This park Could have remained a perfect beauty in the heart of Pretoria but it has been neglected over the years. No maintenance of the ponds whatsoever. The ponds smell very bad and the big birds dont swim anymore.However, It still has beautiful tree species that can provide shelter for picnics while watching rare bird flying around.Highly recommended if you like horticulture or bird watching Tranquil and private...

It is a lovely place if you want to take photos. Small little water ponds and beautiful trees. Dog walking seems very popular too. The parking is a bit of a challenge though

Free park with beautiful water fountain and well maintained landscape. Not busy when I went there Tuesday. Can bring own gazebos as none provided.

Pretorian are lucky to have such a gorgeous place, lush green, perfectly maintained with a lake and river and little waterfalls for the kids to play and plenty of grass for the dogs to run around. The park also houses native plants and offers scenic views of the city and the Union Building. Its a perfect place to enjoy a day out with kids and dogs on the grass next the river under the trees, there is nothing like it.

Very well looked after for a municipal park. Has lots of private pockets so it doesnt seem crowded. There is no cost to visit. Great picnic spot.

Jan Cilliers Park is really is really beautiful place. With so many places to pick and choose from to sit and relax. Its also really pet friendly and is great for walking your dog. My only complaint is I wish the broken benches in the park get fixed.

This is one of few parks I have visited and I must say is one of the best and peaceful, I will be visiting it more and more.

One of the few places, where u could still picnic fairly safe within a secured area , beautiful indigenous plants and trees, small waterfall, fish in ponds and bridges over a waterstream , child and dog friendly and nice place for photo sessions etcThink it will be absolutely beautiful in Summer.

Perfect for a picnic, taking pictures or a play date for the kids. The park is always clean and secure. Plenty of friendly dogs around. Security is always present and helpful. Theres not a lot of parking inside but parking outside is relatively as safe.

Was so nice to relax amongst the trees in the sun, we had a lovely picnic. Waterfalls, dams and cozy spots are all over the park, cannot believe that it is surrounded with houses...A little peace and quite from the city hussle and buzzle! Our doggies also enjoyed the park visit very much! Will definately visit the park again !

It was our first time ever, we didnt know what to expect, we avoid parks in Jhb like the plaque yet here, we felt calm, peaceful even free to walk around and explore. The park is very popular with family groups, couples, content creators and bigger picnic groups. My only hang up was clear evidence of residual litter and the toilets were dirty, I know its a public toilet in a public park BUT if it is guarded, which it was, and we are expected to pay a fee, then I expect cleaner toilets, at least. My boys would have no problem urinating against a tree BUT we dont allow that, so clean toilets are a must!!!

This is the best public park in Pretoria. It covers a large area, so many groups can sit far from each other. The gardens are well-tended, with large trees for lots of shade. This is a wonderful place to spend a relaxed afternoon.

The park is very neat and safe. Our dog can ran freely and there are plenty of picknic spots. It is situated in boomed community but still accessible for general public.Number of beautiful plants species is impresive and we could relax and enjoy the beautiful afternoon.

A shout out to the city of Pretoria for their services here.Back to the review, the park is a beautiful particular after the rainy season, it has a Brooks, bonds, and shading trees that offer one a place to pass the time away and get reacquainted with their loved ones.As a mark of how good this park is, its a regular spot for wedding photography.

Very spacious. Lots of friendly people having picnics and dogs running around. In my personal opinion I think they can cut the grass a bit shorter and take out the weeds covering the grass.All in all, a good place to enjoy nature

Beautiful place for a picnic. Ladies restroom was not clean though and no toilet paper. Water kept running into the toilet. Waterfall was not working and dam water was full of algea. Lots of weeds in the flower beds, but still worth going.

Jan Cilliers is a nice park for a walk accompanied by ones canine companion or just a picnic. Sadly people dont often pick up after their canine friends so beware before putting out your blanket for a picnic. Generally the park is well maintained and there is some security in the park so no vagrants in sight.
