My friends and I camped at the premises from 10/09/2021 to 12/09/2021. The place is awesome, so peacefully with game animals roaming around. Gert was most definitely an awesome host, he made sure that we were well taken care of.Everything went well in the bushes πŸ•I definitely recommend that you camp here.

Just loved camping here. Shared ablution can be a challenge but it was comfortable enough and clean. Love the wild experience and standing on the island just gave an extra feeling of privacy.

Gert please be aware that sharing our personal information, will have legal consequences. Please be aware that YOU still have an outstanding bill with us for services rendered. If you would like to carry on with your childish comments , we will then have no other choice but too take legal action against yourself and de rust. Thank you very much.

Nice rustic camp site. Has elec and reasonable ablution block and swimming pool. Disappointed with the servicing of the ablutions- it was not to the same level as our first visit- to be fair this may be due to staff restrictions during Covid. Regardless will definitely go back.

Excellent campsite in Dinokeng Big 5 Reserve. Owners are always friendly and accommodating. Lovely for a quick and easy weekend break away. Only complaint would be that at the end of the month the local community a few kilometers away can get a bit noisy. But understandable as we all sometimes need to let loose. Other than that brilliant.

The safety and well-being of my family was compromised after the managers dog tried to attack my husband and then my young child (6 yrs) on two separate occasions, while trying to access the reception area. Instead of apologising, the manager proceeded to blame the behavior of my daughter. The campsite is at best 2/5 stars. Small, crowded camping area. Small pool that is barely big enough to accommodate all campers and no hiking or day trail options. On the first day we were welcomed by an intermittent smell of stagnant water. Toilets are minimally clean, often out of toilet paper and handtowels, particularly worrisome given the hygiene concerns under COVID-19. Very disappointing experience.

What kind of grown man sends a 6-yo girl crying to her mama when his unleashed dog viciously attacks her out of nowhere? Gert du Preez does! β€œI refuse to apologise; you need to teach her how to behave around dogs” #VictimBlaming!I was stunned. Such blatant deflection and entitlement. My daughter was skipping along and chatting with her dad. Absolutely zero sense of accountability and consideration for others. It would be one thing if this was some stranger, but this was the receptionist at De Rust; someone who works in hospitality & customer service (huh?). And this was after the dog (β€œPixie”) attacked me the day before!!! You cant make this stuff up. There is simply no excuse for not leashing a dog who clearly poses a threat to patrons (two incidents in two days – I’m genuinely confused by the lack of self-awareness here). When I mentioned legal action, he dismissed the idea since we had signed the indemnity form – wait, are you suggesting your dog can just attack guests with impunity? I’m not sure what the owners are thinking putting someone like this in front of customers. The facility itself is a no-frills campsite (our preference) but it’s run-down and could certainly do with some TLC. The stench when we got greeted with on the first day was unfortunate but the air did eventually clear. IMO, the sites are a little too close to one another and feel cramped (fortunately we had wonderful neighbours). I was quite disappointed by the lack of walking/hiking options as that’s a big driver for us going camping (Gert didn’t seem to have a clue). The pool also seems too small to accommodate all the campers (evident by the murky water). Lastly, there was zero effort to encourage mask-wearing and taking any COVID precautions; I’ve been to other sites like MSP where they have signage and encourage responsible behaviour indoors. With the incredible camping options available in SA, I can’t imagine ever supporting De Rust again. It says a lot about the management that whenever someone has a negative review, they respond by claiming its a smear campaign - what on earth would my motivation for that be I wonder? Most of my other reviews are very positive. Shows a total inability to self-reflect and consider anothers perspective. And then to defend the actions of the perpetrator by blatantly lieing about a childs behaviour... very sad indeed. Lots of disfunction.

Beautiful camping ⛺️ site very close to the Dinokeng Game Reserve. Very reasonable prices and very well maintained. We enjoyed our site next to the river and loved the soft sound of the water in the night. Very pleasant and friendly staff and service and we really liked the experience. Dinokeng is great for a drive around and to see some game in the Reserve or in the private parks making up this beautiful place and Also close so close to Pretoria and Johannesburg. Will definitely be going here regularly thank you 😊

Tranquil old caravan park. Plenty grass & shade. Have their own clean pan for bird life, as well as (sadly polluted) Pienaars River. Plenty birdlife, very few animals.Clean pool. Clean ablutions. Buildings could be spruced up to make for appealing. Likely to go back again
