Went there yesterday and ordered 500g of T bone steak and lamb chops which they didnt have and we had to resort to ordering the giant rib which was nice but took forever to get it since they were waiting for their meat deliveries. Its quite upsetting being shown a full menu but being told the available options are not what you initially preferred

Great service delivery. I loved the food. We had the grilled calamari. We were also just in time for rush hour, when selected cocktails are R45. It was an enjoyable lunch! I really enjoyed the relish on the chips. Divine!

Fun, the only problem I have is at night the outside area does not have adequate lighting maybe addition of fairy lights and candles could help.

Great place. The music is good. The food is amazing. The staff are awesome. Has a wide selection of drinks. The cocktails are superb.

They have a great cocktail selection, either than that, the food is not all that. Had breakfast here and couldnt help but taste vinegar in my egg Benedict, I know why though but I wasnt too pleased with this. Love the fact that its not saturated with alot of young people. It only gets vibey here when there is a performance otherwise youd definitely enjoy your drink unbothered.

Their pasta is amazing and affordable. I like that they cater for groups. Their cocktails are to die for. It was a bit cold, no heaters on site despite being winter. I hated that, I even left early because of the cold.

Calm indoor outdoor space with very tastty food and drinks

Looking at the pictures and discriptions of the meals in the menu got me very excited, but I was completely disappointed with what I received. I asked for a meal with rye bread and ended up getting soggy, half-toasted white bread. The waitress didnt even know their meals, she had to look at the menu when taking down our orders. We had to little cutlery and the waitress ended up bringing me cutlery in her hands still wiping them. I will not recommend this place to anyone and will certainly not be going back there

Met a friend for coffee to help with university work. We asked for the WiFi password which they happily gave to us but were not happy when we ordered only coffee and no food. Wasnt the ideal relaxed atmosphere. When I was ready to pay he shook his head when I presented my card to pay just for coffee. WiFi is very helpful - the restaurant is clean and good for a meeting or to work. I hope the service improves on accommodating all customers.

It isnt a place to order food. Just for drinks. The food was cold, raw. Inedible to say the least. The drinks are always on point though.

Had the worst experience at the Hatfield branch. the food that we ordered was different to the food that we got. for example , the menu says the one sandwich came on toasted ciabatta but it came on greasy white bread. we all found the menu very misleading. my one friend also didn’t have any cutlery and when she asked , the waitress bought it in her hands whilst still wiping them. i found this experience extremely disappointing. definitely won’t be recommending or coming here again.

It is sad that news cafes are facing extinction. Please stop by for a plate of nachos

I had the WORST EXPERIENCE of my life here on Friday, 19 March. Had the rudest waiter, made me feel so unwelcome since the minute I came into the door. What a disappointment since they promote with having good vibes and sevice. Will Never go back.

Slow service. Bathroom not well serviced (toilet not very clean, and hand wash liquid soap kept in plastic cup for everyone to dip into).

The food was terrible. The waiter got my order wrong and even after that didnt change it. Pity I didnt take a picture.

I used to go to this place when it was still at The Square. Its still one of the places I can go to for a meal and drinks and have more than I expected. The new location still has a lovely chill, a great vibe and the ambience, mncwaaaa out of this world.

The best thing on the menu for me was the cocktail (a pink gin) . Had finger foods which were not bad. Casual environment. Service was a bit slow but not bad.

It was good. The waiters really try to be helpful and attend to you. I dont think they are flexible in tailoring some things to how you want.

Ordered what I thought was going to be a really good steak. Their Signature Melt. Instead of a luscious piece of steak I got cardboard, riddled with sinewy pieces of inedible meat. When I told the manager he only replied with oh, I hope youll call again. Not offered to bring me a new one. Definitely wont go there again.

It was a sad day when the old news cafe over the road was pulled down, because it was a key focal point of the Hatfield nightlife, but like a phoenix it has been resurrected, now just over the road. Good food and great atmosphere. Expect the liveliness barometer to hit the high points on Thursday and Friday

Rude waiter that really annoyed informed me they had no smoothies, which would be fine if you told me differently! Only went there for two coffee in the morning which were mediocre and had to wait long for this. Would not visit again, especially the way he was upset we only tipped him 7%.. would have given nothing if I knew that in advance!

Service was lacking. We only had one coffee waiters never ask if I want it with hot or cold milk, a Cappuccino drinks and a spicy latte that was not even spiced, basically hot milk with a little bit of cinnamon in. Send it back 3 times and then cancelled it. Place will not see me again...

With a menu with quite a few finger foods that are finger licking good - no finger bowls. Using the perfumed wet wipes spoil the taste of the food. Food was 5 star, service average.

My son and I travelled on the Gautrain from Rhodesfield to Hatfield. We stopped at the News Cafe for lunch before we made the return trip. It was really not nice. The service was slow, the order inaccurate and the food was less than good. It was mid afternoon and there was no News Cafe vibe that I have experienced at other News Cafes.

Hatfield cafe is the oldest restaurant in Hatfield still serving good food and drinks. It was originally located where rapsudy restaurant is now and moved across at the right end of the parking lot with ample parking and sitting area. It looks much better now with i side and outside sitting spaces.

Its an amazing spot with good food, drinks and great hospitality.
