Visited today to do my usual grocery shopping. I noticed that the fridge containing the bacon and polony was not working. I also felt the packs to be very quite warm...evidence that it had not been working for some time. I asked to speak to the store manager who promptly told me that he would call someone and would remove the products. I continued my shopping and by the time I had left some 20 minutes later no product was cleared. The is a serious food safety concern.

The place is under construction so the fridges are not available. That means not meat or poultry are being sold. Smells like a construction sight too. Just go to another Checkers for now.

I cant believe how impressive the service was today. Pretty at the express tills went out oh her way to help me with my loyalty card where she really didnt have. Thank you Pretty, you made my shopping experience fantastic today.Over all the Checkers in Northgate is quite could, Id recommend it.

Great Place to shop

I forgot my parcel in a trolley inside the store by the security. Went back to query after 20 minutes but no one bothered to help us, or check the camera. They just went in circles and told me I wont get it. And it wasnt even full because it was just before close of business. Customer service is horrible

Service realy great staff realy helpful and friendly can not fault them by any means..i am a bit dissapointed in the ready to eat meals i bought some mini chicken and mushroon pies and they basicaly just pastry filling not even a teaspoon full and no mushrooms ...but staff and store a great experience..

Staff at tills and entrance and counters r so unhelpful, do not want to assist very slow, and rude. This has accrued on all visits. Rather shop at Pick an Pay Northgate friendlier staff

Generally I like Checkers, but definitely steer clear of this branch. After numerous chances the service remains shocking, the stock is limited and often on the verge of expiry or already expired. Its a better bet to go to the PnP on the other side of the mall.

I have shopped at this Checkers every week for the past 6 months. I shop there as my 80 plus old mother wants to shop there as it is convenient for her. The staff at the tills rude and not helpful at all. I have reported this to the manager 4 weeks ago. No improvement. Very unpleasant shopping experience every time.

Very scruffy shop. Lots of things have no price. Check out people all look very miserable and not friendly at all. Bread rolls all look very flat and soft as even the crispy ones are soft. Fish counter however is awesome as beautifully prepared fish which is well displayed and all price marked.

A big thank you and thumbs up to Checkers Northgate, after having a full trolly of groceries the manager himself came to me with another cart and kept my full cart at the front, he arranged two cart guys to take my carts to my car and gave me a free box of chocolates for Valentines day. Amazing service from all personnel.

One stop shop, has most of what you need and usually well stocked for promo items. Wouldnt recommend the fresh meat section though, always has an unpleasant odour.

Friendly shop I just like Checkers Northgate. I will take a star away because I think their meat section isnt so nice.

We normally really like Checkers, but this specific Checkers is really not recommended. On numerous occasions we have bought food, only to get home and found that it has gone off. The service is also very poor. The staff behind the tills is never friendly and quite rude at times.

I bought a Blackforest cake for my b/d yesterday and WOW WOW WOW100% AWESOME It was fresh and the BEST EVER blackforest I have ever had A BIG THANK YOU

What a fantastic shopping experience! I was in the store on Monday morning with my 8 week old baby to do my monthly shopping and when I reached the counter to pay I experienced the most fantastic service. The staff were extremely polite and friendly even offering to assist with unpacking my trolley . Keep up the great work.

Worst Avocados Ive ever eaten in my life

I take my hat off to Lilly your switchboard lady who went the extra mile .... and a half yesterday when I phoned requesting if a specific microwave was in stock ...I have dealt with Ayanda before and he is tops but it was his day off so I left my number with Lilly who took the iniciative to check the stock and get back to me that same day!!!!Thankyou Lily ... This place is not over crowded. You would almost everything you are looking for in this centre. The store is clean and well set out.

The store is a bit rough and does not look clean and inviting. But it has a great selection and pricing is some of the best for groceries in the area.

Reasonable place to do grocery shopping. In winter they have the most wonderful hot soups.

Good Checkers only problem i have the Chicken always seems to be in bulk packages or never any stock as we only two we like the smaller packages of 4 or 6 that is chicken breast i am refering to .spoke to them on this issue an they say its the supplier we are using

Great for people who are busy during the day and can only get shopping done later when they come back from work.It is more convenient to shop there at night as there are fewer people meaning you can shop at ease

Had such a lovely experience. The store manager is incredibly helpful and even went the extra mile to assist me when they were out of stock of an item that was on specal. He made sure I didnt leave empty handed and didnt have to pay more for something similar.Great Service

At least they can consider closing at six on Saturdays

Not a very good experience, twice the cashier left the desk to look for something for customers in front of me! Surely this is the reason they have a helper I have a leg disability and am unable to stand for long periods! I shop at quiet times because of this! Northgate Im afraid is not a very good shopping centre at the moment! Unless the shops cater for a customer friendly experience more people will leave n go somewhere else!

ON Friday 20 February 205 I bought 2 different pairs of rubber gloves at the Checkers Nothgate shop, They were the Rubberex comfort active (R24.99), and Shoprite Checkers latex gloves (about R14) to compare the value and to see how well they would last.When I got home I discovered that the more expensive gloves had been rung up twice, and the cheaper gloves had not been rung up at all.It makes one wonder - do you have to check every item the young woman at the till rings up? How often do things like this happen? Does one have to check the till slip in detail before you leave the till every time you shop?
