Fabulous location. Staff were wonderful. The restaurant serve really good food at great prices. The accommodation is spacious and fitted with everything you may need, and more. Only thing to be aware of is that you have to be extremely careful when getting in and out of the hot tub and also sit very still when youre in it...one misstep on the slippery tiles and you may just end up with 3rd degree burns like I did. Apart from that its definitely worth a visit.

We stayed 8-10th October 2021 at Nellies Needle. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We received complimentary wine, jam and bread. The unit was clean and we had all we needed. I only have one fault and that is that the bedroom pillows were dusty and I had to sleep without a pillow. Perhaps replacing the pillows or steam cleaning them on a regular basis or even old fashioned dusting them outside would work. Otherwise we had clean, crisp linen and nice big towels. The bathroom was very nice with a great walk in shower and rain showerhead. The bath was comfortable and relaxing. I really enjoyed the outdoor shower too. The big patio/deck with braai and hot tub was superb and the views absolutely incredible. The hot tub and view were the reason we booked and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed the complimentary wine of Opstal chenin Blanc too. The walk to the look out point was pleasant. We did have an incident of someone peeping in at our windows and possibly trying to get in to steal but it was handled well enough by the mangement and fortunately we were fine. (It could of been a chancer or a peeping tom).The unit is fitted with an alarm and camera so that helped us feel more at ease. Overall a lovely stay and Highly recommended.

Loved this place, we stopped there for a quick breakfast the last morning before heading home. We were welcomed so warmly and the food was amazing. Beautiful scenery, such friendly staff, amazing food. 10/10

Absolutely gorgeous place for a total breakaway. Free wifi, no Tv, wood fired hot tub, quality linen. Overall a fantastic stay and highly recommended. As I tip I would say bring plenty of firelighters and matches.

Opstal is consistently excellent in the three keys to a good Restaurant - food, service and ambience. It is quite simply a jewel in the beautiful Slanghoek Valley.

They went out of their way to accommodate me even they were full and I was a walk-in. Food and service was great....cant wait to go again....

Beautiful setting with stunning views. Exceptionally good food and wine.

We chose 2 wine farms to visit for a tasting, we called before arriving to book and confirm pricing. When we got to Opstal the tasting cost was more than they said over the phone (this put us off) because there are loads of wine farms in the area for much cheaper. Then to top that the tasting content was much less than we know a tasting to be, and thirdly we ordered milkshakes for the kids which only came at the end of our tasting, and there were literally only 2 other tables. Not a great experience. The experience was not worth the price, needless to say, we left disappointed. They should definitely take a few tips from Slanghoek cellars, thats the one we visited next, for less than half the price, and a much much better experience.

Really fun wine tasting with a completely honest sommelier. It was rather refreshing compared to many other nose-in-the-air wine farms we have been to. If it is available, we totally recommend the Everson 2018 cape blend, which is to die for! We regretted not buying more and managed to get a delivery from their website.

Combined a wine tasting with a lunch at Opstal and enjoyed the atmosphere, brilliant views over their vineyards with the Slanghoek Mountains as a backdrop. The waitress arrived with homemade cheese/herb bread and grape jam that was super tasty. Unfortunately they dont sell the bread, we tried to order some, as did the table next door, but we couldnt convince the chef. The wine steward is very knowledgeable and the tasting was great. Ordered a glass of wine for the meal and paid a mere R15! All in all, a winning experience!

Went for wine tasting. Fantastic staff and we had some good laughs. Really good wine. They do a 💯 percent Semillon. Also tasted a barrel fermented chardonnay in Brandy barrels. Best dessert wine ever. Highly recommendable.

We enjoyed a short get away staying at Opstal Stay for 2 nights. It was absolute bliss, relaxing in the wood fired hot tub. A bottle of Rose Wine and Potbrood with Peach Jam was complementary. Thank you Opstal Estate for accommodating us. We will recommend to all friends and overseas visitors for future. We hope to visit again next year 🤞

We stayed at one of the luxury Cottages and I must say, we loved it.Well equipped, great design and the views - are amazing.

Delicious food! Lovely Estate sparkling wine. Kid friendly with a jungle gym & toys. The owners/managers are very welcoming and helpful. Our waitress could have been a bit friendlier. The setting is amazing and if you are there in summer its great fun to taste the difference grape varietals growing at the base of the play area. Found that very interesting! ☺️

We stayed at the Carl Everson and Barber chalets over the week end early March.The accommodation is brand new and modern with all amenities needed. The views are spectacular and the hosts were friendly ,helpful and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the harvesting experience.Will return in the winter
