I love this place. From the friendly welcome you get from staff members to thr delicious food they serve. They have the best platters and the best cakes in the entire Joburg. I highly recommend it for all occasions.

The cheesecake rainbow 🌈 cake is the best!! Just so sad that when I went there previously, it was jot available at 11h00!! You only serve it on weekends and I plan my cake days for A Saturday to eat rainbow cheesecake! Can you please have one every Saturday by 10:00?? Then I will give 5 star service!

Classy restaurant with variety of food options for adults and kids

If this is not #FalseAdvertising at its best, then I don’t know what else is.I ordered this meal for delivery this past Monday from the #WalnutGrove restaurant in Sandton.Even as I was somewhat underwhelmed by it, I sucked it up and never complained but I told myself I won’t be buying that again!Now listen, R189 for pasta is quite hefty but hey, it’s Smoked Salmon Pasta, so it kind(a) made sense and in my head I’m also thinking there must be enough salmon in the meal, hence the price tag.Not even.So, there I am minding my business on Instagram when I see the #WalnutGrove’s post promoting the very same meal I’d bought the same week and it looks nothing like what I was sold.I was shocked. Yip, it was the same Smoked Salmon Pasta I bought but wasn’t quite sold.As you can visibly see in the pic from their post, there’s plenty salmon on their plate (unlike what you see in my foil takeaway container), the salmon is not mixed with the pasta (in my order it was), the meal is beautifully topped with garnishing that includes lemon, chives etc (not my order though).This is utterly #unethical and #dishonest of the WalnutGrove in Sandton.I have brought this stark difference (in what they claim to sell and what they actually do sell) to their attention and whomever manages their Instagram account was polite enough to assure me that restaurant management would get in touch with me.I’m still waiting.UPDATE: Management has gotten in touch. See pic for their response and you decide for yourself.

Nice ambience, service not too grand

The place is situated in the middle of Sandton and has an amazing view in the middle of the 1st and 2nd floor of Sandton so you are not with the common shopper and foot traffic. The acoustics in the area are very well done lots of hanging objects to control the volume of the area. So you can have a pleasant chat with who ever you are with and not have to shout above everyone sitting around you. The decor looks and feels very comfortable and the have a variety of seating options to soft and hard chairs The beverages where speedy and fast and we and they ever serve little (I mean tiny) red velvet cupcakes. The food was good no dought but it took awhile for all our orders to arrive at the table at the same time and as you finish your plate of food some elses was arriving. It was good but could be better.

The only reason I continue to visit this place is because my niece and nephew love the cupcakes (and rainbow cake occasionally).Beyond that, their offerings vary from wonderful (the Chocoholic milkshake) to mediocre (the prego roll / burgers) and the service is consistently bad. That said, Brian did manage to salvage our most recent lunch, so shout out to him.

Firstly, the table we were seated at was dirty. Oil or goodness knows what underneath the table and stained my pants. Wiped with wet wipes and actually showed the waiter. His response oh thanks for pointing it out. If it wasnt for us already ordering I wouldve left. The food is mediocre for a place in Sandton. Very disappointing.

Walnut Grove is a great place to relax and have some good food and amazing cake! They are currently observing Covid regulations well. You will be scanned and sanitizer on entry. Our table was sanitizer again before we say down too. Great service and food quality!

Milk Tart Milkshake!! Must. Have. It. Again!!! Anyone going there cannot leave without trying it. And the food was brilliant!! Highly recommended!!

I understand that being a public holiday the restaurant was busy but not once did anyone ask us if everything was okay and sadly we were not asked if we would like anything further.....We asked for the bill and left

What can I say! Outstanding service. Outstanding food. Happy staff. The first time I came to Walnut Grove was 35 years ago. It just gets better and better. The standard of service and the quality of food never changes....its OUTSTANDING. Keep it up guys....this is what service and quality is about. You leas the way. And your options are always so big.

The decor and feel of the Walnut Grove is great and makes for a great coffee spot. By the taste of their red velvet cupcake, it is worth stopping by for a sweet treat. We waited a long time for our food (brunch time) and the food was fine, not great, but okay. No problem with the service. I will definitely be back for coffee and cake but will probably avoid brunch time.

I’m a regular at Walnut Grove. This restaurant has a unique position on a mezzanine floor near the food court. This makes it somewhat exclusive and less noisy. It’s a great vantage point for people who like to watch the world go by.The service is always good - friendly and attentive staff are always around.The food is good and my new favourites are the tacos.Their fresh juices are good although occasionally a little on the warm side.All in all it’s good value for money and they’ve got a reward card system through Zapper now.Thrilled they’re environmentally conscious and are serving paper straws now too.

Food and drinks are fine. But overpriced for what they are. Especially being told that their ice tea is poured out of a bottle into a glass, not in an individual can... and they charge R29 for that? No thanks.Can’t go wrong with the cakes. Very sweet, a single slice will satisfy at 2 people very well. Very beautiful cakes too.Atmosphere is quite pleasant as is the decor.

My colleagues and I visited for lunch and were warmly welcomed. The food is quite pricey here. I ordered a salad, it was over a R100 and there was no half portions. The salad was huge, fresh and delicious, unfortunately I couldnt finish it and I wished there was an option of smaller and cheaper.Around the table the steak and the nachos were ordered and I heard many Mmmmms so I suspect it was great. It certainly looked amazing!

What a plant conscious menu. I am totally impressed and only R6 for soya milk with my tea. Very impressed. The little metal tea pot keeps the tea so hot; I dont like cold tea.

Did you know Walnut Grove is the oldest running restaurant in Sandton City? If not, we just hit you with some knowledge!The food sure was a winner, great portion sizes and real tasty too. From the wraps to sharing platters, everything was on par with any good cafe. The pasta was especially good, we would walk back to Walnut Grove for another one of those bad boys.We were disappointed by the service. We would ask our waiter about signature dishes, and all he could say was that everything on the menu is good. That is not the end of the world, but what annoyed us was, when we asked him to make sure about the sizes of the cocktails, he gave us wrong information and he couldnt be bothered about it, very unprofessional.So the atmosphere had us on a 50/50. On the one side, it is a very elegant and posh setting, perfect for a relaxing and delicious meal. I always see this restaurant full and now I understand why. Delicious milkshakes and tasty, well presented food makes it really worth while. The atmosphere is buzzing but allows for good conversation. It has an interesting set up and location too. The only thing is the service is not great. This could because they are so full but it took long to take our orders, with the waiter sometimes walking away mid order and trying to get the waiters attention for the bill was next to impossible. We ended up going to get the bill ourselves due to the time.

I loved the custard and pastry slice. The rainbow cake was very buttery and heavy sponge even the cupcakes oily . But the service was great.

Food and presentation was good. Service definitely slow and lacking. Furniture looks badly worn and needs to be replaced - and decor looks like it’s been around since 1975. For the price, definitely time for an upgrade!

Always a great experience! The location is unique and attention-grabbing and on top of that the interior is quite creative. The convivial atmosphere is a great attraction. Not great at all.Baked potatoes ,veges & lamb chops were burned.Spinach with cream was the only thing edible. The lady who was at the next table returned her food.The day was spoiled after shopping dead today.

The Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake changed my life!!! Absolutely mind blowing, it had all the decadence of a Strawberry Cheesecake but was still fruity and refreshing!Service was quite slow and a bit off putting, but the food was definitely a redeeming quality!

Had a very lovely experience here, the waiter was very kind and nice . He scored himself a good tip for checking up on me and my partner every once in a way. It was my first time at Walnut grove and I had a lovely, out of the ordinary experience. It is a place I would take time to visit again.

The food took about an hour to be ready. The drinks took about 30 min before we got a serving. The chicken was dry and under seasoned. The manager who was on duty said they will check up on me as I was complaining about my stomach. That never happen.

The responsible manager on duty was rude and abrupt when asked for cutlery which should of be originally brought to the table. Please avoid with management behaviour like this

Disappointed at the service received today during lunch. I was firstly told in a reprimanding tone that I only needed to fill one line of the Covid contact form. Secondly, upon entering, there was a confrontation between the waitress and another two patrons. Decided to leave and try another restaurant instead. Very unprofessional and chaotic.

Great place to eat with a wide variety of selections. Everytime Im undecided of what I am craving, I pick Walnut and I always leave satisfied!
