Great service. Process is also user friendly. Deposit is very reasonable. Unlimited mileage is also available. We booked 2 vehicles for our road trip and they we in great condition.

These guys disappointed on 2 fronts. First, my sister who hired a car from them at the airport for my wedding day was blindsided by an exorbitant deposit, the price of which was only mentioned when she was about to pick up the car. Second, my wife who hired a car from this depot was misinformed about varying options of hire such as sponsorship packages.

Thrifty Car hire has very slow service. They find fault to deduct from your deposit. Their in store price do not correspond with the website price. If you have the car back an hour later than mentioned they charge you for a full day rental.Many many many hidden fees. Be very careful before renting a vehicle from these guys.Scam.

The service we got was good but the problem is getting the deposit money back, its almost a month now , all we get it check with your bank while the bank says there was no authorisation on it..whose fooling who here, you need to work on your services regarding that, as we were not the only one with this problem. its inconveniencing us.

Absolutely average experience. The prices are better than other companies, but the cars tend to have higher mileage. Customer service is generally decent. Beware the T&C though. If you have even a tiny single vehicle incident, you will be liable to double the standard excess, regardless of which waiver option you take.They do not explain this to you, but it is in the fineprint.

The people are friendly however the cars are in poor taste. I received a dirty car and because of the time I have invested in checking the car and having an appointment I settled to take it.Im definitely not going to use their services again. Not sure how this company survives. First they messed up my booking. I called on Wednesday at 16h00 for a vehicle to be collected at 07h30 on Thursday then on Thursday morning I called them at 07h30 to ask what I need to bring with and they tell me that the booking was made for the the previous day 07h30. Thats the same day that I made the booking but in the past??? Then, I try again the Thursday afternoon to collect on Friday morning and when I arrive to collect the vehicle they tell me that I have to pay an additional R 300,00 for the additional driver. I told them that I own a business and wont be driving the vehicle myself but that my driver who was standing right next to me would be driving the vehicle. I had explained to 3 different people over the phone BEFORE arriving to collect, that my driver would be driving the vehicle but they waited for me to arrive to collect before they casually informed me that the driver would be considered additional. So the price that they quoted me telephonically was not correct. Seriously bad business guys!! I feel that it is my duty to let other people out there know how you operate as you are not providing a good service and you potentially cost people more money. I was forced to make other plans which ended up costing me more money but as a matter of principle I decided not to support a company like yours.

The online booking and picking up of the car was a really good experience. The staff are friendly.The rental prices are reasonable and affordable. Unfortunately the car was not properly clean when I picked it up, but nothing that will hinder me to use the car.The trouble comes when they have to release the hold they put they put on your credit card after you returned the car. They say it will be released within 7 days. On the 8th day it was still not released. When you phone the national number they continue to put you on hold and dont get back to you.I had to go to the Pretoria branch to get it sorted. Only when I was in the branch, they started the process to lift the holdWhile I was picking up the rental, another customer had exactly the same issue and they assured me that it is just a fluke.I would give them a 4 star rating if the hold wasnt a problem.If you are looking for a rental company that has reasonable prices and you can live/ deal with the bad after care services that doesnt release the hold, this is the place to go.EditI have changed my rating from 3 stars to 1 starUpon investigation, Thrifty realised they didnt place a hold on my card but deducted the money. They decided not to directly refund the money, but to do a card machine reversal, which they said will take 1-3 days to reflect.3 days later still no money.

The reception service is awesome. However, the car we were supposed to take,was dirty. Infact we checked two Polos and really, they were not properly washed. They were filthy inside. My work hired a car for me. When I got to Thrifty they wanted to do an ITC check before releasing the car. Why! Then.. Guess what?! The people for ITC checks are on lunch. Wait! The booking was done three days in advance. All the time in the world to sort admin out. I am disgusted!

Very unprofessional service!! Phoned a couple of times, a few days apart and they dont answer the phones. When we got there, we saw that they are basically not interested in answering the phones. Had some difficulty with the renting process as well after we have phoned in advance to find out which documents are needed (spoke to head office as well). Extremely disappointed and will never make use of thrifty in hatfield again. Staff are very rude. Not a happy customer.

My deposit still hasnt been paid back and its been two weeks. Inspection was also not done appropriately during pick up, upon drop off I was told that the carpets for the vehicle were missing. Which were never even issued to me.

The service is bad, they are not helpful at all. I was experiencing a crisis with a car I once hired and I ended up just fixing everything by myself and they ended up taking a amount of money without any authorization from me.

I hired a vehicle and when I return it, all the sudden they accursed me that I have damaged the spare tyre that is underneath the vehicle, which was never checked or inspected when I collect the vehicle. And of course I have not use or touch the spare tyre at all. I have also informed the costumer care department, no response. I complained at Hello Peter and finally they admitted they have accused me. It is absolutely unacceptable 😠
