The place is very beautiful and chilled🥰💚. You have to go early though because of long queues to purchase entrance ticket but once youre inside the atmosphere is just refreshing.. the space is very open and the trailers make it easy to navigate around. You can have a nice picnic with family or your partner 😊

We had great fun and the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, however I do think that the Pretoria Botanical Gardens should make it clear on their website that they do not allow alcohol. There were several visitors who had to return cooler boxes of alcohol to cars. But I loved it 💕

The Pretoria National Botanical gardens offers lovely nature walks. This is worth a visit by the entire family. The kids can run and play on the beautifully kept lawns. There are public toilets and benches throughout the park. We thoroughly enjoyed this outing and will go back often. We had lovely take away coffee from the Milkplum restaurant and will come back to have breakfast under the trees next time we visit.

Absolutely serene. Definitely recommend going here and taking the whole family, having a picnic and enjoy nature and the beautiful view of the waterfall. Take a hike up the mountain to get a gorgeous view of the land (slippery and rocky terrain, I wouldnt suggest for smaller children) .

I had a wonderful time visiting the gardens for a belated birthday picnic (a bit of a warning you arent allowed balloons inside so mine had to wait the day in the car).It has gorgeous scenery, offers a nice peaceful environment and we has some little guests join us in the form of ducks and guinea fowls. There was decent and clean restrooms.Its definitely worth it for the R50 entrance fee. We had a wonderful day and will definitely be back again soon!

Beautiful gardens! Great to explore and learn about South African flora or to simply enjoy the beautiful landscaping. Dozens of trails to walk or jog. Dont miss the Milk Plum Cafe or the waterfall and aloe gardens nearby it.

Sandwich with steak and pear and blue cheece delicious. Stack burger and blue cheese sauce was huge and tasty. Service was fast. Smoking area (big bonus) Fresh pressed juice with beetroot and ginger was refreshing

A lovely and well taken care botanical garden, full of plant and green knowledge.. awesome hiking ground and mountain.. fabulous waterfall.. And most importantly one of the most serene environment for long hours of prayer and meditation..

The gardens are lovely an spacious with many areas to picnic. There are also spots where you can bring your own braai, music and enjoy the day out. Theres a nice little restaurant on site (Milkplum Cafe) if you dont feel like packing a picnic. They have a very nice drinks selection that are both delicious and refreshing. There are trails to walk in the park, through the trees and up a little mountain. The trails are well-marked and there are little benches for a nice Pic, along the way. You can spot Guinea fowl and various other bird species. The park is also abundant in Dassie. A great day out for the family or friends!

Great place to chill, great walk up and down the hills through the paths on and off the hills. Lashy greens all around. A very gorgeous water fall, funny wild creatures around. A nice wedding venue and an upmarket restaurants

Must visit place on your bucket list! Family place to visit. Just take a picnic basket/ cooler box on wheels , blanket, ball etc. There is a restaurant available. Walking shoes a must if you want to see it all.

Had a wonderful experience. I can still reminisce the sound of the waterfall and the refreshing air from the waterfall,an experience most closest to nature and what better way to experience the calming surrounding with family and friends over a picnic. I totally recommend it to anyone who wants a calm and easy day.

A great place to spend a day with friends and family. We had our girls lunch retreet picnic. It was great tk be in this nature reserve, the atmosphere was great and the weather favored us. Well maintained place with great views too. Will definitely recommend if you want to have an outdoor chilling event.

Not the largest garden but well maintained and managed. Decent hiking route over 5km and lots of places to stop and appreciate the scenery along the way. Little waterfall is always a hit with the kids.

Very unethical staff at the entrance. Photos and golf carts. They dont disclose enough. As youre clearing security to enter, they take a photo of you as if its part of security. Next thing you know, as you exit, they want to sell you photos. Give me the option to refuse from the start. Carts: they fail to explain that what you paid for is just for an hour. You return it, suddenly youre parting with hundreds of rands more. It is such a shame because this is such an awesome place. The only other problem is the heavily polluted river within the park. Horrible

Clean, tranquil setting with a large area to walk and space for picnics under large shady trees. There is a waterfall in the denture, and paved walkways roughly spanning a 6 km route. Walk around the waterfall area to reach a beautiful succulent garden. Centrally, the Milk Plum Cafe offers a shady area to have a light lunch or breakfast. Bring a picnic blanket and come and lounge on the grass.

This place is nice, quite and naturally pleasant. Can take nice pictures there. Well maintained

Its the best place to enjoy nature in the city. Its really clean. The waterfall made it more enjoyable. You can visit a couple or family or as friends. You can also enjoy the view of the city.

The experience was really peaceful. The place is clean including the bathroom. It was great spending time with family. Kids learnt a lot about different plants and trees. Hiking was also enjoyable and safe for the whole family.

Beatifull during summer. We went on a sunday morning. Quiet and peacefull. They only open at 9am, so check via email on opening times during lockdown.

Quiet and relaxed environment. Informative facts about the local fauna and some cultural heritage. Visited towards the end of winter so the gardens were not lush. Will definitely revisit and hopefully it will be more lush.

The place if fine but the management is rude, they allowed us to enter the premises knowing very well that they already closed and refused to refund us..

Had lunch next to the waterfall. Wonderfull experience. Will recommend to anyone to visit. Perfect for a spring picnic.

Fisrt of all its not expensive to enter at all. The price oer adult is R40 and childern is R20. The park is well maintained and very clean. I have noticed a few rubbish like plastic bottles and a few tins on the hiking trails, but other then that it was very neat. I will attach some of my photos that I took over the passed weekend.

A great spot to enjoy a relaxing picnic under the trees with family and friends, or for a picnic date. Be sure to go for a walk - you cannot visit the botanical gardens without taking the time to appreciate the beautiful flowers, plants and trees. There are enough benches throughout the park, should you need to take a rest. It is just a pity that the waterfall was out of order.The prices are pretty affordable at R45,00 per adult and R15,00 per scholar - there are discounts available for students and pensioners. The restrooms are clean and neat, though they can perhaps consider building more restrooms in different parts of the park. We noticed some rubbish lying around here and there, despite there being bins.I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone who is in the mood for a relaxing outing that is not too far a drive from home.

Beautiful, well maintained park. They educated everyone about complying to the Covid-19 regulations when entering the park. There is security cars making rounds every few minutes. The staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our time here. Great place to have a picnic, photoshoot, take a walk etc.

Beautiful and just like its sister site Pretoria National Zoo this place is a perfect 👌 Family 👪 spot. Whether to spend all day as an entertainment or as lovebirds on a romantic picnic outing this heavenly jungle satisfies all the needs. For the Hikers and Runners in need of a breathtaking scenic trail this is the place to be.

Excellent place for a day out if you do not know where to go or what to do. It is definitely a great place for a picnic. Boards and notifications are due for an update/upgrade as their quite faded by time....But truly not what you expect and overall a nice day out with something different to do for a change.... @ R45.00 pp its also affordable.

Beautiful and well maintained. From the moment you walk there is no litter and can clearly see the place receives daily attention. Lush green and an ideal place for picnics. Only thing thats not that hot is the bathrooms though.

The Botanical garden of Pretoria.The very definition of an Oasis. A patch of green surrounded by the concrete jungle.I do not know if they always have guides but, get one if you can.That place is simply amazing. Clearly a lot of thoughts and efforts go into it.Do not walk through it, stroll. Come early enough with bottles at hand. Read the information plates, spot birds building nests, breath.I will be back very soon, with my family, for a longer stroll.

It was great. Good idea to go early when it is still quiet. Awesome paths just make sure to grap a foto of the map before you decide to walk around and comfy shoes. Really good for family outings and picnic dates.

Great trail for hiking, and you can learn the trees on the way. So many places to sit on the benches. I see myself enjoying the book hiding in the garden on one of the benches.

Beautiful! A bit pricey though approx. R65pp, but worth it. It’s a breath of fresh air. Palates not allowed as they are danger do the plants.Place to be , whether it’s for a picnic, birthday, wedding pictures or just to relax.

Not sure whats going on here, but the staff wasnt knowledgeable, the grounds were dirty and most of the buildings were closed during our visit.There was a nice walking path to a man-made waterfall. This was the only thing worthwhile seeing.Would not recommend this place.

Nice and relaxing walk in the botanical gardens, even in winter. The cafe inside the gardens is great with a nice menu and friendly service. Its a shame that the big restaurant outside is now closed and there is also no curioshop anymore.Its still a good time out in nature though.

Something has to be done about purpose specific national assets such as Botanical gardens.They cant be used for mass parties and events. Its a Botanical garden established to grow and preserve botany - hence the name.Further, how are the cash fees reconciled when no receipts are given, beside a stamp on your arm. Bizarre system of management. No wonder the garden appears to have deteriorated since my last visit.

Its a beautiful and private area to spend time with loved ones or alone, giving you an opportunity to unwind and relax, for a moment you forget that you are in the middle of the city, you are only reminded by passing traffic

This was my first visit to the Pretoria botanical gardens. It was a great place for the kids to explore . The main feature of the garden is the waterfall that cascades into a large pool.Easy h ikes can be done up and around the falls.

Lovely botanical garden, however you arent allowed to picnic there at the moment, which is pretty disappointing considering it mentions nothing on the website. We were simply shooed away by staff when they saw our basket.

This is an awesome family destination, the gardens and lawns are maintained immaculately and are clean and welcoming. There is so much shady places for a family picnic and plenty space for the children to play.The walks and trails along the ridge are great, well layed out easy to find. A great day out for anyone looking for a day out in nature to rest and recharge after a busy week.

A beautiful and well mantained national park. Entrance fees affordable, staff is friendly and helpful. My husband and I had a picnic at the gardens to celebrate his beautiful. We had a wonderful time - quite and very serene. Fun was had.

Beautiful park, with walking trails and ample place to sit in the shade. Interesting plant life and birds everywhere. It costs R35 per adult and kids under 6 are free.Easy access to lavatories and there is a little cafe in the park!Saturdays there is a park run in the morning and afterwards a banging market...check it out.

I live for going to SANBIs gardens in all parts of the country. The National Botanical Gardens happens to be one of the best they offer and one visit to the place is not enough. There is just a lot to see and learn about plants and their important role in nature. Here you can walk around for kilometers and the good thing is that there are plenty of labels for the plants. If you are not in the mood for learning about plants and just want to relax in nature you can go for a picnic or have a braai there. Otherwise they have a very lovely restaurant called the Milk Plum. It has a very lovely and enjoyable menu.When I was there on 10 December 2020, they were strict about the Covid-19 safety regulations. In narrow footpaths people were wearing masks and inside the buildings. Otherwise you can be in many spaces where there are no other people and it is just you and plants.
