Nice place to stay for the weekend... nice and tranquil... lots of nature all around right on the river. Hope they just had a bad weekend... no electricity the first night... no hot water the next day... but the rooms are comfy and homely.

Great tranquil location right on the Umzimkulu River bank, lush gardens, indigenous trees, resident Jack Russel, sunset boat cruise, bonfire on the river bank , a fishermans paradise. A few minutes drive from shopping malls and restaurants. The Chalets are basic but well equipped and reasonably priced. If you love fancy book at the Hilton, if you love nature book at Umzimkulu Marina. Thank you Geraldine for for warm hospitality, thank you Sean for all the fishing advise and tips.

25 walk on freshly cut grass takes you to the jetty for some awesome fishing. Safe for children, with a swing and small jungle gym. The accommodation is great, each unit is adequately furnished, do not expect 5 star furnishings, but hey the fishing makes up for it. The view of the ridge across the river and the call of the fish eagle makes a holiday here that much more special. Shops are a 5 minute drive away.

My extended family and I stayed at Umzimkulu Marina after a big family wedding and it was the perfect place to relax and reminisce. The river is beautiful and peaceful from dawn to dusk and we enjoyed many a stunning sunset while cruising down the river on the barge. Geraldine and Brian really went out of their way to make our stay so memorable. I would highly recommend visiting their lovely place and its magical river.

Beautiful place, friendly people

Absolutely beautiful and tranquil. Just wish we had more time to spend there . The cry of the fish eagle resonates through the stillness of the spectacular sunrise and the late afternoon. A must to stay at.

Lovely place! Owners are super cool! Had lots of fun fishing in the estuary on my first trip .been there twice before( last september and this long weekend) will go back for sure!!!

As per my star rating its ok... Just be aware there are no basics like an iron etc. Things that should be in a self-catered getaway. You can ask the owner but this becomes a pain between they need it and you need it. The house is joined to the owners house but the place is beautiful. Becareful on noise due to all the houses joined to each other. No security at the premises, just a gate. Its unfortunately down a very windy and dangerous road so caution is advised. Overall its ok, not bad for R900 per a night.

Venue far from holiday destinations. 👍For fishing. But for holiday not so grand.

Most beautiful place in Kwazulu Natal!!! Lots of wildlife and fishing is amazing! Geraldine and Brian are the best hosts! I would definitely recommend the afternoon boat rides on the river!

Awesome place to relax, the hosts are great people.you can hear the fish eagles daily. Very relaxing atmosphere.

We used this venue for my sons wedding. An absolutely fantastic venue in the most beautiful surroundings.

Wonderful stay. Ocean fishing, Jack Russells, Warm hospitality and beautiful unspoilt setting. Hard to beat.

Umzimkhulu Marina was amazing and exciting & also beautiful.

Worst experience ever. On arrival the unit was cleaned but counters we still dirty and sticky. Beds had bed bugs and couches are filthy. We stayed for 5 days, and had to ask for a cleaner to clean our unit as it has not been cleaned by the 4th day. There were flies and dog poo all over the yard. Nights are not peaceful as dogs bark the whole night. Roaches on every corner.
