Ordered a chicken mayo sandwich, and the chicken was clearly a couple of days old and smothered in mayonnaise.

A good place to wine and dine .

Visited yesterday with two friends and what a lovely lunch. Two of us were supposed to have gammon but based on the waitresses recommendation we changed to ribs. Excellent choice. Meaty, tasty and definitely not dry as a lot of ribs seem to be. The third member of the party ordered the Sunday roast, beef and pork with all the accompaniemts, very much enjoyed. All the meals were well presented and on hot plates. Such a small thing but it makes a huge difference to the meal. Staff friendly, helpful and attentive. We will visit more often from now on. One of our party is claustrophobic and the staff brought out chairs and made sure we were comfortable outside. Well done Highland Fryer.

I took my elderly mother here for the Sunday roast. Very convenient parking right at the door, welcoming friendly staff, plain but comfortable decor. Food was well prepared, portions generous.

Ordered one of their favorite dishes - livers and onions 🌰 promised to be sheep liver received chicken livers - at least they apologize

Located in Shelly Beach, the Highland Fryer is a quiet old fashioned pub style restaurant. The food is satisfactory, staff and patrons somewhat friendly. Worth a try if you prefer a quiet setting with specific food options.

There was 10 pax in total. Service came in stages. No one ate at the same time. Some of the orders where incorrect. Food was ice cold. Potatoes where hard and cold, if u where lucky to get any. Ran out of vanilla ice cream halfway through lunch service. Bill was incorrect but so dissapointed we just paid and left. Would not reccommend for Sunday lunch.

Waited nearly 2 hours for a gross, watery, burnt chicken pie. The waitress apologized and acknowledged that the pie was horrible but we still had to pay for itIn response to management below: we were never offered a replacement. You must be thinking of another dissatisfied customer

The Highland Fryer is a fantastic establishment with friendly staff, good food, and a well priced menu. The atmosphere is great, but I would definitely recommend grabbing a window seat. Truly a hidden gem on the South Coast

Pretty average really. As the Sunday lunch had been going for an hour by the time we arrived, two meat selections had become one, the veggies had been reduced to beans only and the vanilla ice cream had become runny and was replaced with chocolate ice cream. Almost the entire wine list was unavailable. Yet we paid the full price. Unfair, no?

Had Sunday lunch there, not great and would not go back for the Sunday special. Thank you for your response. Just to let you know that we had the Sunday lunch, for starters the vegetable soup was not very good and tasted like packet of soup with some vegetables added. Secondly the beef roast was overcooked, tough and we could not eat it and took most of it home.

No table ready and 30mins later got squeezed into a space, waiters kept bumping into our heads with there trays. And then I felt we got served the REALLY left overs, dried out meat...
