Good service-especially the meat counter, really great products and willing to help. Large store and has lots of tills available. Ample parking with guards and has ATMs etc onsite.

Checkers advertised weekend promotion only. T-bone R99 per Kg, but all T-bone priced R119 per Kg, lady at the butchery says the price will be reduced at the till, which doesnt make sense. This is not the first time checkers has something on promotion only to realise after paying it not true, and having to go to customer services waiting for an hour while they want to solve the problem while you are waiting for the refund. This was the last the of the promotion, which means a lot of people bought it thinking it cheaper, yet it was the same price. Disgusting!!!, please check your slip if you decide to buy from them !!!!

Still one of the best single shops to visit for a huge selection of products, groceries and produce, and a variety of price-points on all of those. The store is well maintained, with every department well looked after and clean. Always a few items on sales, and generally always a pleasant shopping experience UNTIL you get to queuing for a checkout teller. THIS always gets you upset as there is always a shortage of tellers and always queues of customers waiting to pay.This store adheres to Covid-19 hygiene regulations.

Great selection of products ranging from food, DIY, house and home products, etc. Wide variety of fresh produce and meat and fish with an in-house butcher and fish market. Great baking section and a multitude of specials to benefit from provided you a an Xtra store card. Only downside is the long queue process especially if they are busy. It just seems to take exceptionally long to get to the cashier. Almost as long as using government institutions, I e. License renewals

I hate to give this place such a low review because I do enjoy shopping at Checkers usually but after seeing other Checkers Hypers this one completely has lost its standards & does not compare. There’s a smell in the place that has been going on for months. It is a total turn off. It seems to get worse on weekends. What really solidified my disappointment in them however was that we purchased a work desk from them. We were so excited to get this home and start to assemble it! When we opened the box and started following the directions we found that pieces were missing, pieces had chunks taken off of them and some pieces weren’t the correct sizes. The draws would not stay together and it was just a total disappointment. We won’t be buying any furniture from them again.

I think this Checkers is called a Hyper due to size but it only stocks half of the goods that a normal hyper would.It’s easy to move around. It has a pharmacy.Trading hours need to be extended.I find it better to shop at the Checkers in Allen’s Nek

I bought chicken the other day and it was a bit off so had to leave it at the holiday resort where I took it to, then got very good help from the manager Riaan who gave me other drumsticks. Very helpful.

Im unable to find contact details for the management of this outlet, so Ill be posting my concerns here for everyone to see 👍🏻 first of all, why are there so few tills open in such a big shop? Secondly, why are your products packed under specials, when theyre not on special, and why do you make customers pay the full amount even though it is your mistake? This Checkers smells so awful, I can hardly breathe even though I have a mask on. Shame on you Checkers. Disinfect and clean your fridges!!! This constitutes a health hazard. Because of the smell I normally rush in to buy cleaning products only. Definitely no food for me thank you.

Store is going backwards. Ques are too long, found mouldy fresh baked goods from the bakery and nobody could say when it was baked. Shelves are poorly stocked....Wont recommend this store to anybody.Disgraceful!

Staff is rude. They dont listen to a customers request. The staff at the hot deli counter dont seem interested in doing her work. At the till points the staff send me from pillar to post as they dont want to assist me again, then they start shouting at each other about why they dont want to assist me in paying for my purchases. All these incidents happened within 1 hour on a Wednesday morning when the shop is quiet.Safe yourself from rude staff and shop somewhere else.

Vast choice of items with usual confusing specials which do not suit pensioners. Check out moderately unpleasant as assistants think they are doing you the favour of being there.

Last month i purchase pork ribs and they had a very unpleasant smell, only to find out theyre spoiled. On the 8th of April I went back there and there was a karoo wors promotion and some lady offered me a piece to taste, it was very good so i bought my own pack and it was spoiled...im very disappointed.

Horrible service in the pancake section . The two woman making the pancakes were rude and extremely disrespectful! No custer service skills at all and a complete lack of interest in what they are doing and in the end the customer suffers from their bad attitudes! They both should not be working with customers if they are not trained on how to take orders.

Most unpleasant shopping experience! Staff are unfriendly and uncooperative! Answers in grunts and frowns! How is t possible in today’s times that staff ignore a friendly greeting and never even bother to make eye contact when spoken to????? Why are they in a job with client contact if they hate it so much????

Been experiencing quite a few challenges with this Checkers Hyper:1. Pricing on shelving vs scanned price is always higher.2. Hot food items clearly have 1 very visible price but the person enters a completely different code.3. Security getting more hand sanitizer on your clothes than hands4. Cleanliness of the baskets especially; was unfortunate to grab a very sticky one in the rush.5. Wet wipe containers at the House and Home side seem to be constantly empty.Not sure how or why they are dropping the ball but hope they improve as they are conveniently situated.

This is a very big Checkers so they have EVERYTHING.. well most of the time anyway, the cheap stuff runs out pretty quickly. Service is good but gets slow at month end. They have been pretty good with sanitizing hands and trolleys for covid-19 as well.

Ive stopped going to this Checkers Hyper because of the lack of service and specifically till points hat arent attended meaning long queues and have been told many people in our area are doing the same. Wrote to Checkers and explained this and my exasperation and never even received an answer. Our feet do the walking when treated poorly while trying to spend out hard earned salaries. Checkers doesnt seem to care or they would respond.

Forget the long queues cause thats expected from such a big shop, but the cashiers are flipping slow...theres no sense of urgency, you wait in the queue for a whole hour!Ive been to food lovers and makro in the same area, queues are just as long but you will never stand in a queue for 15mins...cmon Checkers something needs to be done!!!!

I am soooo angry! One of the checkers 60 delivery men was flashing his lights at me, he made me think there was something wrong with my car, I slowed down to talk to him and he overtook me!! I was driving the speed limit and he didnt even drive faster then me when he over took. So so rude Im completely put off checkers 60!!!

I tried buying online for delivery on the app and what a waste of time. I selected all my items and when I wanted to pay it showed out of stock which it did not when I was selecting. I will go back to Pick ‘n Pay at least that works efficiently.

There is ALWAYS a queue of about 9/10 people deep at the very few tills they decide to open. This is where souls come to die. Whether you come at 9h00, at lunch or late afternoon it’s a mess. Avoid avoid avoid.

I went to hyperama this morning and the hand trolley was so durty. I mentioned it to the guy who sanitise the cshoppers and he laugh and said yes ye ye ye ye. He was so rude to me. I will never visit them again. This was the entrance from house & home side.

I love shopping at this store, the staff are friendly and helpful..... There is only one comment, as a 77 year old pensioner, I often go to purchase the ready made foods after 5pm at 50%discount ,but have never been able to get any fish as the staff queue up before the time and I an blocked from accessing it... Can there not be a period when customers can first access and thereafter open it to the staff?

I had n complaint, spoke to n guy named Andrew who looks like n body builder. H tried to intimidate me. Seems like this man is on steroids as he comes across very aggressive. The branch manager Boet has come out and spoke to and he advised that Andrew is one of his managers. Boet basically told me if I dont like it I must remember there is n right of admission. Is this how Checkers Hyper treat their paying customers. This will be posted all over social media about how this branch treats customers.

Clean, not crowded, good service

Checkers really has everything in order for the lockdown, they make sure that everything and everyone is sanitized when entering. You receive great service with a smile. Thank you for you extra care to keep your customers save.

Went to Constantia Kloof Hyper and you were closed on the 1 April 2020 at approximately 1:00pm. Not cool as I needed to buy veg and dog food. This I would have done before lockdown, but you had no stock.

Rude and Arrogant cashiers. Dont acknowledge or greet customers. And when asking dont they greet, they tell you up straight no. Takes forever to ring up items as they discuss the items amongst each other. Prices are always labeled wrong or no stock. Worst shopping experience and then not to mention that you can stand up to an hour at a till just to pay for 2 things.The packers will even let you struggle carrying your packets, but they wont offer you a trolley standing empty behind them as they need to make a bit of effort to get another trolley. When asking if you can take the trolley, they say no and when you take it in anyway, 10 of them will discuss and give you filthy looks as you walk away.Welcome to 14th Ave Hyperama - dont expect anything and you wont be disappointed. Also, dont think you will get out of there under an hour!

Convenient Hyper store.

When I first rated Checkers I gave them a 5 star rating and over the last year Ive slowly changed it. These days they often have no stock. They have packed the isles with so many pallets of things ranging from food to toys and this includes the entrances where you often struggle to just get past. Shopping here is now a nightmare, Im just grateful that I go early morning when its quiet.I dont buy the sausages or wors anymore as Ive found too many small bones that although small are still to big to pass through the mincer. It feels like you are so busy trying to push everything on consumers that you forget about the weekly customer.

No matter what you report, Checkers does nothing to improve the performance of the staff or the quality of food in any of their stores. Tried a few. All disgraceful.

The lockdown has everyone stressed and the rule of 20min per person is a great idea except when you are there for less than 8 min and get stopped by security telling you that the time limit is 20 minutes and pushing you out even though I didnt get everything I needed, so I went to PnP hyper got everything I need with no pressure and less than 10 min👌🏻. Thank for showing me that I should not even waste my time at Checkers hyper Roodepoort. 1/5

Theres a cashier named Nelly and her assistant, they were so rude to me and my wife, they packed detergents with food in the same plastic bag, she then snatched the speed point out of my wifes hands before she could complete swiping, her behavior was so disgusting for lack of a better word, 0 star for keeping such an employee.

It is situated of the main road in a residential area and has a great ready made food selection. If it has been a busy day and you just dont have the energy to make supper, there is a great selection of home style ready made food. It has the usual Checkers stores goods and a liquor store. The real reason I like this store is that it is open from 8am to 8 pm.

Love to do my shopping here when I visiting my children. This is a 1 stop shop for all your requirements. Clothing, food, gifts, toys, bakery, butcher as well as a chemist. It sells furniture, tools, paint and all hardware. There is a bottle store with a large variety of products. Auto banks and a post office. Môre than enough secured parking.

I always appreciate the service I get from this store. The staff at the tills are super friendly regardless of the time of the day. I like that I am able to return stuff even without a receipt. To me thats exceptional customer service. I highly recommend it.

The shopping centre was built around Checkers. As it is a Hyper store it contains everything you can think of from hardware to small appliances as well as groceries. There is also a Checkers Home within the centre from which one could by furniture and appliances. Parking is free in an open parking lot. There are ample disabled parking bays as well.

Hi there.I am so sorry to bother you with this complaint but as a trusted regular customer for years at Checkers I must confess Im highly dissapointed in a few things about service at Checkers Hyper Roodepoort.I would like to submit a complaint about the following:No prices on products.(Example dog food...when I go to buy dog food there is no one to assist with prices and also no prices on the shelf? How does that work?Monday I went to Checkers Hyper at Roodepoort 14th avenue to shop for a few things and decided to make use of your bakery department and I bought 12 hotdog rolls.My disappointment was big when I got home only to found in a brown paper bag that I cant us one of those rolls for dinner as it was small, pressed together looks like it had a stroke or something!!!How can you sell quality like this to the public and wish the public will support Youre stores nationwide? Its a total disgrace.I hope someone will drastically step in and fix these problems because these kind of advertisement can sink any store. And Im sure Im not the first to complain about service and goods bought at your stores.The saddest part of all is... We all work hard for our money and if we have to buy food atleast we want decent quality and sadly sorry to say but Checkers Hyper doesnt add up to theire promise to provide fresh and decent food to the public.And another thing...Why is there almost 20 paypoints and only 5 that is open to pay? An appalling service from Jennifer Direko who refused to pack our groceries, she lacks courtesy and customer service she even went as far as saying I can go ahead and report to the manager, Im disgusted and will never set my foot at this store that clearly disregards customers

Pathetic. I thought it will be quick to buy one cleaning bucket. Waited in line while ladies at till chatted to each other. I decided to go and interrupt just to be served. Then the barcode didnt work. 30min later for one item!

Staff at the food counter is not always that friendly and when I indicate that I do not want the food I purchase in a paper bag, the bag is oily and I do not appreciate the bag. When I ask for a foil container I am told that is not how they sell food and then they be come more unfriendly.

Too few cashiers for the 25 th. No manager insight or available. THEY ALL KNOCKED OFF UNEXCEPTABLE IN MY BOOKS. 3 items had no price or Barcode. Felt I had to leave these items behind because of the long queue behind me.

Customer service is not great at all. Its convenient but lacks quality. Especially the bakery. Ordered 100 hotdog rolls, when I collected everything was dumped in a trolley shrinked up. No could assist. Ill never order from your incompetent bakery staff ever

Fair selection of items however pricing at the teller versus the indicated pricing on the shelves differed on three occasions. This is unacceptable as customers are actually paying more than advertised prices.During one visit there were long queues but staff were chatting amongst themselves. Response from manager was that its month end and hes short staffed. Poor management style and feedback.Purchased Marcels frozen yogurt from this store and it was rotten.Not recommended at all.

Convenient and good, but avoid buying ice cream here. Their ice cream freezers ensure a previously defrosted purchase, and when it comes to ice cream thats just plain nasty.
