accompaniments beautifully presented.For mains I had the rib eye steak which I can recommend and my had choose the line fish - Mauritian seabass and really enjoyed her meal.We chose the Tokara Directors Red which we thought was an excellent match.My wife had the chocolate dessert with granadila ice cream and I had the coconut ice cream with some other yummy bit my memory fails to recall.Altogether a highly enjoyable unplanned lunch. Absolutely recommend.

I have been visiting this restaurant since before its revamp in 2010 and I just love it more and more every time I go there. The food never disappoints and the views are some of the best imaginable. Highly recommended for those whom like gastronomic invention... and simply enjoy fantastically presented gourmet meals. The staff are well trained and professional in everything they do. The menu is regularly updated, so new favourites are always on the horizon

Ok this is my favourite fine dining restaurant. It has the most amazing views from Helshoogte pass. The food is always great, and the wines compliment the food. Tokara has one of the best Chardonays in the world, and their Directors reserved red is the in the top 1% in the world. Sitting inside is more formal and the experience is better, but outside is more romantic if weather pernits.

We did the wine and brandy tasting. It was good. Beautiful scenery too.

Great place with wine tastings and olive oil tastings. Recommend the Extra Virgem cold pressed. Not sold in bottles. Need to fill up a bottle at the very place.

Do not, under any circumstances, miss out on a visit to Tokara. This is not your bog standard mass participation experience. Individual attention, knowledgeable and caring staff and superb views and ambience make this a fabulous experience. This is one for the conneseur.
